Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

It makes sense that Harry would be twitchy around that type of magic use. I doubt that "What if Lash had 10,000 roommates?" has ever been a question he'd ask himself positively.
The funny thing is that if Harry could calm down this guy might have very useful advice.

Not sure if he could purge Lash given where she came from, but forcing her into a tighter bottle might be possible.

OOC having seen her redemption arc makes people a lot more tolerant of her, but IC she's still seen as a terrifying land mine waiting to go off on Harry.

Well, it's a shame that Harry won't be able to benefit from certain implants. I guess he'll have to do with a power armor and magic firearms. And a smartphone.

I am guessing we'd need to buy Latter-Day Devil Implants in addition to Constructive Convergence of Principles in order to take advantage of cybernetics fully. A bit of a shame, I would have liked Molly to get at least a data jack and probably a medical scanning implant - basic stuff everyone has in the courts, from the looks of it.

LDDI can do it on its own, a full wizard with LDDI would just power them with his own soul and magic. CCP are for it you want to make non-implant things.

Throw in a stunt reminding Harry that everybody is immortal here, and spirits walk alongside humans here. They probably knew eachother for centuries if not thousands of years before deciding to join together.

I wonder if Harry is going to make a connection to Usum here. On a cursory level it could be seen as similar, which would probably freak him out even more.

We also still have our original problem. Harry is apparently too much of a meathead to actually directly observe proof of anything, so I'm not sure how we're supposed to convince him of the truth.

It's not that he is a meathead, he has occult 4. It is that he is a talented engineer and this stuff is quantum physics. It is not his area of expertise.

[X] Harry can deal with this on his own, you have to go meet the Exarchs
-[x]I bet that he is also an expert in unwanted possession as well. You could ask for tips for dealing with Lash.
-[x]My friend is dealing with a case of unwanted possession and could use some advice.

Yes they are, not though if they keep the implants reasonable they do not suffer the kind of negative impacts normal bakemono. There are some advantages to being born a Creature of Darkness.

Presumably Molly has just MiSed away the consequences for those who want too far into cybernetic augmentation.

Given that cyberpunk 2077/shadowrun style cyber-psychosis or implant rejection unless immunosuppressants are taken seem a likely form taints would manifest in, we may have made quite a few people's lives much more pleasant.

Along with making much more extreme forms of transhuman enhancement possible.

That's fair, but he seems to lack even basic tools for observing any of this without going for the sight.

I wasn't expecting him to understand it all off the bat, but not being able to present real evidence sort of kills our ability to convince him of things. At this stage it might be a better sue of our time to put a pin in this until we can physically bring Bob here to help.

Yes as long as they worship her (most do) though it would be quite hard to notice since the number of people willing to take chronic pain, the occasional hallucination, partial paralyses, low level paranoia etc... just so they can get another implant is quite low.

Bakemono of the Fivefold Courts:
While cybernetic enhancements are ubiquitous in the Fivefold Courts, the more advanced examples still require the melding with a Machine Spirit to properly integrate in the denizen's body and to work optimally with the their brain.
This somewhat limits the amount of augments a single person can effectively use, as the connection and body-sharing puts a spiritual, mental and physical strain on the person containing multiple souls and minds.
A Bakemono can use the lesser of his (pre-augment) Stamina and Wits as Cybernetic versions of Fomori-Gifts safely, or the higher of them while accepting mental and physical drawbacks akin to those suffered by regular Formori.

That's fair, but he seems to lack even basic tools for observing any of this without going for the sight.

He lacks even basic tools to deal with what is basically a trip to Pluto, or not even that at least Pluto is a planet, a trip to the nearest neutron star to see the way space warps. Though even that is not entirely true, he could at any point turn on the sight but he is understandably leery of firing that up here, surrounded by all the hell-magic.

To Harry magic is life and life is magic, well the life around here is metaphorically made of Arsenic and hard rads, it is still clearly life, but alien and poisonous.

Not wanting to argue too much, but given how much people like athletes or dedicated artists and professionals are willing to sacrifice for their sport/art/practice I can see quite a lot of people who are at or wanting to get to the top of their fields being willing to suffer to get that little bit of extra edge over their competitors.

Given this is a networked society, the same disproportionate reward to superstars as happens on Earth should be the case here, so the 'There's no such thing as second place, either you're first or you're nothing.' motivations should apply.

Particularly as unlike on Earth, if you're a bakemono you can just chose to reincarnate after you retire or want to change career.

Oh sure, I meant relative to the several hundred million gurvel.

Another angle occurs to me here, given what it is the courts* should probably show up in a soul gaze. Harry already used his for Molly, but if we get another wizard he trusts involved we could prove our point that way.

* The most overload term in DF, so naturally we're probably going to get stuck with it since it's actually in the name. What color do you think the council will assign us? :V

I get that, but it's still annoying that he has no way to begin telling a neutron star and Pluto apart even if he can't identify the properties of the former in detail.

Well the colour that is most associated with Molly's shintai is nuclear-hatefire-green, though the Jades might call copyright infringement. They might call copyright infringement on quite a few things come to think about it, especially if you start awakening the Po of mortals and teaching them Demon Arts. :V

The Brass Court would also work, it's not a Color but neither is Jade technically. The Grey court on account of all the cyborgs might also work?

We run a hell now, I'm pretty sure that comes with a population of excellent lawyers by default.

We're clearly the Octarine Court.

Kind of an obscure reference for people outside of the anglosphere. Wizards are weirdly compulsive about their nicknames, so we'll probably get something they'll use whenever they aren't directly speaking to us.

Hopefully it isn't just "the green court", though that does sound like them.

The serious guess is Brass, probably.
That'd be kind of fun, but I suspect they stick people they don't like with dull names out of petty spite. So my bet would be we only get something close to this if they like us.
Soulgazing Molly at this stage of her development is probably liable to cause SAN damage.
Harry had to roll against SAN damage soulgazing her the same day she exalted. Getting a soul world probably didn't help, but it's hard to tell if it made it so much worse that nobody can safely do it anymore.

Edit:

Incidentally, I'm almost looking forward to the first time someone uses the sight on us. It's an obviously stupid idea, but Harry has done stuff like look at the queens of faerie, a Naagoloshi, and an Angel's weapon with the sight before so wizards clearly don't always exercise good judgment.

Considering that the ones with color based names are vampires, why would they use a color based name for Molly's group?
I was mostly joking, but I do think they're going to abbreviate the name. Since we actually have court in the name of our hell, everyone in it feels a lot like predators from the nasty side of the street, and humans like patterns, I give it decent odds we get something like that.

It doesn't help that our first major diplomatic contact was the white court either, though it matters less.
