... Well I for one look forward to the generous administration of our new Grail-Kun, Matthew-Sama."So to send you off, I give you these words of parting. How did that poor creature say…?"
The colors wrapped around her in a riot of torment and execution, burning themselves into flesh, brain, and soul. Walpurgisnacht merely paved their way.
Necrotic ooze vacated every orifice as she writhed in agony eternal and ephemeral. Black, all colors combined, engulfed her body. The curse I erected to give her what was owed-
-thrice over--for the temerity. Of taking Medea. Of hurting Ritsuka. Of threatening them all.
"Ah." I snapped my fingers with a satisfied huff, remembering the words at the rush of vindication.
"The Starting Penalty is Five."The burbling husk collapsed.
That just means Hero Creation Kits have a bit more in them than the old ones, which are still perfectly fine. After all, Gil approves of them!Yep, that's who he quoted. He was in close proximity to the thing, after all.
I might not have spelled it out in text, but this is a lot of what Matt's had repressed. Willingly and otherwise.
Camelot was always going to be Camelot, the real question is how closely of the God-King of Storms holds to their Instrumentality plan.Hmmm... Hmmmm... hmmmmmmmmmm...
Anyone else concerned by the fact that Morgan has somehow managed to claim Jerusalem, considering the power of the factions at play in the cannon singularity that has me... a tad concerned shall we say.
I don't know about anyone else, but I imagined "One-Winged Angel" playing through most of that.

Well alright then that happened, and I have to say there's going to be some interesting conversations after this!
On a different note Matthew from what I'm getting turned into a sexy mature white-haired version of himself so I have to ask did Cu experience some very badly timed arousal seeing Matthew like this?
I don't know about anyone else, but I imagined "One-Winged Angel" playing through most of that.
I actually played Nanatsu No Taizai OST Hendrickson Meliodas vs Drole and Gloxinia Theme during some of it but yeah that could fit as well though granted I'm not sure either song quite fully fits.
OHHH ANGRA YOU WILLY SCAMP! YOU'RE FINALLY IN YPU PROPER CLASS TO BE A DIVINE SPIRIT AND YOU'RE LOVE FOR IRISH WOMEN AND MEN HAS NOT WANED A BIT!
Matthew's spirit was at The least from what I could tell a beast canidate class threat like kama-mara. As well as the fact morgause or a similar creature may well have been within matthew at one point. So as somebody who is still fairly clueless about the deeper Nasu lore, what are the main take-aways here aside from the wannabe-Aphrodite poking what shouldn't be poked and unleashed Matthew's superpowered evil side?

1: Called it. The Pretender bit, anyway, and I know I wasn't alone in that. The main things I brought out in this chapter:
1. Patroclus has access to Akhilleus Kosmos, his Shield NP that can counter Karna's turbo-nuke (once) and the reason Achilles qualifies for Shielder. I also outright named his class as Pretender. Stat sheet incoming eventually!
2. Heracles is revealed to be Saber, with Marmyadose at his side. He is not, however, Grand Saber. Marmyadose being the sword passed down to Artoria and the reason she could loan out Excalibur in myth because she had a blade with even more readily available firepower. Again, eventual stat sheet incoming!
3. Manaka superimposed the 'idea' of the demons the Ars Goetia were based on onto Solomon's Familiar constructs. This has created conflicting impulses and given a measure of free will to those governing sub-sections of the Time Temple. Ergo, Forneus read the tea leaves and got out of dodge. The real demons don't exist (anymore) so the names are free real estate.
4. I heavily implied the original spirit that was summoned into Matthew has deep connections to Morgause, aka PHH Morgan in this fic. It is in fact, something that could be called an inheritor of hers. There was a previously-established curse which ripped them out of Matthew, leaving Morgan to pour as much fairy juice in as possible to fill the gap. INaRM Morgan has reasons for being sentimental both to said spirit and to Matthew.
5. The Hydra is on the Good Shit, and kept Orion locked down due to him having a conceptual poison weakness. By the time he had freedom to move, Matthew had gone Off the Rails. As a counterpoint, Heracles had bonuses against the Hydra for killing it in the first place and having a magma sword. Likewise, Illya's Sitonai component and having a canine companion version of Shiro out added even more plus modifiers. Combining forces turned it into a conceptual cakewalk.
6. I implied both Matthew's Fairy Name and his Title. Letters are missing obviously, but I did write them out. Like how Artoria and Morgan were both Avalon le Fae, the two concepts are separate. People who know me/have followed the breadcrumbs I laid down will probably see where I am going.
7. This one is slightly subtle, but Matthew's skewed form awoke Sefer Raziel HaMalakh. What I mean is he's in a form that leans more towards his less humane impulses, but is no more or less true than the person we've come to know over the course of the fic. The 'real' Matthew is somewhere in the middle. So back to the book, Kunapipi said it would take an equal and opposite force to get the tome to work. One has to consider the themes of Sefer Raziel Hamalakh in order to theorize what that means for this form of Matthew.
Yep, that's who he quoted. He was in close proximity to the thing, after all.
Steel clashed with the furor of the storm. Castor reeled against the onslaught of spear-blows, and his sister was unable to match the speed of his aggressor.
Achilles' grin was nothing short of feral as he hammered his advantage, swatting the bladed discs the male twin favored aside. The enemy Saber (without a sword) was good; he'd give him that. But-
A discus clattered into Achilles' bared bicep, skittering off into the sand.
The roiling world around them flickered. In the seconds Cu could see outside he saw… nothing. Boiling black emptiness.
"If they can't get rid of that soon…" Patroclus murmured, even as they charged.
Cu exhaled through his nose. "We've our own issues here."
"Can't hear you! Too busy winning!" Achilles' exhilarated grimace never faltered.
Mash released the field, plucking her shield from the deck of the Pequod. With a grunt, she launched herself backwards, back to the mast and shield before her.
i take it your version of the twin servants don't share their traits between the bodies depending on who's in charge?
aka Castor doesn't have the benefitr of Twin God's essence (which should act as divinity) to bypass achilles's skin's weakness to servants with divinity, while his sister dows?
confused by the grammar
was mash hearing Fou here?
great use of putting the new voice on the opposite side of the text box - really added to the creepy! *applauds*
can some less smoot brained person who gets who Matthew is spell it out for me
i never was the best in this kind of puzzles
As a counterpoint, Heracles had bonuses against the Hydra for killing it in the first place and having a magma sword.
I think i have an idea on the back 2 names already - could someone explain how to apply a spoiler box?
i'm a bit confused
or am i still misunderstanding itso is Matthew both a artuia and the Leanan Sidhe
Not the, an. As far as I'm aware, the Leanan Sidhe part of it is more title than Name, with a capital N.i'm a bit confused
or am i still misunderstanding itso is Matthew both a arturia and the Leanan Sidhe
I get it I do it feels a bit rude when someone does that as well I would have never fu*king guessed it even with the sub bells hint and cerrunos being big and straight forward.Given Finagle put it out for all and sundry to see...
Yes, the title is 'Leanan Sidhe'. The fairy lover who granted inspiration in exchange for shortened lifespan.
As an obvious note, I've Nasu'd the actual history of such a thing. Given Matthew's proclivity for making codes that can double as art and his, ahem, proclivities, those were the breadcrumbs to that reveal. Obviously he isn't sapping life force for inspiration, and is more prone to making things himself than inspiring artists.
The proper reveal for that in-story will be in the Zero arc, which should give some implications to gnaw on.
EDIT: I'm not angry/disappointed/etc., was just justifying why I was making this post! Realized how the tone came off a few minutes after hitting save.
"Our captain, useless as he is, remains in danger. We seek a truce." Pollux folded her arms.
Aphrodite's grip was broken. The Dioscuri were free.
Cu Chulainn inhaled. "Right. It looks like we've larger issues than a love-goddess and Hydra."
…perhaps he earned the flat gaze Pollux gave him.
Somehow, the tone of truth echoed, biting into Ritsuka's very soul. The Servants - Achilles, Patroclus, Musashi, Medusa, Mash, even Medea, Kuzuki, Sieg and Astolfo - he saw their faces contort.
Jason, with a look of one who had experience in such matters, immediately sidestepped behind Ritsuka and ducked. He laid a hand on his back, but made no threatening movements.
Hmhm. How adorable.
