Hereafter [Worm x Fate/Grand Order]

Taylor knew it was a trap, she just couldn't tell HOW it was a trap. She keep ignoring the warnings in her head in a way that's very unlike Taylor.
See, that's the problem I kept running into. But the counter problem that always crept up was, "in order to know she shouldn't step into this trap so she can turn it around on the enemy, Taylor would have to have knowledge she has no way of having right now." She doesn't know NR is a Caster class Servant, so she doesn't know she's doing the equivalent of walking into a Caster's workshop. She doesn't know that NR can pull Alice in Wonderland bullshit out of her ass. She certainly doesn't know that NR has several things that can just say, "We don't have to play by normal Servant rules, even when there are almost half a dozen of them right in front of us," and take out the Masters without having to go through Arash, Emiya, Mordred, and Mash.

However I looked at it, Taylor knew she was walking into an ambush, knew she couldn't see the whole shape of it, knew that something was going to happen, knew that she wasn't the only one who smelled something rotten because Ritsuka did, too, but didn't have any other leads to follow in the short hour and a half she had left to actually investigate things, didn't know exactly how bullshit NR is, and didn't have any idea exactly how badly this could turn on its head.

It feels a little weak to say she looked at what was in front of her and went, "Alright, I know this isn't the greatest idea, but I've got three Knight class Servants, one of whom is a Swiss Army Knife, no other leads to follow, and not much time to actually do anything of worth today. Fuck, I hate this, but I can't just go back to Jekyll's emptyhanded." But I just...couldn't find enough in the text and the scenario to convince her the thing she should absolutely do is turn around and run away as fast as she could.

She doesn't know NR is a Caster class Servant

See the problem is that you have Taylor falling into a trap when she knows things are not like she was taught about servants, has previous experience with Parahuman Masters and Strangers, and a lot of similar things. She doesn't know but suspects it is a trap and yet she doesn't take a very basic security method of not using the whole party so not all of them fall into a trap. See, while spliting the party for long is bad, risking only one or two members of the party is a suspected trap is better that risking all of them.

So like, ask Risuka and Rika to stay behind while she risks herself as she is the more "disposable" Master since she lacks Mash's Poison protection?

That is something I see Taylor doing.

Instead you have Taylor go "I will ignore every warning in my head and risk everyone in a trap."

That's out of character.

...I was going to say something about the narration, and then I remembered that the part I was going to talk about doesn't show up until next chapter.

And what if they get attacked by the Assassin?

Mash super shield ho!

Staying together in a trap risks all dying. Also she would just go herself with one or two servants, thats it, probably with Emiya as he is the most likely to be useful due to his copies of NPs.

As it is, this is the kind of stupidity I see Taylor blaming herself for years because she did not trust her instincts and took the whole freaking group into a trap.

Because yes, even for a post GM Taylor that doesn't know a thing about Servants this was dumb.

catching up after falling a bunch of chapters behind, s'looking good ngl, this singularity is pretty damn entertaining so far. i do have some comments here and there tho.
Andersen is practically useless in most cases, the main exceptions being a) someone can incite suitable authorial lust for character development in Andersen, or b) Kiara shows up and needs to be reined in.
The reason why you can't sense my presence is because I have no combat aptitude at all. I'm just an author. The only thing I'm good for is writing a book."
I am fairly certain he can do at least some things, he's by no means a combat focused servant, but like alice he can manifest his stories into reality, summon the little mermaid, the matchstick girl, the tin soldier etc. even potentially that one story about an old kind of igniter that could summon massive dogs, including one as large as a tower, like against any servant that's not gonna do much, but against mook minions it's at least something. basically, despite what he himself thinks of himself, he's not totally useless

"There wasn't any other choice," Marie said. "It had to be this way."

"It's fine, Director," I said evenly.

"After all, there isn't a method currently available to us to let you safely traverse that fog," she went on. She sounded like she was trying to convince herself as much as she was me. "It was too dangerous. The only thing it would have accomplished was to put your life at risk."

Right then, it was just pissing me off. "It's fine, Director."

"Sometimes, calculated risks are necessary for the success of the Grand Order," she continued heedlessly. "But this would have just been needless. There was no tangible gain to be achieved, so this was only the natural decision."
because Miss Taylor can't go outside in the fog, and with it interrupting communications, the only way for us to stay in contact is to use Emiya and Arash as go-betweens."
is there a reason taylor can't just also contract to mash? like, that feels like it should be an option, and then taylor will be resistant and they can all go about during fog times
Putting the central control of a robot in its head was the thing that made the most sense to people, so putting it in the chest, which could be better protected and wasn't as obvious, was the smarter choice.
surprised taylor isn't mentioning the similarities between the robots, automata and her own battles against Mannequin, he was her own little nemesis for a short while in worm, and even mostly functioned the same, with his organs in the chest, decoy head and so on, even used a cleaver among other things.

Is it possible that "Papa" is Caster Charles Lutwidge Dodson? Of course, Ed Wynn or Jerry Colonna (this would be a good place for me to put in the "other words on top of the main words", if I knew how, to mark them as the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, respectively, or at least their voices in Disney's Adaptation) would be fun but a little far fetched for a Servant ;)

That's called ruby.

[ruby='Text above letters here']Text in line with regular text here[/ruby]

Taylor is absolutely gonna come to the conclusion that Nursery Rhyme is servant Alice in Wonderland, wich isn't quite right but honestly close enough for most intents and purposes.
I hope they can still recruit Jackie because everyone's daughter got done dirty in canon. I know Taylor would give her pants!

Well now this is interesting. Nursery Rhyme takes the form of her master, but mentions "Papa." Which is odd since she's not a little boy. So something is up.
Nursery looking like Alice was particular to her Master being Alice, and ostensibly her 'normal' look in FGO to honor Alice, but Nursery Rhyme's choice of form isn't "A copy of her Master" but rather "A manifested projection of her Master's desires/mind, clad in the ideation of the Innocent, made real by the Perpetual Engine."

On a technical level the theme of 'Nursery Rhymes', and her being a champion of the Innocent are particular to the iteration in Fate Extra, from what I can tell from reading the cited materials on the wiki. Though considering Nursery remembers Alice, and is presumably stable on the Throne, those trappings may have become crucial to the living Reality Marble's existince as a Servant.

Otherwise will note tangentially I've seen the possibility raised online that "The Nameless Forest" isn't another Reality Marble of Nursery, but rather is Alice's, the Master, own Reality Marble being expressed and enabled by/merged with the Perpetual Engine.

Being one who had no notion that Nursery Rhyme's forest was a thing, I think Taylor acted reasonably. It's easy to say 'leave someone outside so not everyone is in the trap', but by the same token, 'split the party' is also considered really stupid. The best way to survive springing a trap is to generally break out with overwhelming force, so it makes sense Taylor would have the whole party go in rather than leaving someone outside and vulnerable.

"other words on top of the main words"
Iirc, the name for that is 'furigana', a form of ruby text (notations used to denote the pronunciation of a word used in logographic languages, such as Japanese, Korean, or Chinese), and is typically used to denote the proper pronunciation of a word. When used for an effect other than explaining pronunciation (such as how Fate gives NPs two names), it is called gikun.
As gikun, it is often used to denote more complex interactions, such as having 'truth' over the word 'nightmare' to denote a nightmarish (or horrifying) truth- a truth that is also a nightmare, or a nightmare which is a truth.
Another use is in subtitles, where the proper meaning of the word is deonted, with the pronunciation the actor spoke being put above it (For example, with the Harry Potter series, the spell 'firebolt' is pronunced like 'faiaboruto' (Which is Just the English name, but using Japanese pronunciation), but the proper meaning would be "honō no ikazuchi" (literally "flame thunderbolt"), so the subtitles would put 'faiaboruto' above the phrase "hono no ikazuchi" to simultaneously explain both the pronunciation and meaning.
It can also be used to clarify 'slang' pronunciations, or to associate a foreign word with a more familiar term, allowing the word to keep the 'exotic' feeling of a foreign while also being understandable.

... And yes, those two examples were shamelessly stolen from Wikipedia.

Yeah, its a reasonable choice when:
-They are on a timer and there are no alternative leads forward. Nobody in the group is the sort to choose retreat if they have no other avenue and the current option looks risky.
-They are packing considerable amounts of firepower, nobody has any reason to believe that as long as they are together, they can't brute force through an ambush or what not.
-Their chief intel source is more concerned with dramatic tension than their success, providing just the bare minimum information needed to come to an epiphany during the crisis rather than solving everything up front. Just knowing that she is a Caster would completely change the context, they're looking for an Assassin the whole way.

Though...what happens if you deploy a reality marble inside another reality marble anyway?

I think that Nasu made a comment about that, but i wouldn't know where to find it. Probably one of the Q&A's?

Edit: Yeah, in the FGO 5th Anniversary Famitsu Q&A.
Q: There are multiple characters with Reality Marbles in FGO. What happens if they use them at the same time?

Nasu:
If the opponent's output is higher, a Reality Marble can't be used. If both are equal and use them at the same time, I think the two worlds would resist each other. As the RM does not move from the position it is used (does not move with the user), the users have to decide whether to draw the opponent in, step into the opponent's world, or just wait until both RMs die out.
