Plants that feed on dhar really aren't the type that should be cultivated. Even leaving aside the moral and risk factors, they seem likely to actively resist the process, to the point where it'd probably be more accurate to call what you're doing "taming" and "propagation", rather than "cultivation". Still, if some fit of utter madness inspires you to encourage seedlings taken from the Chaos Wastes to grow somewhere else, I suppose using undead workers to tend to them is slightly less crazy than any other plan to handle the things.
I think it's worth noting [ ] Far East's bonus for Aelsabrim to be able to 'contact Asur trade colonies and outposts' and how flexible that has the potential to be... To look at a map of the most notable Asur colonies and outposts:
The sheer potential reach on offer is considerable. Of course, Tor Elithis, the Gates of Calith and the Tower of the Sun are most important when it comes to any investigation into the Jade-Blooded, possible Cathayan vampirates or similar but there are plenty of options for other avenues. To name two:
The Fortress of Dawn could provide an opportunity to recover artefacts from the Lizardmen of the Southlands for potential anthropological comparison to those in Lustria, reinforcing the age and mystery of the civilisation that Harkon triumphed over;
The Tower of Stars is well-located for looking into goods and artefacts from Lahmia, supporting our ambitions around the history of vampirism and necromancy.
That isn't even considering island trading posts and forts dotted around the Old World that recent materials have highlighted. There are options, in short, for a number of directions of travel here!
I agree. I am not quite sure what 'Patron can contact X' will look like in practice, but combining our easy access to hypermobile nautical acquisitionists with the global outpost network of the Asur seems very powerful even if it won't be the immediate consequence of this choice.
Ach, a shame... Well, fingers crossed the White Tower can help out with the various bits of Wind magic we need for things! Perhaps we can look into eastern vampires some other time.
