It Belongs to a Museum

[X] Imprudent Tutor
3rd Dynasty (ca. -1650), brother of King Lamasheptra of Lahmia

I think Settra Rules but seeing as someone who shares that idea wouldn't really be that viable as a pc I pick this guy because I think Lahmia is cool

It feels weird to say this, but I feel like some of these characters would be more at home in the Empire than in Awakening. If your goal is to teach how awful Nagash was and what he did, then if you could get past the immediate reaction of being a Nehekharan liche, you'd probably find teaching positions offered to you by the University of Altdorf or the Colleges of Magic. And the dwarves of the Karaz Ankor would appreciate someone holding on to some very heavy grudges against truly evil traitors, and the effort of recording those wrongdoings and what happened.

And some of those characters were. But after the Vampire Wars, and Kattarin the Bloody, and Sylvania, and Mousillon, and Kemmler, and Ghorst, the well is far too thoroughly poisoned in the Old World for 'technically it's not necromancy, it's a sparkling imperfect immortality' to fly.

How detailed is detailed? How much does Tutor know about Death Magic relative to a Lord Magister of the Amethyst Order?

Elspeth von Draken would have Surface.

And how much does that knowledge translate into practical ability?

The souls of the living would be as difficult for him to rearrange or discard at will as books upon a shelf.

It kind of makes me wonder as to his physical appearance, as instead of our standard idea of a Liche Priest being a desiccated corpse wearing Egyptian regalia, he'd probably just look like an old Arabic or North African man.

When healthcare isn't really a thing, the average person has orders of magnitude more sun exposure, and peasant lifestyles still dominate, it's not actually that unusual to see someone that looks like they have at least one foot in the grave not only walking around, but also carrying twice as much as you can.

It would be kinda funny if Uncle Lich was just really good at normal cosmetics.
"The other priests, well they choose to look that crusty. Disgusting."

The Ancient Egyptians basically invented and greatly respected the art of cosmetics, so it might be a tool in the arsenal of all the Liche Priests.

Well, that certainly puts knowledge levels into perspective, should we expect a visit from Despeth Vraken, obviously non-magical historian with an interest in magical history and what clearly isn't a dragon?

See, the way you word even simple facts for maximum comedic potential is what makes me look forward to your more in-depth informational posts, especially the rare 'insert-country-and-or-faction-here' 101 posts.

@Boney a question if it's not rude, any word on how long the votes going to be open? only asking because up until this quest I've been a reader, rather than a voter so I'm unfamiliar with your normal Modus Operandi

To elaborate more now that I'm not trying to nail the timing: normal MO is to leave it open a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of until I'm ready to start writing, though I'll close it early if it's a high-stress vote that's starting to get people on edge. If a vote is close my preference is to close it at the same time of day that it opened so I don't have a say in exactly who wins by choosing the moment the vote closes.

Thank you for the explanation, I appreciate it

The Big Cool Lizards have so many cool things that Belong In A (Our) Museum but they also have this tendency to wander over and burn down the town before stealing all of their our exhibits.

Native of Nehekhara: Oh it's so frustrating, I want to put all this cool stuff in a museum, but if I try the angry, unimaginably ancient, original owners leave their remote isolation to come take it back by force. Seems so unfair.

Entire rest of the world: (side eye)
