Man this freedom obsession is getting a bit out there? Like semi-first world style problems? I don't know he struggles vigorously for his independence over seemingly minor thing and seems to lose grace for the bound of major things. And when it seems to come for really big things the angst chokes sympathy especially as it seems oddly times to contrast to major serious business that's a part of your station and required for the maintenance of everyone you claim to love.

Like you're in a cage of gold and all. But hormone may be what they are but your not a kid twice over and live depend on you ya know.
Stress is bad but could seriousness in things that could get people killed kill ya? Like you must worry your mom so.

No it's not. I'm happy he's not writing another generic protagonist without any care or worry in the world, who never gets upset.

If Josette's father has considered executing her, and has exiled her to a monastery, then he has considered disputing succession, hasn't he?

Because if he's not going to be king, then neither Charlotte nor Josette would be in line for succession, since Joseph already had an heir before they were born.

There was a brief moment in which the windows rattled, it was a moment that soon passed, "Yes, that much was clear," Karin said with a voice that brokered no argument. "It is the reason why you are doing this that still eludes me."
Obviously, it's to load up Karin's home with adorable little girls, and thus aid in wearing down her Rule of Steel. It seems to be working quite well! :)

He's still the spare to the throne, so they most likely can still be considered too close to inheriting the crown to allow the possible dispute.

I wonder, has the printing press been invented yet? If not, then Shade could always introduce it. Along with its theme song: "The Printing Press is For Porn", as sung by resident bibliophile Charlotte and her uncle-inlaw.

What the hell, Pierre! You are feeding your wife too much marijuana! Karin is slowly becoming a completely different person! Her Tsun side is fading awaaaaaaay!

What is this, your fifth update today?

You, sir, are a glorious madman.

Considering that, by the time of canon, books are cheap enough that Siesta, a young commoner maid, if one in a pretty well paid position, can get her hands on enough books to be a fan of trashy "romance" literature, they most likely do have some kind of printing press, either a movable type one, or a good enough equivalent through the use of magic (perhaps earth magic can build the plates fast enough for it to be worth it?)

There's absolutely no way that he's selling books (by volume) if the printing press hasn't been invented yet.

A lot of hugs for shade from his enslaved audience, and lots of speculation.

This is actually quite on point.

Things I like are indeed a speculating audience, omakes, stuff like a Tvtropes page to read about, commentary-

Pretty much anything that shows that someone enjoyed the story itself makes me happy.

I really, really, really do love seeing people enjoy stuff I write, and that's pretty much it.

A brief P.S. I just realized now: I suppose there's also the possibility that (low level) magic can just allow a mage with some skill on the field to straight up copy the book at a reasonable speed. So long it's not too easy (because otherwise all mages would go around creating copies of whatever they wished to read, and they clearly don't) but also not requiring any real power (because lines and up have better things to do for money than serving as living copying machines), it could work.

My lunch with the family went by swimmingly well. Although Karin ate with decor, she also ate nimbly and quickly -the terrifying munchies beset on her- and there were hints of smiles on her face whenever she heard Louise or Josette speak. It was obvious she was enjoying herself, and her mask was slowly being eroded away.

Yes, Karin, embrace your inner dere. Let the moe blobs and the hallucinogenic drugs wash away that filthy tsun exterior.

"Well," I said shyly, "It depends on your definition of trouble, father," I twiddled with my fingers. "We might be hosting the twin sister of the daughter of the Duke D'Orleans, who is thought dead by everyone else, and the daughter that the Archduke of Albion had with his elf mistress-"

There was a brief moment in which the windows rattled, it was a moment that soon passed, "Yes, that much was clear," Karin said with a voice that brokered no argument. "It is the reason why you are doing this that still eludes me."

Translation: God Damnit Po- Henry!

"Ah, it's mostly peacekeeping," I answered nimbly, "There are a lot of tensions between the nobles of the country of Gallia-many are unlanded, and those who are try their hardest to keep their lands, or prevent losing them. Some of them abuse their power, others their commoners-it's a tangled mess, so...when the king made me a Marshal, I thought to myself that levying armies from the nobles was problematic, because they'd obey their lords-but what if their lords were the problem? So, I outright hired people, trained them, and told them that they were an army-a peacekeeping army of Gallia."

Ignore the fact that they are loyal only to me, I will totally not make use of this knowledge.~

"What silly nonsense are you spouting," Karin huffed loudly, her arms crossed in front of her chest. "Do you know how much it hurt to birth you? You think I'd go through all that pain just to get rid of you? No, even if you commit a hundred sins, I know your character, Henry, and I know who you are. So...punish you? Without a doubt. Execute you? Are you out of your mind? There is no way I'd do that!" and as she cried that out, I realized she was being absolutely honest.

Karin: Nobody will hurt my Grumpy Henry, he and his wibbly-wubbly cheeks of cuteness are mine. YOU HEAR ME, MINE!

They had stars in their eyes and seemed to be longing for some form of favor, because with the way they held themselves, it was as if they had received bliss but a few minutes before.

"Your grace..." one of the knights said, "the inspiring new artist, this Ombre de la Nuit, is it possible to have an autograph? To shake his hand? Though the church might be against it, I-and the others, are willing to lay down our morals for just one day to meet and speak with such a great author."

I raised both of my eyebrows. "He is, unfortunately, extremely shy," I said with a known nod. "So you may not meet him. On the other hand, he told me firsthand details of his next new book."

There was pure fan-love in those knights' eyes as I calmly told them what the next big hit of such a writer would be.

We know that feel, Sudri Knights. We know it all too well.

Watch, most of his adult writings are going to include things like public hand holding, shyly looking into eachothers eyes, the passing of secret love notes, and worst of all. . . the dreaded head pats.

S-So shameless!

Karin being drugged without her consent is... pretty disturbing to me, honestly. Played for laughs once it's amusing, if you don't think about it too hard, but having it as a constant part of her diet? That's just a few steps shy of some really skeevy shit.

Just wait until they finally stop using it and Karin acts the same (without the excuse of being drugged).

Fufufufufufu~

Also morality aside it seems like a pretty terrible idea to have the person handling the household accounts be high all the time.
