Mauling Snarks (Worm) (Complete)

Come on Taylor, if this isn't a cry for attention I don't know what is. Give her a social call.

I find this rating rather excessive. I mean yeah they're probably doing damage comparable to a small nuclear bomb, but that seems more like a 10 or 11 than this.

Thing is, that's with the railgun. It's an extrapolation. What happens with a BIGGER gun? Or a better gun? Basically, it gets the message across that their power effectively doesn't really have an upper limit bar what it takes for them to get ahold of 'Moar Gun'. I mean, for fuck's sake they should be able to punt an endbringer working together with this application.

I mean, seriously, they did that with a 'man-portable' railgun. What about something bigger and better, like a naval rifle firing a 5 inch or bigger shell?

That right there, if it ever becomes actually known, would result in a kill order from the major villain groups around the world.

Nope. Remmeber the Skidmark interlude? deliberately targeting a Ward is a fastrack to getting Kill orders on the lot of your gang, with the Triumvirate turning up to aid in enforcement. Plus, in this case, she alledgedly made Eidolon stronger- trhey'd have to factor in the possibility they'd fail to take her out.
And you are telling me the CUI wouldn't attempt to capture or kill her?

Nope- capture's too risky since she could shut down the parahuman that allows them to split powers amongst themselves, and killing her'd be tricky too.

It wont? Or if it does, there wont be any winnings involved. Lung had the questions updated after he woke up the last time.

No winnings involved, but Lung does have something of a sense of humour- and actually seems to quite like Maul, so I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he agreed just to see PHO's response. Carol Dallon and/or Sarah Pelham might be more of a roadblock, since there was apparently at least some debate about if Danny was irresponsible for allowing Taylor to drink as much as she did- New Wave probably wouldn't look too good if Amy went out drinking to excess. since they are held to a higher standard (and in the case of New Wave, since their platform is somewhat moralistic, i'd say they bring it on themselves. Granted, while the kids weren't powered, I'd have said differently, but after they joined? much less so.)

It might be amusing for Amy to be seen drawing a mustache on Lung in such a picture, just to add to the air of strange.

Dragon is such a good girl. Maybe she'll use all that scrap metal to set up manufacturing facilities in Brockton Bay and be closer to her mum.
Think at least some manufacturing facilities are already on the way, pre-dating the Bay Clearing Project. The power testing/spar with Lung happened where it did to clear the area for a local Fugue Center, and that'll have at least some manufacturing bits in it.

*blinks* That is SO bullshit. They have, like, almost every power rating. EACH.
And she DID make Eidolon stronger. Go figure.
I think the stronger Eidolon might be because of the list, as much as the feeding. I mean, sure, less powers available, but if he can instantly select one instead of wading through the pile searching for it, it lets him get into action a bit faster.

Ah... she's emulating Batman. I'm so proud.
Actually... if she got a Batman-esque utility belt and got Missy to expand all the pockets...
Pretty sure she already has one. Two, actually. One in costume, and a Vista version for civilian use.

Huh... I'm trying to picture an E88 cape waving a white flag... it's a very strange mental image. Doesn't really click, y'know.
Maybe he borrowed a friend's KKK garb.

She's already melting brains by the fact that Lung, Maul, New Wave (all of it), and a portion of the local Protectorate all went out to Fugly Bobs for a meal.

Then there's the epic "i win" of getting Lung to tell his story in regards to his one and only Endbringer fight.

Also, I love Kaiser's reaction when he learns what mole spawned rumors Maul confirmed.

EDIT: Come on autocorrupt, I spelled "love" correctly. Why the frell did you change it to "live"?!

Marsh was a refusal to talk if I remember correctly. She probably could still have shut him down. And or this draining option could probably be used on any snark.
Gotta wonder, though. Can she do the drain thing on a non-Gatherer type without first having a Master try to mess with her? The draining of Eidolon was, at least partly, similar to an escalation of her 'drain' Master defense. Instead of just draining the energy the other snark is using to Master, it pulls more energy on the established drain. Maybe.

Maybe she should look into adding a rain shield?

Shame this is just text.... that would be something to see/draw.

"What ratings don't you have now?" Chris asked.

"Breaker, Changer, Master, Shaker, and Stranger," Taylor replied.

Give it time. :)

"We didn't keep a close enough eye on what our snarks were planning," Taylor replied, shrugging.

It's always the quite ones you need to be careful of...

"It was on the news," Crystal said. "Something about the Butcher's new phone being bricked due to some crap app trying to steal her personal information, so they were going to hunt down the person responsible for writing it."

Taylor thought about that. "I never really thought about that as being a hazard of being a programmer of any kind."

Nice touch. A true slice of Earth Bet life.

"The PRT contacted me, acting as an intermediary for an undisclosed third party," Dragon said. "Admittedly, they expected it to take much longer, but I decided to put a higher priority on the request. You could consider it a Mother's Day gift of sorts."

Oh boy....Someone needs a hug and some Mom-Daughter time.

"The ones that say that Eidolon was impatient and rude with her, so she took him down for a couple hours and forced him into a therapy session."

Somehow, I'm getting that Maul got Eidolon into a therapy sessions seems to be the bigger issue than taking him down. As Eidolon is supposed to be only second to Scion...
How wide spread is it known that Eidolon dodges therapy sessions?

And here, Taylor, has her brand-new degree in parahuman psychology.....

Taylor, please hug your daughter and give her your approval. Dragon tries so hard, she deserves love and attention.

And dating advice that will be Taylor talking about snark compatibility

Dragon has a phone too. Why is she ignoring her mom, Dragon you never call, we know you have your own life but your mother would appreciate being called occasionally. Here I am, old and feeble, and you never call.

Problem with mothers of adults is that sometimes they just won't let go. Good Moms don't pester their adult kids. Annoying Moms never seem to be able to let go.

That is true. So it's more that he's using his abilities more efficiently than anything else. Armsmaster will be pleased to hear that, I think.

Pretty sure she already has one. Two, actually. One in costume, and a Vista version for civilian use.
Oh, I remember those, yes. Didn't she turn one of them into a prank-belt?

Maybe he borrowed a friend's KKK garb.
Oh yeah, they do wear white...

"Are those brass balls?" Dennis asked. "Why would Hookwolf give you two large brass balls?"
Oh Dennis, you sweet summer child...Your default answer of 'bullshit' has left you blind to other colloquialisms.

Hmm... how much is that in relation to her body weight?
Assuming Taylor weighs 140 lbs in her stocking feet (as opposed to in her armored costume, with jump harness, wok and maul), a little over 125% of her body weight one handed, just over 200% two-handed.

Grrr...

My mom has a smartphone and WhatsApp installed. And she knows how to use it.

I get cat pics. Every. Single. Day.

For the record: I'm 52 and she's 76. One would think she'd get bored. But NOOOO!

... What's really amusing is that I'd typed "autocorrect".

And THAT, is why everyone should just turn it off and learn to spell on their own. It's much faster anyway because you don't have to deal with insanely stupid "corrections" all the time.

Because really, the overall quality of spelling has plummeted along with the appearance of autocorrect.

If I could figure out what has the damn thing enabled, I'd turn off autocorrect in a nanosecond. I don't need it, want it, or think it's remotely useful. I use Spellcheck, which helpfully informs me (usually accurately) that I've misspelled a word via red wavy underlining the word. It then lets me right click to see options of what I might be trying to spell. THAT is helpful to me. I know I'm a bad speller, and you can blame school teachers who were more focused on teaching good manners then they were the subjects they were suppose to be teaching for that.

I can usually spot the correct spelling of the word I want in the list Spellcheck offers, even if I can't spell it myself. And if I'm unsure if it's right, I can pull up a dictionary page for it to check. If my spelling is so atrocious that spellcheck can't figure out what I'm trying to spell, I can pull out a dictionary. Assuming I can find it. Autocorrect however is a waste of time. It often changes words that I was spelling correctly into something I didn't want. For example once when I was trying to work on a story using my tablet Autocorrect "helpfully" changed "mountain" into "Montana". Another time it decided to change Annette, the name of a character in my story, to "anaconda" for reasons unknown to me. I disable the damn thing anytime I can. And right now it only rears it's ugly head on my tablet (still can't figure out how to turn it off there) and on SV. No idea why it occurs on SV though since neither the site nor my browser should have autocorrect enabled.

EDIT: Also, telling people 'learn to spell properly' is rather rude. Do YOU know how to spell every single word in the English language? How about words from other languages, can you spell every word in them correctly every single time? Some words one should know how to spell. However if you don't use a word often, you may well not know how to spell it. And since spelling is only covered in grade school in the USA, guess what? That class doesn't teach you how to spell every single word in the dictionary.

Considering she's not a natural Brute, that's actually not bad. I wonder how much Amy and Riley can improve on that without giving her, like, Bane-style muscles.

Now I am wondering where Maul will store her flying platform, when not in use, since she is inside a mall or so.
I mean, she already has a wok on her back, where will she store that platform?

Say, could Amy consider a Exoskeleton in the same way she does a fake limb?
Because if so, then she could craft herself a exoskeleton with flight capabilities.
Thus hitting that box of protestics as well.

It does make me wonder if to Taylor, Amy her scooter is working or if it's missing things, when seen besides her own scooter.

I also wonder if Taylor will show Squeeler the PRT shop and how certain stuff could be used on her vehicles.
Best thing would be that it is already made, just needing to be installed.
Squeeler needs to look for a two axel truck and a one axel container trailer that can be short-linked so it forms a three axel (short/flat-bed) truck.
The Fun factor of that is the high amount of modularity, including the option of a tow-truck trailer or a PRT heavy support trailer.
