Hey folks! It's been a good minute so I wanted to talk about some housekeeping stuff for this fic.
For starters, I have made a little headway on the current chapter - roughly five pages, but my irl work (aka the bill-payer) has been On Fire and I am just seeing the end of that. Maybe. I'm grateful for you folks' patience and hope to make the wait worth it.
That leads into the three topics I wanted to post on: Lostbelt 6, Daybit, and the flow of story.
The first one is flow of story. After this, I'm gonna amend the order of arcs in the informational post so that Zero, London, and d'If take place after New Years. As of right now in the timeline Okeanos is happening early December. Cramming three multi-chapter arcs between Christmas and New Year's - roughly a week - stretches my suspension of disbelief. And I'm the writer. The conceit is that London has to immediately follow Zero, but have a short downtime before d'If. For reasons. I can't fit the latter in that six-day span. So between New Years and Valentine's is a much easier pill to swallow on that front. Nothing is getting cut per se, but for the sake of having a coherent timeline I'm doing some shuffling.
Lostbelt 6. It was a ride, I am hype for when it comes here in two years, but it established some canon I am debatably enthused about - especially considering Morgan. That said! While I'm not using the Morgan three-in-one conceit (because I have established things on their own merit already), this does not mean I will not use many of the other tasty morsels that I've been given to sink my teeth into. Nothing is going to change my endgame for this fic, but I have uses for Avalon Le Fae to sprinkle characters and worldbuilding throughout the story - and not just in the Camelot arc. I won't spoil what I will and won't use, but expect interesting twists that fit within what I have given you so far.
Daybit. He is the major stumbling block (aside from my own sheer exhaustion from Life) that is keeping me from having a concrete vision for this fic. He won't be getting a Grand Servant because I've planned all of them out already. The unrevealed ones won't match canon because I've jumped well ahead, but given Assassin is the only one-candidate gig I'm not too perturbed by it. And thus I run into my issue: I had the information on Kadoc, Ophelia, Hinako, and Kirsch. I can easily make what we learned about Pepe and Beryl in Avalon Le Fae fit. I have less than nothing on Daybit aside from smart as hell, got kicked out of the Clocktower's Lore Department, and he's from Nevada. Without a backstory, I am hesitant to touch his character because so far he's the second biggest mystery of Cosmos in the Lostbelt. Heck, at this point aside from 'liked Pepe' I can't even call my concept of him a character.
Does this change my ending? No. Does it affect the actual plot? ...not really. However - it does affect a handful of minute details surrounding him and how he fits in with the Crypters and what he can contribute. I could spin something wholesale, but it'd rub me the wrong way. That said, if I do hit Camelot before LB7 (which is 50/50 depending on if I pick up my writing speed and work leaves me energy) I will ultimately fill in the blanks myself and call it 'yet another facet of the kaleidoscope'.
