Magical Girl Home Base Quest

[X] No, you want to improve your workshop instead.

Yeah, first off let's improve our workshop. Might enhance our chances of making much more quality items.

[X] Elise (16x Gubbins, 1x Major Item)

We may need a ride to use for own.

Given how the witches know where we are, I'd like to improve the building, either by recruiting more MG rentees or by improving the defenses. Eowyn and Trompdoy are tracking down a coven of witches (the same one that approached us?), have been steady in paying rent, and are likely to defend the place they're staying at so I want to give them the wand. Hopefully, we can still get some of the other items on offer next turn when we sell the Level 3 wand. Getting a steady supply of resources off-screen by selling minor items sounds good.

Is anyone else really suspicious of how the cat ran off-screen and then Elise ran into the room? I think she's the cat. That means she's technically staying with us rent-free.:p

Personally, I want to work on making the building less of a shit heap and we haven't worked on improving our building in a while. And it looks like there are some MGs(i.e Rose) who don't have the currency to pay for a T2 wand, so there might be something to actually pumping out a couple of T1 ones every once in a while. Plus, Trompdoy and Eowyn are pooling their resources together and if this choice is them willing to share it, then that's one less wand we need to make.

I hope you like spaghetti.
"I dig my hole you build a wall

One day that wall is gonna fall
"
I loved Bastion. Good shit.
"Good news, people!" you yelled. "I got shit to sell!"

Eight sets of eyes turned to you, and one nose in lieu of eyes from Homer behind the counter.

"Behold, new wand!" you yelled, grinning as you held it out. "Anyone got an opening bid?"
And here. We. Go.
Trompdoy and Eowyn both shrugged. "We can do you… uh… not that much." Eowyn said, sighing. "Around six pallets of Alchemist supplies? There's been not a lot of activity lately, and we found more signs of that coven of witches, so this last week's been mostly detective work."
Not terribly surprising bid by them. They never were particularly flush with valuable materials.
Calypso glared at you. "I'm already in debt, so no. Fuck off."
Harsh, but not entirely uncalled for.
Mistletoe wiped the drool out of her mouth. "Umm… I have some scrap I picked up out of a summoning circle, and a few artifact-things? Nothing great, but it exists?"
Someone likes the view?
"Twenty kilos of 24-karat gold." The girl in red said. "Also, I'm Tanner. Nice to meet'cha."
Jesus fucking christ. Twenty kilograms of gold. I... just... bloody hell. I have no idea what to say. Current market rate for gold is over 50k USD per kilogram of gold. This is literally a million dollars of gold. What the actual fuck!
Rose winced. "Bidding's too rich for my taste. Call me in when something cheaper comes up."
No shit Rose. I don't blame you.
"Thirteen Familiar Chimera corpses, two pints of dragon's blood, six non-Euclidian skulls, twenty pounds of enchanted cinnabar," Lappin said with a waver. "and my services for two weeks. For anything."

"Anything?" you asked, eyes lighting up.

"Anything." She said, shivering a little. "Absolutely anything."

"Great!" you said, smiling. "You can do the morning collections and water distribution. If I sell to you, we can go over your routines later, and you'll start on Sunday."

The three strangers let their mouths fall open. Looking at them, Calypso sighed in the most deadpan voice possible.

"You get used to it."
Hah! Medicine Boy subverting expectations once again.
Behind you, a magical girl barged through your lobby, turned at the junction, and came screaming up behind you in an ill-fitting school uniform covered with stains and a size too small. "Sorry I'm late!" she yelled, before tripping on the shitty hall carpet and faceplanting into the ground at your feet. "I'm Elise."

Picking her almost skeletal form upright and taking her inside, you plopped her at the table and clicked your fingers twice, than three times- food, now, please.
Good boy Goodyear. She looks like she needs it.
"I heard from my cat you were selling a wand. I have a '67 Camero I can offer in trade, and a shipping container full to the brim of Warsaw Pact military equipment."
Oh a car? Useful... wait. Um. What?
The girls stared at her, and Elise stared back. "What? You guys act surprised."

"Where the fuck did you get that! When did you get that?" Tanner asked, almost yelling.
Pretty much my thoughts.
"Ukraine, in '89, and I'm not obligated to tell you anything else." Elise said, smirking. "God, I miss working with Henrietta."
She got it in the midst of the USSR collapsing into its member states? Holy shit. She's actually middle age at a minimum.
And uh, yeah. I have no idea what to do here. Lots of dosh or a car, explosives, and guns. Fuck.

So, guys. I can't help but notice the witch coven is planning to leave in 5 weeks. It's week 8. I think we're seeing the first hints of the week 13 main plot.

Oh yeah, there's also a vote. I'll be on that in a bit.

Yeah, I highly doubt it takes 5 weeks just to pack up. They want a truce so they can finish something in peace, probably something we don't want them finishing.

Odds are good, yeah.

If they were legitimately wanting to pack up and go, they wouldn't need five weeks. Anyone who legitimately fears for their life and can't do a reasonably effective bug-out in a week is actively sandbagging.

Especially since world standards for bug-out time are something on the level of minutes if you feel you're in actual danger. Even including infrastructure, you don't need five weeks to leave if you think you're in danger.

Uuugghh... all the options are good but that car is too significant.

... Medicine boy knows how to drive right?

Here's my thinking. Mistletoe has no equipment, and we did say we'd look out for her. Sell to her. Most everyone else still has something to work with. Then this turn, we also upgrade the workshop. This gets us to level 2, same teir as our wands, and one teir below our trinket teir. GM has said we can make gear at our max teir level regardless of workshop level, but has also said it's better if the workshop at least matches up. That's this turn.

Next turn though, we research the stuff Mistletoe traded us. Lots of Minor Artifacts makes me think it'll get turned into a pile of bombs, but I'm hoping we can lump them together and research a higher teir costume. Hopefully a higher level workshop improves our odds of success. If this all goes well, what I'm really hoping to get out of all this is upping our crafting skill, so between that and the workshop everything we make should last a lot longer. I'm also hoping all this helps future proof researching Joselyn down the line.

*Narrows eyes*

I think you're right. Elise infiltrated our building disguised as a cat. That, plus how we can't really use a car without difficulty... I'm changing my vote.

So many good options dear gods. Still, potentially raising our ability to make better shit ain't nothing

Why are we voting to auto-sell stuff when we have a crisis coming around the corner? Is no one picking up the 5 weeks that really sus?
