Going Full Hollow (Bleach)

I am calling the vote in a few hours. Cast your final votes now, and cast them well, because the choices you make have lasting consequences.

A few observations:

Tatsuki's in the room, so you can't Gatsuga everything, and whathisface might try using her as a shield if you go that route.

Also, if someone comes to investigate and you bean them by accident, things could get... awkward.

Thirdly, he might be bluffing in hopes you'll take the first swing, whereupon he can claim self defense. Not hugely likely given where this is happening, but just tossing it out there.

Guy goes invisible. Players vote to use a skill they're bad at to try to find him, not considering that it probably wouldn't work even if they were good at it, because of perceived shiny.

Why did you guys think that we would be good at sensing reiatsu, if ichigo himself is incredibly bad at sensing it ?...this is getting incredibly annoying...

I don't even know what to say, but I am both amused and resigned.

I warned you.

I'm beginning to think TPK's quests have some curse on them that makes the voters do dumb things for no reason except for the lolz or shiny and sometimes (like this case) for absolutely no reason.

They wouldn't let something like already being dead keep them from killing themself. True dedication.

Everyone knows you're a traitor? You've set Soul Society on high alert? You're unarmed and your backup either wants to stab you in the back at the first possible opportunity or is otherwise of highly questionable worth?

Time to make a Kenpachi sandwich!

(Though from what I can recall, the main guy pushing for it knew exactly what would happen and couldn't stop laughing afterwards)

I knew I should have pushed harder, but I wasn't really sure what the best path was. I did think sensing reiatsu was the worst option though.

Maybe someday people will learn this character is best suited at acting or reacting, and not passive actions that hope for the best. But somehow I doubt that.

If you can't see him, and you can't rely on your other senses . . .

This is going to be risky.

It's a race against the clock. How quickly can Lloyd move while invisible isn't the sole factor in how long you have, though. You also have to figure that he might want to draw the moment out, to revel in his power over you and Tatsuki. If you're lucky he'll savor the anticipation.

You really hope you're lucky.

"Keep your armor up." You tell Tatsuki as you pull your mask onto your face. Your senses sharpen in the now-familiar way as you do so, and your power grows immensely. "I'm going to sense his spiritual pressure."

"Are you good at that?" She asks. You've never even mentioned the idea to her before, so it's a fair question.

You close your eyes and focus inward. "The hell if I know. I've never tried before."

Tatsuki's swears are both inventive and powerful, and you can't stop your lips from curling up one one side as you slide down layers of awareness. Your senses stop being relevant one by one, first sight, then sound, touch, smell, and taste all in their turn. It could take you seconds or minutes -you don't know.

Ichigo used this technique twice. Rukia explained it as sensing the spiritual pressure everyone exerts on their surroundings. As power is put out by a sentient being's soul, it's displaced by more power coming out. Spiritually aware beings can subconsciously recognize the amount, direction, and feel of this displaced power. Recognition of power is easiest, but also the hardest for you to do because you have so damn much of it yourself. You've got to be close to consciously sense it. But direction and feel are different.

You can do this.

The energy of Hueco Mundo feels differently than Karakura Town's did in Ichigo's memories. For lack of a better word it's . . . hungrier. There are seven pressures that you make out instantly, strong and fierce signatures with powerful red tones. The others are lesser than your own, and you have to work and waste precious unknown amounts of time to make them resolve.

The increased power your mask brings, for once, does not help. Your control over your power is still shoddy, and this is delicate work.

Your eyes open and you see hundreds of ribbons floating around you. Most are white, but a few dozen of them are the red that shinigami's ribbons are. Several of the red ones seem to be close, but very few of the white ones do. One's Tatsuki's, and it doesn't look very healthy. It's twisting in on itself and fraying at the edges, doubtless because of that bite she took out of a hollow when Uryuu popped hollow bait in the middle of the fucking city.

She'll need to see somebody who knows more about souls than you before going to Soul Society.

The ribbons are moving. You can track them now, and you glance over them all, locating the closest white ribbon that isn't Tatsuki's in moments.

. . . The ribbon leads behind you.

The hollow is behind you where Tatsuki is and you turn around but you don't want to. You don't want to turn around but you do anyway.

Tatsuki isn't there, but you can see both ribbons leading to the same space.

"Oh?" Lloyd asks mockingly. "Can you see me?"

"Where is she?"

"Right here! Would you like to see?" Once again the outline flickers and color fades in. The Octava stands not four feet from you, close enough to touch, with his forearm jammed across the smaller girl's mouth like a gag. The other hand has her around the waist, pinning both of her arms to her side and holding her off the ground all at once. Her teeth don't even put dimples in his skin, and he bears the kicks too without flinching.

"Let her go." You whisper. "Let her go and I'll kill you quick."

Lloyd looks you in the eyes. They're the only part of your face he can see behind the red-slashed mask you wear. His shit-eating grin widens further when he sees the raw hate in them. There is no mercy in his. He leans in and takes a deep breath at Tatsuki's neck. "I wanted to eat her before you noticed me, and then take you the same way. It would have been . . . exquisite, the perfect hunt."

Tatsuki's eyes are panicked, so wide that you can't see the color in them at all. She's never been this helpless before, never been overpowered by such a drastic margin. There's always been the slim hope that this blow could matter, even against a supernatural enemy, but this hollow, this arrancar, this Espada, this- this monster savoring your friend like a fucking steak, knife and fork poised-

Lloyd opens his mouth and it opens wide. He has bony plates instead of teeth, a funny detail like the color of the car that hits you.

There's blood, and white hollow-stuff welling out of the wound but there's so much red.

You remember a river, a woman, and a hollow.

The hollow throws Tatsuki to the side and she rolls a few times before coming to a stop -chest laboring up and down as her armor, so easily snapped through, flows into the missing chunk. The blood doesn't spurt, which is good, right? You're sure that means she isn't going to bleed out in seconds, and she heals. You stabbed her in the stomach a little training one time. She'll heal.

She'll be okay.

For a second you see two hollows before you. One is monstrously large, dangling a lure from its head, and the other has a face stained the same red as his hair. They step towards you with a sword outstretched to stab, but you move aside and bury Zangetsu so far into their face that it comes out the other side of their head.

"You shouldn't have done that."

Your friend is HURT. You need to HELP HER. Get her to . . .
[] Urahara -he knows all about souls.
[] Uryuu's dad -he's a trauma surgeon.
[] An arrancar -there has to be a healer.
[] An empty room -she's healing.

You have Redon to thank for convincing me that Spirit Ribbons would work on a stealth specialist.
