Hereafter [Worm x Fate/Grand Order]

I think what happened was the one who set them off was the Type and then split into a bunch of pieces which one of which becomes Eden and Zion after awhile

Just caught back up on this and I'm enjoying it, except for the infuriating way that everyone has completely ignored the most likely candidate for the wall, the one Roman who immediately springs to mind the second 'wall' is mentioned to the point that it literally has to be a function of the Noble Phantasm that not a one of the Masters or their home team even thought of him.

I've not read back through the thread but I'd imagine there's been a lot of annoyed commentary about how Hadrian should have been the first - and honestly only - idea every single person involved should have had.

Part of that is just missing the era and the right nationality. Olga or Romani probably would have jumped to Hadrian's Wall immediately, and Da Vinci might have too if she hadn't been primed with, "Well, maybe it's Shi Huang Di," but Taylor is an American who missed way too much during her school years, the twins are Japanese, Mash is a clueless shut-in, Aife and Boudica are both too early to take it for granted, Arash is too early and too far away from it culturally, Spartacus is Spartacus, and the only parts of British history Emiya really cared about while he was alive were the King Arthur parts.

The way I looked at it was, "The only reason I know about Hadrian's Wall is because I watched that 2004 King Arthur movie with Clive Owen and Keira Knightley," and, "If someone were thinking about a powerful legend famous for building a continent-spanning stone wall, who would they assume it was first?" Since China's "Great Wall" is the most famous wall in the world, I figured Shi Huang Di is who they'd jump to first.

Whether or not the team is right in their initial assumption or really did miss the obvious answer, well, that's for later. All will be revealed in due time. I will say that it would probably make a lot more sense for Jing Ke to be there if Shi Huang Di was, too, but putting their confrontation so early would probably rob the one in LB3 of a lot of its weight. Make of that what you will, because I have said before that I will also lie to you guys sometimes when it comes to spoilery stuff for the sake of preserving the surprise later.

The only thing I'll dispute here is your description of Mash. Yes she's a shut in, but she's spent most of that time reading books and learning historical trivia. She's the one that gives most of the exposition dumps when you first arrive in Singularities and meet new Servants. She knew who Boudica was so she almost certainly knows who Hadrian is. Heck since Taylor knew who Boudica was I'd expect her to know who Hadrian is. I'd say they're almost equally obscure, with Hadrian getting slight edge since he left behind the wall that's named after him.

I'd say Boudica is more known than Hadrian in Europe considering the whole Red Layer still being around under London's soil is named after her burning that shit down.
In Europe. None of these characters are from Europe. From an American perspective Boudica & Hadrian are both historical figures related to the Roman Empire that I might be able to recall a few sentences of details on each.

Edit: Well I'll give you Da Vinci, but considering her time period I'm not sure whether she's actually more or less likely to know about the Red Layer than an American high school graduate.

as a northerm european i have no clue who hadrian is or that he built a wall, i assume it's the kinda knowledge you have to seek out to know. my knowledge on the roman empire is fairly basic all things considered, i'm unsure how much the others would know given that

This would be a credible argument if they hadn't had six weeks between Orleans and Septem where they they were preparing - including extensive study of Rome and it's history. Hadrian and his wall-building would definitely show up on even a pretty shallow investigation.

I'd say that actually applies more to Boudica everything I know about her pretty much comes from this fic. Hadrian's Wall on the other hand I've seen several references to and mentions of in tv shows and books including at least one documentary.

Hadrian started to build the wall about 60 years after Nero's reign, so it's not necessarily true that they spent much time learning about it, since it was built after the fact. Rome's history is vast, and six weeks are not nearly enough to know about every construction, battle, general political changes, allies, enemies, general legends and anedoctes.

Do they go over the many times Rome was sacked? The Punic Wars? The seven kings of Rome? The republican Era, and the start of the Empire? The advent of Christianity? The Hellenization of Rome, after conquering Greece and its colonies? The end of the Western Roman Empire? The fall of Costantinople?

Though Mash usually knows this stuff because she's an info-dump she studied and read a lot.

Roman history is big and deep, but you don't have to get that far down the 'famous leaders and legends of Rome we might run into as servants' list before you get to Hadrian.
That's true, but... there's just too much stuff to cover for six weeks. What I mean, is that It doesn't suspense my disbelief, especially if they studied the times before Nero.
