[X] Demand to see whoever's making the decision so you can argue your own case.
- [X] They can't really hold us. We've been playing nice.
You stand there for a moment, and you can hear Verosssa breathe out softly. You quickly spin to face him, a wide smile on your face. "Hey, Verossa? Take me to whoever's trying to make the decision, okay? I want to talk to them." He looks apprehensive, so you clasp your hands in front of your chest and pout. "Please~? I'll be good!"
"Will you promise that you won't attack anyone?" You scoff.
"Of course not! I don't plan on doing any fighting, but I'm not going to make a promise like that," you say proudly. "The only thing I plan on doing is talking." He stares at you for a long moment, then sighs and closes his eyes. You wonder why Patchouli doesn't do things like that; it seems like the sort of thing she'd go for. You find a clear spot on the wall and lean back, eyes bright, and soon enough Verossa's eye's open.
"Alright, Miss Scarlet, I have permission to take you to the council. Please don't make this any more difficult, however." You grin and take a step forward, then look down. You're still wearing that silly white outfit, and that will hardly do! You pull the shirt off - rip it off, rather, since you aren't taking care to fit it around your wings - and reach for one of your red dresses. Verossa makes an odd sound and spins away from you as you gently put the dress on. You take off the pants, then consider whether to save the outfit - but with a ruined top it wouldn't serve much use. You toss them onto the bed, then tear off the strange bracelets. A shame there's no mirror here ... you shrug and pirouette, making sure the dress fits properly. You rather wish you had some shoes, but you don't think going barefoot will spoil the effect too much.
"Alright, Verossa, I'm ready to go," you say, and he turns around. He doesn't seem particularly happy about what you've done, but doesn't say anything as he opens the door and walks out into the hallway. You follow him and nearly hit him in the back with one of your wings when he stops in the middle of the hallway. He glances at you, then holds himself straight, and a green triangle appears on the floor below you. You stare at it, trying to imprint its design and markings into your memory - then there's a flash of light and you're standing somewhere completely different ... and the air smells much fresher. He sets off at a reasonable pace, and you keep up with him, as do the four guards you've somehow acquired. You wonder if they're trying to impress you or make themselves feel better.
It's not long before you reach your destination. Verossa takes a deep breath before opening the door and stepping through. You follow him and find yourself in a large meeting room of some kind - one whole wall is nothing but windows, and between that and the skylights in the ceiling there's enough sun in the room to make you uncomfortable. You briefly consider taking out your parasol, but decide that if you're in here long enough for that to be necessary then the situation is probably unsalvageable. You look down the long, L-shaped table - you recognize some people, like Carim and Gaiz, and Harlaown and the brown-haired woman who was in charge at Vita's place, but most of them are unfamiliar to you, just faces in different uniforms. As you walk toward the center of the hypotenuse, Gaiz snorts.
"Huh. Walking about as though you were free ... and I thought you didn't want to make a statement!" You sweep your gaze across the table imperiously, then set your eyes on the man. To his credit, he holds your gaze.
"I'm not planning on making a statement; I'm simply wondering what's taking you all so long." You see frowns on nearly everyone's faces now.
"... If you don't mind my saying so, it's only been two days. Someone your age should be able to be a bit more patient." Your eyes snap to the blue-uniformed woman. So do most others', though many refocus on you when she doesn't continue.
"Of course I can be patient," you say. "I can be very, very patient - but as you said, it's been two days. Two days in which no decision has been made, which means that either any actual decision is going to take a very long time to come about, or someone has all the aces and is simply trying to get the other side to give in to as many demands as he can get in order to let them get what they want. So I'm here to get the issue resolved, because I'm bored. If it doesn't get resolved, I'll leave - you can't hold me." Some faces grow thoughtful, some get dark.
"Was that a threat?" You gaze amusedly at Gaiz for a moment before answering.
"Of course it wasn't; it was a statement of fact. It's true that you can't hold me if I want to go free, just as it's true that I haven't tried to kill anyone here. A threat would be ...." You tap your lips thoughtfully, then grin. "Oh, something like, 'Let me use the Church as my own personal castle or I'll kill everyone here,' or, 'Sooner or later, my sister is going to come to get me, and if you've treated me poorly she'll make you suffer for decades before she lets you die.' Those are threats; that I can break out of any prison you try to put me in is a fact." You glance along the table one more time, prepared to leave, when the Church's leader lets out a small laugh. You tilt your head as you gaze curiously at her.
"You know, Miss Scarlet, you're a very complicated individual," she says, smiling gently. You shake your head.
"No, I'm very simple. There are things I want, and things I don't want. I'm usually pretty direct about what they are, too." You sweep your gaze down the table one more time, then nod. "Well, make sure to hurry up about that decision, will you? I'll be waiting in the hall." You wink at Gaiz, then turn and walk out of the room, closing the door behind you. You walk down the hall a bit, then sit back against the wall to wait.
....
Almost half an hour later, Verossa steps out and walks over to you. "Well, Miss Scarlet, a ... an agreement has been reached. You would be attached to one of the Capital Defense Corps units, part of the Ground Forces, and would be required to obey their orders. Your movements will be watched; you would need to have a tracking device with you at all times. Your actions and activities would be restricted. You would be required to undergo medical testing ...." He trails off.
"Is that it?"
"Broadly, yes." He sighs. "A lot of it is folded under the 'required to obey orders' clause. Whether or not you're allowed to do any particular thing would likely rely on whether you can convince your commander. It's not a particularly fair deal, but it's the one you have."
