The sun woke from it's nap with a furious shine, as it glared into your closed eyelids.
Really the sun just needed to suffer, why couldn't it just let you continue your nap? (why couldn't you just sleep? Sleep until you die. Sleep until the pain goes away.) You blinked the thought away, you knew exactly why you couldn't indulge in your need for rest.
Something all the more apparent for the scaled body wrapped around you, like a smaller, more welcome form of the fence your sister had climbed. Really what had she been thinking?
Your worry had been so eclipsing you'd had to force your self to pay attention to your broken yellow twig, in order to avoid panicking. Not that it had helped when Azula had decided to disappear.
The very though made your scales shiver disjointedly, and apparently woke your sister as the scaled limpet around you began to unwind. (the pulse of loss that raced under your scales was ignored in it's entirety.)
A soft inquiring caroon met your senses as your sister began to inspect you, leaving you time to notice that your weren't where you last recalled. You were laying in a small cave with odd soft sand having been used as a nesting material.
It felt oddly safe for some reason, despite the scent of worry leaking off of Azula like water. Perhaps it was the worry that made it comfortable, it showed how much Azula had worried over her after all.
(It showed that Azula had gone against her very senses, it showed that Azula didn't kill, or abandoned the runt of the litter to the wilds. It showed that Azula went against her very instincts for you.)
Your sister seemingly satisfied with your state, began to nudge you with her snout. Pushing you out of the small nest she had made, (For a second you were terrified was this it? Was this where you were abandoned?) following you out as she did.
What you found was a wonder.
Bright white sand shining with sunlight, assaulting your senses with it's beauty. Water so blue and flowing softly in gentle swirls, as fish visibly swam under it. (it reminded you of your sister, her eyes so blue and scales so black they made the shadows of your mind flee in fear.)
(The sight itself allowed you to ignore the pain.)
Then your sister made a sound of glee as she dove into the waters fearlessly, (didn't she know that it could be dangerous?) before calling for you to follow. As usual you made a disgruntled huff before following her. (You knew what happened when you ignored her, and being rolled around like a ball had been annoying enough the first time, let alone the second or third.)
The water felt like the odd fluffy things in the sky looked, as it flowed around your scales. An ache you hadn't even noticed being soothed by it's cold depth as your sister lead the way.
Some part of you wanted to snap at the fishy things, wanted to eat as many as possible until you were full. Another Part of you warned not to, that the pretty fishes were dangerous, and not edible. Another part just didn't care, eat them if they come near it called. But before you could make decision you sister made a call to stop, garbled as it was in the water.
As she did so Azula's body language saying for you to sit and stay still. That was something you could and would do with no complaints, as you sank deeper into the water before getting comfortable in the silt. (The stillness brought mindlessness, an escape.)
You didn't know how much time passed before your sister got your attention, as usual whenever you did this time blurred beyond your ability to tell.
Your sister was pointing at a pink fish, but when you moved to to go eat it she stopped you? Why would she do that? Before you could question her the fish swam into a beam of sunlight.
It's scales sparkled magnificently as the suns glare shifted and sparked off it's scales in action that could only be called beautiful.
It was stunning, and was made only more so when you felt the vibration in the water as Azula shivered her scales. She looked exactly the same as she usually did to your confusion, at least until she pushed off from her own spot in the silt and into the beam of the sun.
She was the definition of beauty as her black and blue scales sparkled to outshine the sun itself, dying the water in her colors as beams of blue pieced the water.
Then she began to teach you how to do the same, and warmth pulsed under your scales like the sun had decided to hide under your flesh.
In the back of your mind, your realized this was were she had disappeared to. That this was why she had been gone, why she had left.
But you couldn't care less, after all she came back. Just like the sun, as it disappeared for it's nap but showed itself again without fail.
Your sister came back.
Azula, Came back.
In the end that was all that mattered.
