I think we should do animation in our kingdom.Incidentally, should we try the animation in our dragon nest? It sounds like the drain would be very uncomfortable for Porter.
Maybe we could find and temporarily occupy one in the lake for that part of the procedure. Unless that rule is getting changed, which I'd be perfectly fine with. We pay all the essence to animate it anyway, so I don't see why a dragon nest should be required in the first place.
Maybe, yea. I mean, I still want to gift our father wood carving tools, and do actual fun / family stuff with magic to show and remind ourselves that these powers aren't just for smiting gods and fighting the good fight, but it's not critical for me. I'll probably write something general, like "prepare for christmas".I'd replace that with just spending time with the family. Focus on being with the people rather than on the things that we can give them. Don't make that classic mistake.
Note that the build was me just guesstimating what Lash could be. DragonParadox said that we won't actually be making a build, since it would be "vessel for Lash", that we are making, rather than a "specialized arcana", so it would be fit for Lash, rather then custom-build.Turning to the actual build for a second, @DragonParadox would you consider upgrading the superior body/mind/poise trait when used for a 5 dot arcana? Right now it sets the cap to 7, which they already get for their primary attributes. If we concentrate that much of our budget in one area it seems reasonable that we'd get some sort of cap increase for the trade off instead of "just" the extra dots.
Additionally, can we take flaws that represent Lash's current narrative status, or do they have to be "new" to get points for merits?

They all had to craft their own body one way or another. It's the reason alchemicals all had to start with craft 5.Or Lash isn't statted as an arcana. I mean, she's something new. Arguably, the closest type of being to what we are making are classical alchemicals - artificial bodies sparked to life with exceptional souls.
? Classical alchemicals were made by Autochton (puppeting mortals) from souls of heroic mortals who spent multiple reincarnations being heroic. Manual of Exalted Power: Alchemicals gives the following explanation on how alchemicals were made in autochtonia:They all had to craft their own body one way or another. It's the reason alchemicals all had to start with craft 5.
Now, tell me this isn't similar to what we are designing. You take magical resources and clay, and fashion a vessel-body out of it, then you attach a transcendent heroic (in the Greek myth sense) soul to it, and inject a lot of essence into the construct.CHOSEN OF THE MACHINE GOD
The Exalted of Autochthonia are like the Exalted of
Creation. They are men and women of great passion, epic
goals and enormous power. They drive their societies forward
through inspirational example, protect them with vast
strength and advise them with superhuman insight.
The Exalted of Autochthonia are not like the Exalted
of Creation. They are heroes from the annals of history
reborn in nigh-indestructible bodies made of brass and clay.
Their Charms are integrated wonders of industrial genius.
And where the Chosen of Creation rule over the teeming
masses of humanity, the Alchemicals are Champions of god
and state. They are Exalted to protect and serve.
EXALTATION
The secret of Alchemical Exaltation is jealously guarded
by the Five Magnificent Sodalities of Penultimate Truth and
Intransigent Gospel, each of which possesses only a fifth of
the knowledge required to bring forth Champions of the
Machine God. Only by working together at the vats may new
Chosen be imbued with life and Exaltation, and only then
by unanimous vote of a National Tripartite Assembly.
The Pious Harvesters of the Hallowed Flesh know how
to create and process the alchemical broth in which the
bodies of the Exalted are cultured and catalyzed.
The Glorious Luminors of the Brilliant Rapture keep
the secret of the temperatures and cycles to which the broth
must be subjected for it to imbue its mystic benefits to the
nascent Exalt.
The Prolific Scholars of the Furnace Transcendent
understand the complex Essence technologies of the various
implants and Charms that grant the Alchemicals their
superhuman might, and it is they who forge those wonders
that will initially be incorporated into an Exalt's body.
The Meticulous Surgeons of the Body Electric are
trained in the all-important art of molding the flesh of the
Alchemical Exalted. They pack clay and wax and grease
around the implants of the Scholars, but this body is useless
without the Essence-catalyzing broth of the Harvesters or
the proper cultivation of the Luminors.
Finally, the Illustrious Conductors of the Consecrated
Veins alone understand how to properly affix a soulgem to
the Essence-infused frame the other Sodalities have crafted
and prepared.
These steps are not undertaken independently. Over the
course of eight months, the five Sodalities work together to
perform a complex ritual that joins enormous quantities of
the magical materials with exactingly machined parts, rare
clays and precisely brewed chemical concoctions to produce a
crude approximation of a human form. Next, in a painstaking
procedure requiring eight days to properly complete, a flawless
diamond soulgem is attached to the figure's brow. The valves
to the Exalt's Essence reservoir are then opened, and for the
next eight hours the Alchemical's Essence supply is ritually
purified with repeated straining and efficacious prayers until
no contaminants remain. Finally, an elaborate prayer lasting
eight minutes joins magical materials, clay, brass, Essence
and soul together into a living being. The Alchemical's eyes
open, her personality catalyzes and solidifies, and she rises
from the vats to begin her service to her nation.
Not so sure about that. Design and crafting sure, but if the connection mechanic holds I don't want to plug Lash into Molly's soul directly for any reason or any amount of time.
You don't want to reincarnate her by ritually sacrificing her and having her be reborn in a new body? Seems rad as hell to me. Also making Lash a citizen of our kingdom. Not so sure about that. We could use a photo of Last Station or Harry's leyline map to look for the most powerful currently unclaimed Dragon's nest (something like "what are the locations of the top five most powerful currently unclaimed and unmonitored Dragon's Nest in the world?"), and use that. Not so sure about that. I don't think that we can get a dragon nest without an adventure of some kind no matter how we go about it either on the trip there back. Maybe we get attacked on the way maybe other people are on the way to claim it. Maybe there just aren't any unclaimed dragon nests. We could use a photo of Last Station or Harry's leyline map to look for the most powerful currently unclaimed Dragon's nest (something like "what are the locations of the top five most powerful currently unclaimed and unmonitored Dragon's Nest in the world?"), and use that.
It seems like an unnecessary additional complication. You don't want to reincarnate her by ritually sacrificing her and having her be reborn in a new body? Seems rad as hell to me. Also making Lash a citizen of our kingdom.
In other words sacrifice herself to reself to redeem herself.
If Molly's soul qualifies as a target for this actually using it would involve connecting and draining a lot of power in a process that's typically some grade of harmful to the dragon nest.Animation: To bring her creation to life, the Exalt enacts a ritual or technical procedure lasting (Arcana's rating) hours, during which she imbues it with (Arcana's rating x 5) points of her own Essence. Finally, she connects the Arcana directly to the power of the Dragon Nest it was created in, making an Intelligence + Occult roll against difficulty (4 + Arcana's rating) to properly channel and protect the connection. The Dragon Nest is then exhausted of its power. If the roll succeeded, the Nest will recover after (Arcana's rating) weeks. If the roll failed, the Nest will recover its power after (Arcana's rating) months. If the roll botched, the Nest's power is permanently consumed.
Probably aren't a lot of those, I'd settle for one that's inhabited by someone we can take it from and keep long enough for the ritual to go off.We could use a photo of Last Station or Harry's leyline map to look for the most powerful currently unclaimed Dragon's nest (something like "what are the locations of the top five most powerful currently unclaimed and unmonitored Dragon's Nest in the world?"), and use that.
You are almost certainly right. We'll have to cross that bridge once we get there, I guess.I don't think that we can get a dragon nest without an adventure of some kind no matter how we go about it either on the trip there back. Maybe we get attacked on the way maybe other people are on the way to claim it. Maybe there just aren't any unclaimed dragon nests.
Not drain in the sense "permanently diminish". Drain in the sense of "can't be used for 5 weeks". 5 weeks is not that much, and Lash is giving us something - an ally against the fallen, if only because she has no choice there. Why the hell are we doing the highest grade body with no conditions if it requires us to drain a dragon nest? Lash should at least give us something approaching equal value to compensate.
Yeah, we'll have to look for a relatively unguarded one.Probably aren't a lot of those, I'd settle for one that's inhabited by someone we can take it from and keep long enough for the ritual to go off.
Doesn't have to be our dragon nest to be fair. We just need to find one we don't mind knocking over and get Dresden and Lydia to guard us.Why the hell are we doing the highest grade body with no conditions if it requires us to drain a dragon nest? Lash should at least give us something approaching equal value to compensate.
Porter being able to keep his in Chicago proper has some implications about the grade of defenses around mid grade dragon nests in out of the way places. If stronger things bothered with them he probably wouldn't have been able to hold on to his.
Would we even need a dragons nest for the awakening? If I understood it correctly it is the... spark(?) of Lash that is doing the heavylifting on the mythical side after we built the body itself.
Are we going to design the Po soul from scratch or take it out of an animal and remodel? This particular act of Arcanum creation would treat awakening as being at -2 dots so a 3 dot body counts as 1 for the purposes of awakening and a 5 dot one counts as 3. You still have to put some Essence in to prime the pump and make the lower soul, Lash does not have one because why would she need one for her original purpose?
I'm sure there would be no side effects associated with grafting the soul of a pigeon to the shade of a fallen angel. No magnificently comedic side effects whatsoever. Are we going to design the Po soul from scratch or take it out of an animal and remodel?
Depends on how much remodeling we do. If minimal we would want something bipedal so she doesn't have to learn how to walk and balance.I'm sure there would be no side effects associated with grafting the soul of a pigeon to the shade of a fallen angel. No magnificently comedic side effects whatsoever.
I didn't know Molly could make souls. You still have to put some Essence in to prime the pump and make the lower soul
We already made a minor god before we even had the crafting Charm.
She has already made more then 5 billion. Also untrained mortals do it all the time.
We are infernal. We can make gods. No, seriously, that's what emanations are - gods / spirits. They have souls.
