Hybrid Hive: Eat Shard? (Worm/MGLN) (Complete)

If the Apple class is about 7 times larger in each dimension, then it would be over 300 times more massive then the next class down. That's a rather astonishing large gap between two classes, almost 3 orders of magnitude. Usually there are a lot more in between sized craft for support, at least something like one for each order of magnitude mass difference. Else you get basically that the equivalent of a Super carrier only has some fast attack ships of a few hundred tons as supports. Which is nice and all, but probably fairly inefficient for some of the support tasks one would like to run like logistics support.

Admittedly they're just scaling up rapidly right now but I'd speculate it's something that probably in future will cause issues and make further in between classes necessary.

What kind of logistics support does a magical megascale omniship which probably has 1800 times the engineering capacity of a Blueberry, just one of which can do serious work on setting up starlifters, need?

One doing cleanup on an infestation of several trillion parasitic multidimensional rogue game consoles and its thousands or millions of siblings that may or may not be out there.

Still might be overkill, not sure that a fleet of just the blueberry class wouldn't be sufficient.

In theory, you could let a toddler loose in any of the children-friendly areas of the resort without any parental supervision and not have to worry about their safety. Or them being fed, getting a nap in when they were tired, and other such things. Ideally, you'd take advantage of the various nanny devices or drones for children that you didn't want to monitor directly, but in theory you didn't need to.
Any idea how to avoid parents leaving their children and then leave the planet?

Simple, make it so the exit doesn't let them out if all those they came in with and are responsible for aren't accounted for. Then a follow up review on why it happened and possible corrective measures. Simple irresponsibility? Trying to abandon an unwanted kid? etc.

Just needs to be thought of and implemented ...

"As for the homeworld construction, even if the one Blueberry was enough to manage the build-up in a day or two" - seems like the past conquest building and upgrading infrastructure phase won't take long at all ...

Banana class small craft carrier.
Looks like a full stalk of banana, which when agitated, all the individual banana fly off in an angry swarm of yellow and black things calling to mind a swam of hornets. Even though you can't hear sound in space, rule of cool terror means you swear you hear the buzz of swarms of stinging insect.

@tedr I'm sure that by combining magic and some shard techniques they could actually project the sound of stinging insects into whatever they were facing off against.

More Ship Pics (Chapter 164)
I have some more pictures of the various ship classes, to continue from the previous Media threadmark.

For example, here's a Blueberry Pie with an Empire State Building for scale.

And a couple of images of the Apple...

And let's even go with a couple of Coconut pictures!

You don't need to add them at all if that's your goal.
But you only get the obvious crackpot conspiracy theorists if you don't include something more substantial for them to latch onto!
Huh. Why would they even have golf? It's such a specific sport that I wouldn't imagine it showing up on alternate earths without major differences. Aleph sure, but the Hidden Kingdom should have diverged much earlier.

Skiing is more general, but I'd still expect some cultural / technological variations.

Or are they not planning on hiding that they built this for Bet and Bet-similar Earths? That would help explain a lot, so might be a good idea regardless.
"The kingdom built an Earth-style resort with our own touches, though those working on it didn't realize that Earth resorts tend to be a little more...specialized."
The resort stuff was fun for a while but it's starting to get a little repetitive.
...if you want repetitive I can start detailing all the shards they're processing in the background.

Most of which they're learning nothing from because they're not connected to anyone and thus haven't unlocked any new data.
So is someone going to spend a couple of weeks tripping over perfectly flat floors?
They got themselves with the oil too, Missy was just too close to them when they did so.
Those tours are they going to be luxury cruise ships or not
Think luxury oversized flying tour bus, as it's only a day tour at most. :V
Sudden terrifying reminder that the reason it's called the Saint's Cradle is because the Sankt Kaiser used it as a glorified nursery and daycare.
And the name before that was simply "the Warship".
On the other hand, when they already have independent ships meant to dock to each other for some purposes, the next design set should be obvious: Build Voltron. If you can build Voltron, do it. Don't stop there, either, there are lots of ideas that might not be entirely practical, but that would be very cool, and is that not reason enough to build them? They're harvesting entire solar systems, so there's no shortage of material to go around.
...Voltron isn't even 400 feet tall. Why would they build Voltron?

Even the Coconut class is physically smaller than individual shards. They're only dealing with them so well because they're attacking across physical dimensions that the shards have no way to defend along.

Teleporters.

Missed a phunny with the ship class names. Should have called the Apple class the Lime class. Then they could "Put the Lime in the Coconut..."
Well, if they did that, they might have to make a Lemon class. And that just wouldn't work. :V

Wait, so they don't even have old data from previous cycles? Or is this where all the data that they could have gotten was already spread out to the rest of the shards already processed?

Or is it that there's data Team Mana hasn't unlocked from it yet, that would be unlocked through the shards connecting to people?

It doesn't have to only be 400 feet tall. We can Gurren Lagann this!

...OK, now I'm picturing a planet sized robot with a giant apron holding a "pie" lol.
So... build a Voltron, then build an even bigger Voltron to put that Voltron in, and repeat four or five times?

Is each Voltron also made of a set of 5 increasingly bigger robot lions? Do they each have a combination sequence before slotting the previous Voltron in? Do they call out the "and I'll form the head" line each time? :p

I believe they already have the Old Data. It's the New Data from individual hosts that is missing.

And now I'm picturing five fully assembled Voltrons combining into a single new Voltron. I'm also picturing the pilots of each Voltron arguing over which one should form the head this time, since that's the one that actually controls everything.
