Industrialization Quest

[ ] Prelim Plan
-[ ] Attend several parties and other such events as a new and eligible bachelor.
-[ ] Have your cousin Byers Catalina arrange meetings with women you might like.
-[ ] Make the peasants and villagers to switch to four-field crop rotation. From the news you've gotten from Nesiwald, it actually works. This is starting to be overdue.
-[ ] Learn a skill. (What?)
--[ ] Finish learning Swordplay from your mother. (1/2)
-[ ][Hilde] Look for any information available on the rumored changes to taxes across Veschwar. The sooner you know this sort of thing the more you can prepare.
-[ ][Otto] Supervise work on the new iron mine in your fief to make it as productive and safe as possible. 2 profit
[ ] Plan Farming Trades
-[ ] Reach out to noble families who would make good political or trade connections.

I'm fine with either of these, though I mildly prefer "[ ] Reach out to noble families" over "[] Attending several parties".

Maybe even limit it to "[] Reach out to neighboring noble families", as a write-in.
A local alliance is far more useful than a distant one.

@Rockeye is Bravor Tobelli still around? (the researcher/inventor)

I got sick of writing social actions so he wandered off back to his homeland disappointed when you didn't decide to fund his fairly outrageous patronage request of 4 Profit/season.

I doubt he'll find anyone willing to offer that much money for such uncertain gains.

Maybe a higher ranking noble than us, or a king, might be inclined to humor him, IF he was capable of being more diplomatic and subservient, but he doesn't seem the type.

I'm against going to parties. While it would likely help us find someone with skills, it's unlikely to help us find someone who would fit our temperment. As such, I'm leaning towards the political/trade connections. We're far more likely to find a fellow introvert that way, someone we'll be able to get along with well. And definitely grab the cousin's help, she's probably pretty good at this.
Except...Harold is not an introvert? He missed being back at home, and enjoyed the festivities thrown back in town.
no you didn't. you still have -[] before the plan name instead of just [
Derp, I had no "-" before and now I overdid it.

He missed the luxuries and books from home, plus his family. He never seemed to miss the parties. The festivities update didn't give me the impression of an extrovert (though he's not an extreme introvert by any means). Most introverts still like being around people who like them after all.

He is introverted and extroverted as needed. Besides our father just said we are missing a diplomatic advisor and having an extroverted wife can fit that role.

"Introvert" doesn't mean "socially avoidant shut-in" I think our boy can enjoy a party now and then. Humans, even the ones that are introverted, have been consuming substances and hanging out with pretty humans of their preferred sex since some caveman discovered that rotten fruit made you feel funny. I like the parties, there's more to life than ledgers and work (or Stewardship and Learning if you prefer the gameplay parlance).

Voting is open. We seem to mostly be in agreement about the broad strokes, but I'm marginally more convinced by "reach out to noble families", so voting a plan that has that.

[X] Plan Farming Trades

[X] Plan Farming Trades

Thats fair, I am not too picky between the parties and reach out to noble families, just one of thw two. The other three actions I am more fixed on, that and the Hilde and Otto.

[X] Plan don't half ass your marriage
-[X] Attend several parties and other such events as a new and eligible bachelor.
-[X] Travel to the Royal Court and formally announce your eligibility for marriage.
-[X] Reach out to noble families who would make good political or trade connections.
-[X] Learn a skill. (What?)

For the full marriage experience

[X] Plan Royal Party Favors

If we really do want to do the rotation, might as well go big on the marriage potential.

I'm not opposed to Farming Trades or whatever I mostly just want Harold to go party, it's a minor quibble.

Maybe a couple of actions on nesiwald too? We could go with mine, convince our blacksmith friend to transfer, and/or train replacements for the plow business.. but maybe it's better to wait for that until we can actually sink multiple actions on nesiwald, which will probably take a turn or two before we get the time and available actions...

I think we need multiple action on Nesiwald, and we need to get everything in order there.

Of the current plans I like this one the best, but I think I'd like to make a small change to prep for the Nesiwald trip, which I would like to do next turn.

[X] Plan Farming Trades

Specifically, I want to investigate Abram Waller, that way, next turn we already know if we need to take more drastic action in Nesiwald, or if we only need to do a few things.

[X] Plan Nesiwald Prep
-[X] Reach out to noble families who would make good political or trade connections.
-[X] Have your cousin Byers Catalina arrange meetings with women you might like.
-[X] Make the peasants and villagers to switch to four-field crop rotation. From the news you've gotten from Nesiwald, it actually works. This is starting to be overdue.
-[X] Learn a skill. (What?)
--[X] Finish learning Swordplay from your mother. (1/2)
-[X][Hilde] Investigate Abram Waller and see how competent he really is, and if he is stealing from you or engaging in corruption.
-[X][Otto] Supervise work on the new iron mine in your fief to make it as productive and safe as possible. 2 profit

At this point I think we really do need to get Timothy Green down here to work on things that are hard to do.

[ ] Try to convince Timothy Greens to move to Zoetdorf by offering to teach him to make piston-pumps and cannons, which probably count as a Masterwork. (2 Profit if successful.) (Unlocks cannon prototype)
[ ] Try to convince Timothy Greens to move to Zoetdorf by buying him a smithy and paying him well to move. (6 Profit. Guaranteed to work, no roll.) (Unlocks cannon prototype)
[ ] Arrange for the cast iron plow business to continue even without Timothy Greens by training up some replacements.

That means we need to do one of the first two options, and we need to do the second option.

So two actions are going to be locked into Nesiwald at some point (maybe Autumn?), plus I figure that we ought to have Otto improve the Nesiwald mine at the same time.

I had been leaning toward Plan Farming Trades, but the point about Nesiwald is a good one: we already lost one asset over there due to neglect (the QM said our deputy there is both less skilled and less dedicated than our protagonist). Let's try to avoid losing more.

I think I'm going to combine them and make it a negotiation/diplomacy roll, that costs 2-6 profit to get him on board in one action. Seems more streamlined.
