When insight ranks up, we gain the next skill from our school. It's 150 Insight to insight rank 2.

Honor is useful. It gives a bonus to certain things and generally how much people respect you. Though its a double edged sword in that people expect you to act a certain way.

Glory is how famous you are, the higher this is the more likely it is that people have heard of you. Of course, not all people like to be well known.

Status is how important in Rokugani society you are. The higher this is, the more likely you are to be able to call on your resources other than yourself. Also good for favors :V

Oh... I don't think we will be able.to go with the Yasuki. ..

We received an invitation by all the others...

@Maugan Ra could you roll etiquette so we could know what would be the appropriate action here?

After all we received invitation from people of different status...

You don't even really need to roll. This isn't a formal setting, and while people are indicating they wouldn't mind your company, there aren't formal invitations being sent around either. You won't commit a gaffe or insult anyone by picking the wrong person to go and speak to.

Insight Rank: 1
Insight: 136
Honour: 5.6
Glory: 1.7

Your insight rank indicates which school techniques you have access to, and also boosts your initiative. Most schools have five techniques at most, and in the majority of cases you'll aim to finish one before beginning another.

Your insight determines which Insight Rank you have. It is calculated as ((sum total of all rings)x10) + (sum total of skill ranks). At 150 you'll be Rank 2, and each new rank after that requires an additional 25 insight.

Your Honour is a purely internal stat. It is increased and decreased by acting in different ways, and while it provides some small benefits to resisting Fear and intimidation/temptation, it is primarily a roleplaying tool. It is the easiest to increase, especially since gains at lower levels are worth more, but it is also relatively easy to lose.

Your Glory, as noted represents how famous and generally well known you are. It is generally a positive thing - more glorious samurai get taken seriously, allowing them to go places and do things others cannot. It is also paired with another stat known as Infamy, which is virtually identical except that it records the weight of your negative reputation. These two are somewhat harder to increase, as they are dependent on accomplishing things within view of others who can speak of it later, and will decrease on their own over time if not fed by a constant stream of deeds.

Your Status is your rank in Rokugan's social hierarchy. An average samurai has Status 1, the Emperor will have Status 10. If someone is in the same Clan or organization as you, you can give them orders if your status is higher than theirs. Even if they're in a different organization, high status means they'll probably obey or at least consider obeying you anyway, because Rokugan is a society rather fond of its social obligations and following orders.

So, of the available options...

- [ ] Yogo Hanzo
It is good that we have welcome with our fellow Scorpion, but we can talk with Yogo-san at any time. It's not that mroe interaction and character development on that side woudl be unwelcome, but this pick is valuable, and ought to be spent improving our situation. Skip.

- [ ] Doji Mariko
Helps us push our position with the Crane. Useful for convincing Doji Mariko that we're romantically interested in her. Strengthens the hand of the Crane a bit in court, and aligns us with them more fully. Makes the narrative of the day something that she could (and would) turn to advantage, and not in a way that is to our favor. Not unuseful, but too costly. Sadly, *not* taking this option loses us a step or two on the Doji Mariko romance track, but as long as we have an obvious strong reason to sit with someone else, it shouldn't be too bad.

- [ ] An unknown Lion with the marks of a ranking military officer
This would be worthwhile for pushing further our relationship with the Lion. It would also increase the perception of our relationship with the Lion. Given the importance of our relationship with the Crane, and how precarious they're feeling at the moment, that's not best. Also, we don't really *need* any more Lion influence at the moment.

- [ ] Yasuki Mia
First of the solid choices. Gets us our introduction to the Crab Clan, which is *great*. It's also a justifiable reason for not spending time with Doji Mariko, which helps. Clarification question, though... @Maugan Ra - did we actually get an (informal) invitation from her as well? If we did, it's rather more of an opportunity than if we did not.

- [ ] Otomo Kairyu
Second of the solid choices. Lets us progress our relationship with the Otomo, get a somewhat clearer idea on what he might want with respect to various things, and be seen with the man, which generally helps us. Given that "pander to the Otomo" is a pretty strong secondary goal for this Winter Court, there's some value here.

- [ ] Do not return to the tournament, but use the opportunity to attend to something else.
This is a waste, and should be skipped.

So... I'm thinking Yasuki Mia if we did get a direct invitation from her (however informal), or Otomo Kairyu if we did not.

Technically, you got the invitation from her second Hida bodyguard (only Kinra entered the tournament), who is standing at her shoulder. It's impossible to tell from a distance whether that means she asked him to call you over (subtly) or if she just doesn't care all that much.

[x] Yasuki Mia

Seems like a reasonably useful yet neutral choice. Plus, one of the delegations we currently don't know anything about.

One of the other things to keep in mind is that, while our superior is technically handling the Lion at the moment, our whole purpose for being here is to ensure the Pass remains open to our Clan, which means not aggravating the Lion too much and not making the life of our lady Bayushi harder than it need be.

[X] Doji Mariko

We made a deal with the Lion that requires us to get something out of the Crane, passing up opportunities to interact with the Crane seems counter-productive.
