Mauling Snarks (Worm) (Complete)

It's highly unlikely something as hilariously simple as a table on hydraulics is tinkertech. It's something we can do now. Why bother making it be tinkertech?

Tinkertech isn't about why, it's about why not!
In a somewhat more serious manner, powers exist to be used. When confronted with the issue of a table being needed at some times and not others, and his focus on efficiency, I could certainly see a younger Armsmaster whipping up something inefficiently efficient.

I mean, I could see that too... except he was never a ward and this is in their quarters no?

What are Taylor's stats?
Blaster ?
Trump ?
Brute ?

Why not a 1 for tinker?
Do it yourself electronics, especially when it's a fairly common device with plug and play parts, isn't really tinker rating worthy. Remember, Saint getting a teacher upgrade and being to mess with an AI and her mechs only warranted a Tinker 0.

Also, she should have a thinker rating for her snark sense and communication.

Maul's PRT Ratings as of Chapter 50-ish
I'm running on something close to this:

Primary: Trump 8/Blaster 5
She's at Trump 8 due to the number of ways she has influenced things talking to snarks. That might go up when they officially recognize her "feeding" and will go up if she ever demonstrates "forcibly drain". Blaster 5 is in part due to her enhanced strength making the projected hit harder, and giving her more options for "pick up and swing". I considered a "Striker" rating, since she all but has to be touching the things she projects, but she isn't doing anything *to* them. Shaker would be closer, I think, but not quite how you fight her.

Secondary: Thinker 4/Brute 3/Mover 1
The "Mover" rating is without the Jump Harness, and stems somewhat from the Brute rating. Which is from the tinker fugue.
The Thinker rating here is a combination of "detect snarks", "enhanced senses", and "mild multitasking". It might be low.

Secondary: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Requirements: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
To be revealed later

I believe the table was in a conference room and actually Armsmaster was a ward IIRC, except he was a ward in another state...

He'd even prided himself on it, for a time, that there was nothing to hold him back. That he could, should the mood strike him, pick up and leave at any time. He'd modeled his life around it, had led a spare existence, devoid of the little touches of home, of roots. He'd saved money so he had the ability to travel, to get a new place in a new city if the mood struck. It had even been an asset when he had joined the Protectorate, the ability to relocate, take any open position.
Plus this.

So nope, joined right into the protectorate. Which makes him... a bit over 30 when canon starts.

Honestly, given Taylor's habit of thinking out of the box, I suspect that she probably qualifies as a Tinker 0 with everything else she has, since she can look at groupings of components and see ways to use them for applications well past their intended use.

It's not really tinkering per se. As Epsilon Rose says above, DIY electronics at the level she's doing it doesn't really rate. More to the point is her fresh approach to problems and coming up with non-obvious solutions, AKA "thinking out of the box" which is better characterised as a component of her thinker abilities. Along with the snark detection/communication of her base powerset and the enhanced senses courtesy of the tinker fugue.

Wait -- where's the Facepalm 5 rating? And the Bricks 6? (Is that low? I can't remember how many walls she's gotten so far....)

Not a Worm-fan per say, but am enjoying the Worm AUs.... so no, I don't remember. But I will be looking up Saint in Worm WIkia.

I have a weird image in my head, Taylor meeting Leet and playing 'marriage counselor' for him and his snark

I only know Worm from Taylor Varga, here and a few other fanfics that caught my eye. So that's canon, and not fanon? Interesting

then again, I thought S class threats were a Naruto thing
They are, in fact, a canon Worm thing as well, if perhaps inspired by Naruto (out of story, at least - in-story the chronology is wrong, and the Naruto version is S-rank, anyway).

Some fanfics have taken this further and added A-class threats to the Worm setting (though I can't recall any fics ever mentioning classes further down).

Probably because the fics usually take place in Brockton Bay, where all the capes who matter are B-class minimum, and C's are considered a joke. D's and lower either hide, run, or die very quickly in the Bay.

Echidnia was originally classed as an A-class threat. after they trapped her, she got upgraded to a S-class. So A-class threats are canon too.

Weird, but apparently true:

They probably weren't a full team from a city as big as Chicago; they'd be limited to the ones who'd agreed to fight an unknown, A-class threat.
That makes a Naruto inspiration on Wildbow's part even more plausible, and raises the question of the possible existence of B-class and C-class threats (D-class and lower is unlikely).

same boat as you, I only know Worm from Fanfics, stemming from a DBZ crossover
My own first was the Worm Loops, of all things.

(I've since read dozens - possibly hundreds - of other Worm fanfics, but I still hadn't read much actual canon; not interested in 1.7 million words of ever more depressing story.)
