[X] Accept their claim on the area … if they can go to the bottom of the lake and bring proof.
- [X] A fish this big.

You take a deep breath. They're just fairies … they're just fairies …. Wrong train of thought - what would Remilia do?

"Remilia wouldn't have been hit in the first place, though." You send the equivalent of a strained smile at Headless and she quiets. It's not that she's wrong, it's that your own question isn't helpful and she's just highlighting another of your mistakes. What Remilia would do depends on what she wants to happen in the long run, and you … just want to calm down a little. But the only things that have deigned to bother you are fairies. The leader laughs again, and some of her subordinates laugh with her.

"… Well, you're the strongest, are you? I guess I'll have to accept your claim on this territory - if you can prove it, of course." The fairies clap their hands excitedly as the ice fairy leaps into the air, danmaku appearing around her.

"Haha! I can prove it right now, if you're not afraid to face me!" It's your turn to laugh - a low, mocking, noblewoman's laugh - and you smile maliciously. The three fairies who seemed to recognize you seem bewildered, but they're still obviously afraid.

"Oh, you don't seem to get it. After all, the point of danmaku is that it's not a contest of who's strongest. No, you have to prove your claim another way - but if you're the strongest, it shouldn't be any trouble for you." She glares at you, drunk on alcohol and high on power, and her danmaku holds position alongside her.

"What do you want, then?" She crosses her arms and you half-turn to gesture meaningfully at the lake behind you.

"A kingdom on the lakeshore obviously has access to the lake. If your claim is true, you can go to the bottom of the lake and bring back a fish."

"Ha! That's easy!"

"Wait!" You and the ice fairy both snap around to stare at the now-terrified fairy that spoke - one of the three who seemed to recognize you. The other two back away from her, leaving her holding her mouth and rapidly paling.

"What is it, Luna?" The new fairy swallows nervously and flies a little closer.

"Um, is it okay if we get some, um, specifics? About the fish Cirno is supposed to catch?" The ice fairy huffs and drifts back, her danmaku finally vanishing as the idea of a fight fades from what passes for her brain. You shrug and the new fairy nods. "Okay, so … um, how big should the fish be?" You stare sharply at her and the other two intelligent ones hurry over to support her. You drag your toe through the dirt, making a line, and walk forward, making another line five meters away. That's positively massive for a freshwater fish, especially in such a small lake - if she did manage to find one, it would almost certainly belong to someone. The ice fairy studies the distance and walks back and forth between the lines. "And where is that measured from?" You give the fairy another piercing look and she backs away, shivering.

"What Luna means is …." Another of the clever fairies, she waits for you to look at her before politely curtsying - at least, as politely as her minor trembling allows. She picks up a small stick and makes a simple image of a fish. "Is the length measured from the mouth to the tips of the tail or the fork?" She blanches as well as you intensify your stare. These fairies, at least, are not drunk.

"Argh, hurry up! Stop asking so many questions!" You barely give the impatient ice fairy a thought and she starts to sulk, hugging her knees. Several of the other fairies gather around her to console her while most simply scatter away from you, some laughing at something but others matching the clever fairies' reluctance..

"The fork." To make the fish as large and heavy as possible, because she still has to get it out … and fairies are not known for physical strength.

"And how long does she have?" You shrug again.

"One hour." You did tell Meiling you didn't plan on being gone for more than an hour or two, after all. The third of the clever fairies, the one that hasn't spoken, looks up at the sun for a moment, tilts her head, then, after a suspicious glance at you, nods her head. You aren't sure whether to be impressed that these three, at least, are thinking rather cleverly, or to be dreadfully insulted by the implication that you won't keep your word. As it stands, you settle for severe irritation and generally insulted.

"Can I go now?" The ice fairy is practically whining, but the polite fairy nods her head.

"Yes, Cirno, you can go and hunt the fish now." The ice fairy cheers and rushes toward the lake - and the fairies that had stayed by her side imitate her, giving a ragged group cheer and hurtling into the water after their leader. You stare at the lake, wondering if you should disqualify them immediately - you had spoken only to the leader and these clever fairies, and they spoke as if the ice fairy would be doing it alone, but you had originally intended them to be allowed to work together. As much as fairies can, anyway. You walk over to the rocks the fairies had emerged from, wondering just how they all managed to hide from you behind them, but even after getting away from the area where the remains of the food you can't escape the smell … and then you realize that some of the food must still be on your parasol. How disgusting.

Old Acquaintance's Visit
And possibly cry, for granting some form of political recognition to fairies of all things.

They will forgot about it in a day. Cirno was once recognized as a leader of Fairies - for a whole day, until she became bored and forgot about it. Of course if Flandre would state that she acknowledge Fairy Kingdom as a political unit within Gensokyo, she WILL be looked on strangely but most people think Flandre is insane anyway, so they will think its just another of her eccentric whims - which is true. I don't think anyone will be foolish enough to laugh at Flandre, not in her face - unless they are Marisa and want to fight. On the other hand, probably only Illya will take the "Kingdom" seriously, and that's because Illyasviel doesn't know the Fairies very well so far.

Anyway, Omake time! Flandre brought several insane souls, Grief Seeds, from her visits to PMMM dimension. But the plot in that world moved on without her, and Flandre got unexpected visit one evening ...

Old Acquaintance's Visit

It was just another late afternoon at the Misty Lake.

Fairies were flying around like always, searching something to pass their time and fight their boredom.

A forest Youkai (some random Tanuki girl) emerged from the shadows of the trees to quench her thirst. She made sure to avoid the Fairies, not really interested in a pointless brawl.

And Meiling was "guarding" the mansion's gate again. It was so lazy day, she let her boredom and the rays of sun lure her into catnap. That didn't mean, she was slacking - when a Fairy came too close to the gate, the warrior reflexively blasted her with Danmaku bullets. Like cats, Meiling's senses were alert even if the dragon was napping.

So she woke instantly, alert and ready, when a stranger lightly and elegantly landed several feats from the gate on the gravel path that connected the Mansion with the seldom used trail between the Village and the Hakurei Shrine.

The stranger was covered in white cloak with red trims and white hood but in front of the guard, a slender hand in white glove brushed the hood back, revealing the stranger's face to her. The stranger was a female of indefinite age, physically between early twentieth and later teens. The woman had unusual hair - pink and long bound with pair of white ribbons into twin ponytails above the woman's temples. Pair of gold eyes studied the guard curiously and the woman smiled at Meiling in friendly, yet confident manner.

"Greetings, guardian of the House Scarlet. Can you please alert your mistress that an acquaintance of lady Flandre need to speak with her sister about an important matter?" she inquired politely.

Regarding the woman for a moment, Meiling tugged on ribbon, she seldom used. A melodious sound of a bell disrupted the evening's tranquillity.

Soon, a young woman with silvery grey hair and in maid's uniform came out from the main building and joined Meiling.

The visitor politely and patiently repeated her request, addressing the maid this time. She didn't made any move and was content to just wait for her reaction.

Slightly perplexed, Sakuya Izayoi, the Perfect Maid bowed to the lady in front of her "If you can wait for a moment, I will ask if lady Remilia is free to meet you. Whom should I announce?

"Where are my manners? You can announce me as Kaname-san," the woman politely curtsied and added, "I am in no hurry for the moment. The situation I need to discus is serious but not time sensitive." The woman nodded to Sakuya, watching the maid leave.

"How is your work going, Miss Meiling?" the woman politely asked, switching to canton Chinese easily. "I heard you are also gardener. What plants do you grow here? My dad loved to grow small fruit tomatoes. I loved them for breakfast. One of my friends loves roses so much, she would grow them everywhere and every when she could, and she is very good with them."

Soon Meiling was chatting with the visitor to pass time.

After approximately thirty minutes Sakuya returned.

"Please, follow me, milady," she beckoned the visitor in. "Ladies Scarlets and their guests just sit down to dinner on the east terrace. Lady Remilia sends her greetings and invites you to join them."

"We need to speak later. I would love to see the gardens, Meiling," the woman nodded to the gatekeeper.

"It would be an honour, Kaname-san," Meiling bowed to the visitor and stepped aside to let her in.

Kaname followed Sakuya, placing her hood back while they walked. Sakuya glanced at her when she did but didn't comment.

They walked through the garden and soon reached the terrace with several tables under parasols that protect them against sun and rain.

"Welcome to the Scarlet's Manor," the blue haired vampire stood up to welcome their visitor. "It's rare to receive new guest to our home. Please, what brings you here?"

"You can say my duty and my wish," the female bowed to the group politely, brushing off her hood, showing her mischievous smile to them.

"Kaname Madoka?!" several voices greeted her, shocked, surprised.

"But Oriko killed you!?" a tall girl with light colored hair with what looked like a Fairy next to her gasped in shock. "I read the letter she send to us! Flandre still has it!"

"I know. It was shock for me too. They called me from my class and told me what was happening. We transformed and were on a way to the church when I was impaled from behind through my heart and soulgem. Kirika-chan timed the attack perfectly. I died before I knew what was going on. I learned what happened and why later, but let not spoil it. By the way, should you befriend them during your first visit, they will manipulate you to help them kill me as well. Oriko always saw Krimhield-chan as a treat to the world. Not that she was wrong but her wish sort of screwed with her mind, like Kirika-chan's did. Those two killed me many times over and Homura-chan retaliated for it as often. She got into habit to kill them every time she learned they contracted after several loops," Madoka smiled wryly suddenly "Don't worry, I got better every time Homura-chan went back. I recalled that she told you about the loops?"

When Flandre, Lulu and Agito nodded back in daze, Madoka chuckled mirthlessly. "I was an idiot savant I think. So many worthless wishes. Hello, Flandre, Agito-chan, Lutecia-san. I am happy to meet you again. Life treats you well, I hope?"

"We are mostly done with our sentence," Lutecia sighed. "We were left out earlier so we could visit Flandre's home. I still think about what would happened if we took the offer."

"And do you regret it? To bypass the offer and to follow Homura-chan's advise?"

"Not really. It turned out alright. I met my mother and she is mostly alright," Lutecia smiled. "And I think, we will have more time this way to be together."

"Good to hear it."

"What brings you here, Kaname-san? Are you just visiting?" Remilia returned to the business.

"Like I said, I have a duty to fulfil," Madoka sighed. "First, may I join you? I think, it would be polite to explain what happened after Flandre left, at least shortly. It's still somewhat long explanation."

"Please, take seat, Kaname-sama," Remilia gestured to a place next to an albino girl Madoka didn't know yet. Flandre, eager and bubbly like Madoka knew her to be remedied that quickly.

"It's good to see you again, Madoka-chan," She grabbed the visitor's hands and squeezed them smiling at her old acquaintance. "You know Lulu and Agito already but this is my second friend Illya. Illya, meet Kaname Madoka, a magical girl."

"Illyasviel von Einzbern, but call me Illya," the albino girl which once lost some limbs Madoka noticed bowed to the new girl. "Magical girl? For real?"

"Oh, I so outgrew that title," Madoka smiled, squeezing Flandre's fingers in return. "Nice to meet you, Illya-chan. Where to begin?" Madoka's smiled turned sourer. "I think, I can just skip the next sixty or so loops. Not much changed. Homura entered my life, tried to stop me from contracting, mostly failed for one reason or other, tried to fight the Walpurgisnacht witch, failed again, I died. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Like I said, I was dumb and took my time to do it right. The Wish, I mean. In the last alteration, I outlived all my friends sans Homura, and she was hardly a friend to me then. When Homura fought and lost her battle again, I think, I got it right. I wished to erase all witches, anywhere, anytime in any dimension and timeline with my own hands. ALL OF THEM. I am almost done with it too."

"Clever," Remilia smirked. "So when will you erase yourself?"

"Already did," Madoka ignored the gasps from her one time friends and even Illya. "In a time that is not, I blew my Witch into nothings, the universe as well. Krimhield destroyed it anyway. Doing so, I absorbed her and we became one. So I am the Madoka you knew but also every other Madoka and Krimhield, every other witch I absorbed and cleansed so far. My full name is Kaname Gretchen Madoka, the repentant sinner and hope of the universe. I absorbed and erased all my versions too, so a paradox will not tear the universes apart. There is no other Madoka left. Not a real one, that's it. Which brings me here. I can go everywhere my duty calls me to. Flandre-san, you collected several Soul Gems and Grief Seeds. I let you hold on the Gems, but my wish demands that the Seeds are purged and he souls united with their others. I especially want Nagisa-chan whole but all of them deserve, need, what you took. I will compensate you, of course. First, you still owes me a duel after the rampage that made me exile you from the first world. And I know you want to fight me. Don't worry, Lutecia-san, Remilia-sama. I learned Danmaku long time ago, in another Gensokyo. One of Yukari-sama's alternates was kind enough to tutor me in my powers because when I started I really didn't knew what I was doing and I messed up big time. She and her Reimu taught me how to convert my attacks into Danmaku as a bonus. So you can beat me how you like without things going messy. Secondly - like I said, I am almost done. There is only one witch left but that will be tricky. Homura's loneliness made her little reckless and Incubators trapped Homura-chan inside her own soul. I could take you and anyone who wants too with me and my two best agents to see what Labyrinth look like. It should be safe, Homura's Witch isn't THAT violent and I doubt she will attack Flandre anyway."

"You could bypass all of us and take the Seeds already," Remilia squinted at the woman in front of them. "Why bother asking?"

"You are good," Madoka smiled beautifully. "I am being polite, I think. And I know, you and your mage would want to see me working. I know Flandre well enough and know you will not misuse what you learn. You are not Incubators."

"I hope not!" Remilia shook her head. "We are monsters but we have our souls still."

"True. So please, Flandre. Will you give me the Seeds for a duel and a one more adventure?"

THE END?

I think, this is what should happen. No way will Madokami let the Grief Seeds alone if she could help it. And Remilia is right. Her wish will let her claim them anyway.

Also, I've somehow managed to get myself swallowed whole by a thirty-foot 'stealth' fish. If I don't make it out, my bones will make their way to a computer and continue the quest, then search for the means by which the fish gained entrance to my lair. Some vengeance may occur.

Misty Lake III

You take a deep breath and close your eyes. One thing after the other today, isn't it? You turn around and walk right back to the lake. You don't trust the fairies to not do something to break it, so you'll have to clean it yourself. You wave for the three clever fairies to join you at the water's edge and they hesitantly join you. Do you have anything you can use to wipe the parasol clean …? You scowl and push the top of the parasol into the water, then gesture for the third one, the one that hasn't said anything yet, to come closer.

"Oh, I have -" The polite fairy begins patting her dress, but by the time she pulls out a small handkerchief you already have a firm grip on the other fairy's dress. She doesn't look too happy about your using her clothes as a cleaning aid, but that's fine because you're not too happy about having to clean your parasol to begin with. Fortunately, it's not going to get stained, and most of what was left on was slime from one substance or another and came off with the dip in the lake. "Um, we are really sorry about that. Right, Luna, Sunny?" The first fairy, still nervous, nods her head quickly.

"Yes, we're very sorry." You glance at the quiet fairy when you finish wiping the parasol clean and let go of her dress. She darts back behind her fellows and starts inspecting it as you look over your parasol.

"… So what's been going on recently?" You can feel the silence as the fairies try to figure out what you're asking, and you sigh and drift back so you're not in the water anymore. "Everyone knows that the tengu are the best source of information, because they follow the wind and move so quickly. What most people don't know is that fairies are the second-best source, because they're everywhere and no one pays attention to them. So - what's been going on recently?" A faintly-remembered bit of information from your sister, tempered by the fact that fairies are idiots … but these three seem to be somewhat intelligent, so maybe they can remember something useful.

"U-um, well, we helped the reporter prank shrine maiden. And we pranked Marisa at the shrine! And we met that one snake …. And … and …." She starts getting even more excited as you stare at her.

"Calm down, Luna. I think she means -"

"Ah! I'llberightback!" She tears herself away from the other fairies and zooms away as fast as her fairy magic will take her. You stare at her retreating form as it arcs over the trees, wondering if it's worth the effort to chase her down, then shift your focus to the other two. They sit frozen for a moment, staring at their retreating partner.

"I wouldn't suggest trying that." The polite one nods and tries to smile, but the quiet one just spreads her dress before sighing and settling on the ground.

"O-oh, we won't run, don't worry! Luna's just …." You make a circular motion with your hand, motioning for her to start saying something interesting. "R-right. Umm … well, there's someone who's started coming around the shrine recently that we haven't met before. Um, there was that giant a while back, right Sunny?"

"Yeah, but we'd have to ask Cirno about that. She was the one who saw it, after all." She shrugs. "The two tengu were having that competition, too." The polite fairy gives you what is probably supposed to be an apologetic look, but she still looks afraid.

"I'm sorry. It's a little difficult coming up with things like this. Do you mind if we go over to those rocks and talk a little, first?" You make a shooing gesture and she makes a nervous curtsy. "Thank you! We won't be long." She practically drags the other fairy along with her, then summons some of the normal fairies that are still in the area. As the minutes creep by you start to grow very impatient, but as they finally start to break up the third fairy comes flying back. Her speed is quite impressive for a fairy, and she tumbles and rolls almost to your feet when she botches the landing. Her partners run over to help her as you take the proffered newspaper and leave her gasping on the ground.

It's not one of Aya's papers, but it is a tengu newspaper. You flip it closed to check the date and title - a February issue of the 'Kakashi Spirit News' - and go back to the article the exhausted fairy had selected. It's a matchmaking article, and the author is clear that her selections are not intended to be taken as truth, so your initial reaction is to roll your eyes at the fairy's thought that this would be interesting. Then you read the part where it thinks that Patchouli and Marisa are probably a couple because of how much time they spend together, and how Marisa must have been taught at least one Spell Card by Patchouli. It also links Patchouli with Koakuma, and that almost makes you laugh out loud. About how Sakuya and Meiling must be together because Sakuya has been seen taking food out to Meiling. About how you and Remilia must be in relationships with the 'Komeiji' sisters because of your similar standings and circumstances, backed by the elder sister's clandestine visits to the mansion. You look ahead at some of the names you know - Reimu is suspected of a relationship with Remilia, Marisa, another shrine maiden, and an oni. You read through it once, then close the paper and shake your head. Parts of it are certainly researched, but others seem intended to simply generate attention, and you have to wonder what the author was thinking with some of the people on the list. And you really don't think she got Remilia's permission to include her or you in an article. Should you ask her how that turned out? It would probably be better to pretend you haven't heard of it, but maybe you can meet this other tengu sometime and ask her why she's making things up. You hand the paper back to the polite fairy, as the one who brought it is still on the ground, barely conscious and breathing much too quickly, but before you can say anything you hear some fairies leaving the water behind you.

You turn around to see that some of the fairies are flying on their own power, and some seem to have been thrown out of the water. A huge shadow hurtles toward the shore as well and you drop your parasol to shield you from the wave. You are only partly successful as water fountains above you, but the main wave is mostly blocked and you raise your parasol. Your initial thought is that the fish is much too big, far longer than five meters. Only after watching the scene for a moment do you realize that the ice fairy appears to be trying to escape the fish's mouth. How did you even think it could be anything else? It certainly is an odd fish, but it doesn't seem to have anything showing it to be someone's pet.

What do you do?

[ ] Watch the fish but don't attack it.
- [ ] Unless it tries to attack you.
- [ ] Unless it successfully attacks you.
- [ ] At all.

[ ] Fight the fish.
- [ ] Catch and release is polite, right?
- [ ] Kill it and let the fairies deal with it.
- [ ] Kill it and take it home for the party.
- [ ] Make a bloody mess.

[ ] Other?

DM Note: Providing there is time left after the fish is no longer an issue, Flandre will default to letting them continue trying until time is up.

[X] Watch the fish but don't attack it.
-[X] Unless it tries to attack you.
[X] Ask the ice fairy if this means the FISH is the lord of fairy kingdom now since it had caught itself the fairy ruler.

Wait. Is that....

CAAAAATFIIIIISH!!!

Clearly we must acquire it.
As a pet.
Or maybe a vassal.
