Loyalty is its own Reward (A Traitor Legion Chapter Master Quest)

Our allies got reamed this turn.

I'm not sure how much we will have left to take the final planet.

Meanwhile we eliminated another ~165 Chaos Space Marines.

Edit: Total Eye of Mutator losses for Space Marines is above 500 now. I'd be surprised if they started this campaign with 1,000 Marines. Especially since we killed some the previous turn.

Link to the last count I made:

Maybe but that would always have been a probleem being paranoid to not use the ability to use that tech that tread activly choose a great crusade era tech marine for would hamper us

Besides we have reasonable ways to relay that especially with our close working with the Inquisitoral powers outside of the sector

And yep lusignan is getting that character growth if this campaign was a black Library book series he would probally be one of its main characters
I'm not going to get into it again with you, your gun ho on spreading GC tech while I'm not. It's as simple as that.

As for next plans; do we want to hit the Fortress for loot and using what remains of our best forces, or do we want to hit the city? I think the fortress is too well defended for us to split between them with the casualties we have taken.
I have a plan in mind for hitting both at the same time. I know that's not what you want but its the last two places on this planet and could be the last major hard point we have to crash and break, and either location could easily reinforce the other location. However, if the thread is in majority favor of hitting one place over the other, I can adjust.

As for preferred assault tactics, for the Shifting Fortress, I'd really rather just do continued bombardment to soften up the defenses.

Hey, I'm still babysitting so any plan making is on you all. You've done alright so far.

I'll just recommend is that if bombardment is what you're going for, ask @ThunderOwl what if any role getting some torpedoes or macrocannon shells down here as improvised rockets/tactical Deathstrike-style ground-based missiles could be. Planetary shield means shit if it's being fired from inside the shield, and we have mostly secured airspace for transportation as long as it's not into a combat zone.

I understand your point, but I came into this expecting everyone to die horribly - some of them have - so I'm just relieved we still have a fighting force to keep going.

Keep in mind that what loot we get is almost entirely dice driven, so unless someone's fudging the dice there's no actual way for anyone, even the QM, to have known beforehand we'd get another option. Besides, Indomitus is faster than Cataphract, so there's a case to be made that we can use both of them for different missions.
I wish I could share in your relief. But at this point it feels like this is a permanent monkey on our back and it's very demoralizing. We keep giving up so much shit either knowingly or unknowingly and everything we can get is either a struggle or comes at ruinous cost to something else. And with such an ungodly terrible starting point, we don't even have much as a baseline.

No argument from me. I had a brief rage moment myself seeing all that loot and realizing how little of it we'd get.

Just keep in mind that the bulk order deal, expensive as it was, has been carrying a lot of weight in keeping our people alive. Making the best of a shit situation and all.

That is true me personally i just wish Smilnay brought more forces to justify the majority loot to them

Especially when they where lackluster so far makes me wish we just got the bulk order and got the legio and forge forces of that one allied to the wardens instead

If I'm not misremembering, we can already make Culverins, so I think we just take the Grav Guns and the Terminator Armor, maybe a strike tank alongside it, as well as the battle barge.

Look at it this way, if we succeed, then we'll be the ones who brought down the Sector's most hated foe. That sort of prestige is worth its weight in gold in the Imperium. Smilnay can't take away that from us.

In regards to whether or not to get the Battle Barge I have no intention of allowing the Angel Crusaders to take it.
Firstly we already gave them a Strike Cruiser in a previous campaign.
And second they have already captured another Strike Cruiser during the Space Battle, specifically

Strike Cruiser Lament of Gashuudal:
–Speed: 50
–Hull points: 200/200 HP
–Shields: 187/200 SP
–Shield regen: 1d50 per phase
–Attack rolls: 1d50+30+5

That's the ship they captured.

We can already make sable tanks
, volkite calibers and stormbirds so we don't need to but are favors toward them I say we focusing primarily on getting the Cataphrachti terminator armor, a suit of iron armor, and a grave gun.

Well, shame about Gnaeus. And man, it really seemed like the guard and the sororitas got chewed up a bit there. Contested landings are a rough time. At least we didn't take many casualties ourselves. And it seems like Lusignan getting rescued twice by our guys has softened him up a bit! Good stuff. Maybe we can make it a solid 3 in the coming assault and truly thaw his heart :V

While loot is good, remember that we aren't conducting this campaign for any monetary reward, after all Loyalty is it's own Reward.

I love name dropping titles!

I'm not sure De Lusignan is actually having character growth, so much as he's just starting to accept the Space Marines he's currently working with as more than uppity juniors.

He is a hero-killing veteran of an ancient Chapter, maybe he always treats those he considers acceptable fighters better than some unproven Marines from a Chapter founded yesterday.

Spatha is having a lot of fun messing with with thrax and the rest of the honor guard 🤣

Luckily their is enough terminator armor where we should be able to get at least one suit if their split 4 ways

Alternatively this will be a lesson when you reach full chapter strength to be greedy when it's time to do a similar operation. More loot for you and just Harker.

If you reach full chapter strength. At the rate we're going we may have the men for it in a century or less, but the fleet, vehicles, and special equipment are another story
