New Good Seed and Omake Rule Updates
Good Seed and Omake Spreadsheet Rules:

Firstly, if you have questions about Good Seeds and the like please read here. If that doesn't answer your question please ping me in thread, or on Discord.

If you write a new Good Seed, or write an omake, please update the spreadsheet if you have access.

If you do not have access, please ping a collaborator (Swordomatic, Alectai, Quest, TehChron, Insane-Not-Crazy, Humbaba, ReaderOfFate, Kaboomatic, no., BungieONI) letting them know what you want and they will update the spreadsheet here. To gain access, you will need a gmail account of some kind. Throwaway emails are fine (I'm using one for the spreadsheet), but to gain access it's as simple as sending me either your email via PM, via DM in Discord, or just in Discord's #spreadsheet-requests channel.

This is mandatory. If a Good Seed does not record their omake by pinging collabs (or just requesting access and editing things themselves - this is the preferred option), I won't give out awards. If a new Good Seed is not recorded here, they won't advance. By doing this it makes the whole thing manageable for me - it's gotten pretty unwieldy!

-----------------------

Omake Writer Instructions:

There are four fields you need to fill out.

Omake Link, which is just a link to your first omake for the turn. This makes it easier for me to read them as I do the update - without this it's tough to know off the bat which omake were written this turn, and to properly

Requested Bonus, which is your requested bonus for your omake. You can leave it up to me if you like. You can see more info in the Good Seed infopost here.

Cultivation Aims. For those following unorthodox paths - higher than 9th Heavenstage or later than 7th Dao Pillar paths. Please put in what you are aiming for before you break through. I have left it as 'default'. If you do not edit it, I'll go with that.

Turn Notes - Do you want to do something specific? Enter a Secret Realm? Help the Clan out in some way? If you have something specific you want to accomplish on this turn, put it in turn notes so I can adjust your Fate around it.

All other fields are for QM use to record character information to properly run the flow of the game.

Tisamenos froze.

"Yes, you."

As she spoke, tokens began shattering, and people began teleporting out. First one, then ten, then hundreds, then thousands, an entire army melting away like snow in summer.

"Write, write. I have notes for you."
I am sorry @occipitallobe, I have decided to adopt Tisamenos. He is now my adjutant and papermonkey and is recruited into my staff.

Rip. Now the other good sides like my boi nike are gonna look lame compared to all this. Occipital put the best show on first.

Good chapter!

Hey, Tasos actually did something! Yaaaaaaaay.

Pleuron was really fun to read. Thanks for all the hard work, Occip.

Also, I can actually write Omake again now. Last one had written me into a bit of a corner.

"Records the details. If we fail and the city falls, try and hide them somewhere. They might be useful in future."
Record
The north wall burst and shattered, a massive wave of force spreading out, catching thousands of enemy cultivators in a field of amber, making them slowed, unsteady.
slower
ShatterDao Four-Step Poison, killing a Core Formation cultivator and forcing tens of thousands of of others to retreat.
repeat word

Well then. I wonder just how many of the 13 can still fully recover after this? I kinda would prefer it if about half of them just die out, to cement their feat of heroics amd clear the field for a new set of Seeds.

Good Seed System - ALL GOOD SEEDS READ
We've spent almost a week on Discord hashing out a new Good Seed systems.

This post is now the FAQ for all things Good Seed.

(1) What is a Good Seed?

A character in-thread. Each 20 year turn they get a roll which tells us how they cultivate and what their Fate is. This helps give omake writers something to use, and is also a fun gameplay mechanic. The core purpose of the Good Seed system is to generate omake, however.

(2) How do I create one?

Please write a character background in-thread. There are three rules. One, you must be the 1st Heavenstage of Qi Condensation (new cultivator, basically). Two, try and write a background. Generally it helps if you write one Cool Thing about your character. These have no strict mechanical effect, but help us write Fates. Aside from a few grandfathered cases - you mostly know who you are.

Once you write and post it, please ping one one of the collaborators, or myself. Two or three pings is fine as well. They're listed in the pinned post at the top of every page.

They'll add you to the spreadsheet. If you want to update anything, ping a collaborator. Spreadsheet access will be given to every Good Seed in time, but we're still working out specifics.

(3) How does this work on a turn-to-turn basis? What are the core mechanics?

(3.1) Cultivation

Firstly, the core mechanic, the absolute core mechanic is Cultivation. The higher your cultivation the more you can do. A Nascent Soul cultivator can murder cities by thinking at them in a mean way. Early Qi Condensation cultivators are really strong human beings.

So the more, the better.

You can see more on the cultivation post.

(3.2) Impact Score

Secondly is Impact Score.

Each character has an Impact Score. This is how much more you can do than your cultivation implies. It might be cool items. It might be a secret sword technique. You might be a poison master, or have a powerful beast ally. Maybe you're good at carving arrays, or healing.

Each point of Impact raises your Overall Impact by one Heavenstage in Qi Condensation, by 1/3rd a stage in Foundation Establishment, and by 1/6th a stage in Core Formation.

So if you have 5 Impact Score and are a 3rd Heavenstage Qi Condensation cultivator, you are as impactful as an 8th Heavenstage one.

This allows the classic 'xianxia punching up trope' to take effect.

(3.3) Health

Each character can be so healthy. There are five stages of health. Healthy, Lightly Wounded, Wounded, Heavily Wounded, Crippled, and Dead. If you're healthy, great! Lightly Wounded are bad wounds that will recover in the same turn you get them, only slowing your cultivation.

Your health status will depend on your Fate. Bad rolls? Gonna get hurt.

Wounded will slow your cultivation for two turns, and Heavily Wounded for three. (Each turn you heal one step, so Heavily Wounded becomes Wounded, Wounded becomes Lightly Wounded and so on).

Crippled is permanent, and stops you cultivating until you heal it with a Healing Treasure.

Death is of course death.

(3.4) Turns

Each turn is 20 years. You get a Fate roll, and a Cultivation roll. A good Fate roll offers rewards (more Impact, Cultivation, or even precious Omake Reward treasures), a bad one offers bad health outcomes. Your Fate is written as a paragraph or two, a plot hook to get you writing, and so on.

Notably all omake for a turn contribute towards a Fate Bonus. The more you write, the better off you're likely to be. Likely, though. Our single largest omake contributor has had some terrible luck to round out the great Fate bonuses, for instance. No guarantees.

You can write what you're looking to do in each turn if you want an omake hook.

You can also enter Secret Realms - these are places where the dangers are immense, but so are the potential rewards. There are a list of available Secret Realms on the Clan spreadsheet. Note that you can only enter once per Great Realm per Realm unless otherwise noted. So once for Qi Condensation, once for Foundation Establishment, and so on.

(3.5) Omake Rewards

Omake Rewards are rewards for writing your first omake for the turn. You cannot get two. Even a tiny omake at 200 words is enough. Even 'this is crap, I hate it, I should never post it' is fine. The system is designed to get you writing and posting what you write! Drawings, poems, etc, all count as omake. Basically any form of creative expression.

As a rule if I think an omake (for some reason) shouldn't be rewarded I'll still reward you but let you know it won't happen next time.

Omake offer six rewards.

Tribulation Boosts - Needed to get through Tribulation if you go to a higher Heavenstage. Halves time needed to prepare for a tribulation.

Healing Treasure - Wounded? Crippled? Not anymore! A Healing Treasure heals all wounds of any kind at the start of your turn. Cannot be stockpiled.

Cultivation Boost -
Gain 20 years extra cultivation.

Impact Boost - Gain 3 Impact. This can be something you write in an omake (like an item, skill, etc), or you can ask for someone to make something up for you.

Lifespan Boost - You can only live so long each Great Realm. A Lifespan boost offers you 40 years of life on top of your current max lifespan! Useful if you're butting up against the edge of what your life can offer.

Lifesaving Treasure - Triggers if you are Wounded or worse. Improves your results by two steps. So Death -> Heavily Wounded. Wounded -> Not wounded. Crippled -> Wounded. Guarantees you will not die on a turn where you are holding one. Heavily recommended to have at least one if you don't want to die.

A piece of errata here - Note that it improves your results by two steps, so if you're Wounded (2 steps) to begin with and roll Death (5 steps) you'll end up with a 7-step outcome (very dead), and return to Crippled (4 steps). Only applies if you start the turn injured in some way, though.

(4) Defying the Heavens

If you have 10 or more Impact, you can look at trading it in for something cool. What, you ask? I don't know. Come talk to me and we'll figure it out. Jin Muyi's legendary acquisition of the Stone Spear, Maria's insane use of her tribulation to force back a Nascent Soul, these are the things characters have done by burning Impact. You get to do something cool and plot-relevant in the main thread. The more you spend, the more you can do. If you want to do this, either DM me here, or on Discord. It's a case-by-case thing, but we'll always sort something cool out.

(5) Retirement

If you're done with a Good Seed, let me know and we can retire them from the system.

Hmm... Cool cool. The new system makes a lot more sense, is more streamlined allowing more people to write fates, and is all in all a massive improvement to the old system.

It is a shame that it nukes my plan for my good seed. I wanted to see how far only fight across realms bonuses could take him. Well back to the drawing board with that.

Your best equivalent for that would be stacking Impact Boosts as much as possible.

Yes,and that is likely what I will end up doing. Fight beyond realms was interesting to me because the old rules said it would allow a date roll on the combat for a great realm above your level while auto passing a fight at your level. The new rules don't allow that. The new system has you need more turns to become a murder blender. That makes sense. It does however change how I get to that murder blender stage. If my good seed needs more time to be a murder blender, then stack fight beyond realm bonuses is worst than getting life saving treasures to give him that time.

In the end all it really means is shuffling around when I give my good seed different buffs.

@occipitallobe can you give out the list of the good seeds who died?

I'm tired of waiting for the good seed post to see who survived, and if it's worth to spend time on preparing an omake.

I roll them as I write the reports, sorry. Majority of them haven't been rolled yet.

If anyone is in the same boat (it has been a very long turn) and wants an update for omake purposes, please let me know. I might do a post for those people prior to the last bit of the turn (Saving Juniors I think I'll fold into a post with Good Seed Updates alongside it - story/update as one - then the rest of the Good Seed update, then the council post).

Healing Treasure - Wounded? Crippled? Not anymore! A Healing Treasure heals all wounds of any kind at the start of your turn. Cannot be stockpiled.
The start of the turn? That's useful to know and very reassuring for people.

Huh. So, this means that... If any of the Good Seeds who are Crippled or Heavily Wounded pick "Healing Treasure" for the upcoming turn, then their Fate rolls for that turn will be 'normal, no Crippling or Wounds' ones? Without the Healing Treasure, you'd be rolling with the Maluses for Heavily Wounded/Crippled/whatever, and then if you survive those very-penalized rolls (and your Wounds don't get worse due to said rolls), you get 1 stage of health better. If you instead use the Healing Treasure, then it's like a cure-all, a Panacea, and applies right away.

(Huh, Panacea. Now that I think about it, that even sounds like a term the Optimatoi would deliberately use at times, because of that. As well as probably (dia)catholicon and elixir and variants thereof. Neat!)

And of course the reason you can't stockpile Healing Treasures is because... well, simply because the Life-Saving Treasure fills that purpose! LSTs are what you stockpile; and they activate to ablate away Crippling and stuff. Healing Treasures are when you want/need a cure-all in response to having taken heavy damage.

Neat. Clear purpose for both treasures. Also means that, previously if you had gotten Crippled and were wondering "Ugh, I had a Life-Saving Treasure, if the fate had been a tiny bit worse, I ironically could have gotten away healthy!" you instead get Heavily Wounded. Which, of course, thus means that you need to wonder and choose between picking another Life-Saving Treasure and letting your condition progress and heal naturally; which means you get the assurance of avoiding death, but you are slowed down a lot in cultivation, and risk death-spiraling. Or getting a Healing Treasure immediately, but having no assurance against another horrible dice roll killing you out of the blue. But on the other hand, your dice roll would be going fully Healthy, and you'd be right back to Cultivating immediately, so...

LSTs are what you stockpile; and they activate to ablate away Crippling and stuff. Healing Treasures are when you want/need a cure-all in response to having taken heavy damage.
it could, at my reading, be fluffed that it's not a cure-all but a specific solution to your specific crippling

Omake reward - Sentient Venom
Fate -
Held Pleuron against all odds. Brewed the ShatterDao Four-Step Poison, killing a Core Formation cultivator and forcing tens of thousands of of others to retreat. Due to a lack of time, brewed this poison in her own body to allow it to be used, allowing the Indomitable Thirteen to complete their impossible strike. At the moment has the strength, speed, and vitality of an old mortal woman, though her touch is still death to any who oppose her.
Cultivation - Early FB (Second Pillar)
Health - Crippled. Dantian has become a Poison Cauldron, meridians now only flow with Poison Qi. Minervina exists but a step away from death at all times until this is resolved.

so, would my poison absorption pill I created as my starting cool thing, work on healing her and boosting her strength(I expected to to happen to my character, not someone else)

I am sorry @occipitallobe, I have decided to adopt Tisamenos. He is now my adjutant and papermonkey and is recruited into my staff.
I can have him first turn? I need someone to organize my stuff while I get new arms made

We can share him and stuff him full of stones so he doesn't keel over from a weak sneeze. :V

This is it, essentially. Life Saving Treasures let you teleport, hide, etc - solutions that almost always work to a degree.

You can't stock Healing Treasures for the same reason you can't stock up on generic 'health medicine' in the real world. You need to know the problem and figure out the right solution.

It's also why they're so much more powerful - LSTs are generic and work in all circumstances but aren't perfect. Healing Treasures are perfect for your particular problem.

Hey I just realized something, Magnus personally killed a core realm with his own 2 hands, in one hit. He will finally be able to stop felling jealous of Minervina ( I know she made the poison, but he used it, you don't credit a blacksmith for making a sword that was used to kill another person)

If I (Mildgyð Galene) become a good enough alchemist could I get some sort of advantage for making Healing treasures?

It's a shared issue, he'd have never gotten in close enough if Rina didn't shake her Dao Heart, and none of them would have gotten close if it wasn't for the rest of the strike team going to town to ward off the Foundation Establishments.

@occipitallobe The new mechanics look good and I only have one question, what are we doing with items and omake bonuses that we gained before the changes and should now have an impact value?

[If anyone wants to give an in character comment on the essay I will put it here]

Please adhere to one of the seven standard footnote notations as described by the Loritias Manual of Style.

-Keiros Cole Emendator

An excellent introductory essay with many excellent pieces of advice.

-Critias

I want my 1 cp back.

Yes, for Keiros Cole Emendator.

He knows that, he just did the killing blow, and can still brag about that,

If I (Mildgyð Galene) become a good enough alchemist could I get some sort of advantage for making Healing treasures?

No, these are purely mechanical - they're pretty much designed to give us a system that is non-individualized and can be applied to every character. Getting good at Healing would be more like Impact - you get better at healing and this lets you do more stuff (such as working in a group at a higher level).

@occipitallobe The new mechanics look good and I only have one question, what are we doing with items and omake bonuses that we gained before the changes and should now have an impact value?

Right now a few of us on the Discord are working out values for their stuff as a baseline. We'll be converting all Good Seeds this turn (was originally going to be Turn 6, but I really want to get this entire thing done and get back to writing), and all new rolls will be in the new system from here on in.

@FixerUpper @Marlin Keiros Keiros and Daedalus will be up in the next little post, probably tomorrow.

I'd appreciate it. While I still have ideas I can use, I've begun hitting the limits of what I can write without knowing my roll results. Though I can wait until later if it takes too long.

Aiiii, SHE DID IT AGAIN! ANOTHER POISONING OF SOMEONE ABOVE HER!!

I mean sure she was hurt to do it this time, but that was only because of time! Also, only having poison Qi + a Death touch feels like her goal anyway. @Katana1515 wanna join me in the Monster club with Ferenike? You can embrace the poison and become a Poison Logia

Technically, if you do still wanna go that road, it's stacking Impact Bonuses. Expect this time instead of only being able to do it once, you be able to constantly fight at tat level.

Yeah, that was mention in the Discord that with the old system it was better to die then get wounded. Since Death will trigger the LST while any of the wounds is losing cultivation time.
