For context, our friend is delicate, we should make sure she's okay from the professional. Just brushing it off could be really detrimental.

[X] Wait for Patchouli to finish with Marisa and see if she can tell what's wrong.

"What happens following the completion of a duel?" You glance at Sella and shrug.

"Depends on any particular agreements made. About the only strict rules are that youkai can't kill humans they've defeated and that you're supposed to not fight by other means even if you still can fight after losing a duel." Marisa's head pops out of the small mountain of mud, and after a few moments she drags her battered hat out and begins waving it as Patchouli starts talking. You sneak another glance at Ilya – she still looks kind of sick, and her face has a tense feeling about it, like she's locking her expression into one of neutrality.

"Lady Illyasviel, are you alright?" She closes her eyes and inhales.

"I'm fine, Sella." Yep, not a warning sign at all. She opens her eyes and looks at you. "Are we waiting for something?" You nod and point at the magicians.

"Don't want Marisa spreading rumors about you before the party, so we're waiting for her to leave so we can go talk to Patchouli." Ilya stares at you for a moment before slumping against you unhappily.

"I'm fine, Flan. I'm just …." She trails off and you sigh.

"If you're fine, then Patchouli will agree and scold me for bothering her with nothing." She starts to give you a look but you fix her with a hard stare. "You were hurt recently, I have no idea if you're having a reaction to being near that weird double Master Spark, and Patchouli already got angry at me for just running around with you. I want to be certain that you're fine before we keep going." You squeeze her gently as she looks away from you and she gives a small nod. Sella, at least, seems relieved, but Leysritt is as impossible to read as ever.

Marisa finally finishes scrambling out of the mud, dragging her broomstick out last and hopping onto it – only to fall back into the mud. She scrambles to her feet and stares at her broom before whirling back to Patchouli. You raise your eyebrows and lean forward interestedly; Marisa actually angry about something is new, but all you can get from her outraged yells is that she wasn't expecting it. After Patchouli's reply she smacks her broom against the floor and takes off for the exit, running quite quickly for a magician. Once she's out of sight and Patchouli starts clearing the mess you descend with your clones. She looks over as the wheelchairs clatter to the ground and you set Ilya in hers.

"Um, Patchouli? Could you look over Ilya and make sure she's okay?" She blinks slowly and focuses her gaze on you.

"Is there a reason to suspect that she wouldn't be?" You glare at her, wondering why she can't just be helpful for once … but you did go against her directions.

"We were upstairs finishing breakfast when Marisa came by, and I wanted to show her a danmaku battle so she'll know what to expect. I … had to move pretty quickly, and then we were up there," you point at one of the blasted bookshelves, "when Marisa did her last Spell Card, so we had to get away in a hurry." Patchouli gives you one of her special looks and walks over to Ilya. Her skinny fingers, relatively long for her size, cup the side of Ilya's face and then probe around her ruined arm. Ilya winces, and you and Sella have to abort movements to help her. Patchouli steps back and stares down at Ilya before sighing.

"I'm fairly sure I know what the problem is, but just to be sure – when does the party start?"

"Ah, two in the afternoon, ma'am." You look back to see Koakuma picking up books. She nods politely.

"As good a time as any. Until noon tomorrow, Flandre, you are not to see Illyasviel." Ilya makes a startled sound, little more than a squeak, but you glare at Patchouli and have to strangle a snarl. Of course, she stares back at you impassively. "It seems today is my day to teach people that ill-thought-out actions have consequences. Marisa thought she could leave a time-sensitive experiment to come get a book about that experiment, and if she hurries she will be able to salvage the most important ingredients to reuse them. You have – twice – subjected Illyasviel to unnecessary stress despite my instructions against it, and so you are forced to endure an extremely temporary separation." You glare at the floor, fists clenched and almost trembling in anger … but she isn't exactly wrong. That's probably a large part of why you're so angry.

"Miss Knowledge –"

"If the problem is what I suspect it is, separating them is not necessary – but Flandre has shown that she cannot be trusted to obey directions made for Illyasviel's safety. Combined with her rambunctious nature and penchant for acting without thinking in general, and I will not let her put Illyasviel in a situation in which an actual problem could occur and then expect me to offer any assistance." You stiffen, not at the insults but at the implication of an out. If you didn't need Patchouli's help, you could take her somewhere else to be looked at … but if you know the magician at all, she won't help at all if that happens. Remilia would almost certainly help you if she can, but it's probably not worth losing Patchouli's help. For all that she's a nasty, mean, selfish witch, she does put forth her best efforts. "For now, take her back to her bed. I will be along shortly to make a more thorough inspection." You look up and see Ilya in much the same position you are: head down, nodding glumly. After a hesitant, unhappy glance at you, Sella begins pushing Ilya back to the lab area. Patchouli waits for them to get far enough, but instead of berating you she simply sighs tiredly. She rubs her eyes with her fingers before shaking her head. "If you need something to occupy your time, why don't you sort the books Marisa knocked off?" She turns to follow Ilya's group, and Koakuma shakes her head rapidly. It is something you could do … and it would take a long time.

What do you do?

- [ ] Until nightfall.
- [ ] Until you can see Ilya again.

[ ] Go for a walk around the lake.

[ ] Go ask Sakuya what's going to happen for the party.

Sounds really pouty and doesn't provide character growth. We're supposed to be not being grumpy when things don't go our way and so forth. You know, growing up and being mature. Or something like that. Seems that people want that in this quest. So let's do something that might be semi-productive.

[x] Go for a walk around the lake

I think we just need to go for a walk. We need to calm down and no other way to do that other than a walk. However,

Misty Lake I
[X] Go for a walk around the lake

Koakuma follows after her irritating master and you head toward the books. You've sorted books before - had to sort books - and it's a nice mindless way to kill time. Some people sit under waterfalls and think about how they're not actually cold even as hypothermia sets in, you sort books. You nudge a few books to one side or another with your foot before sighing and shaking your head. Your heart isn't in it, and more to the point you don't want to. You rise into the air and head toward the stairs at a somewhat brisk pace, but not fast enough that you need to seriously worry about overtaking Marisa, at least not before she reaches the stairs. If whatever Patchouli did keeps affecting her once she's in the rest of the mansion … well, you'll deal with that if it happens.

You make it to the stairs without seeing her, and the hallway is devoid of movement as well. Sakuya or the maids will probably be here sooner or later to straighten up, but for now you're the only one around. You consider going to see Sakuya about the party; maybe there'll be particular areas that might be interesting to Ilya, or boring, and while you probably could just stay on one of the balconies and point out people to her - and considering how people react to you, it might even be a better option - she might want to mingle and see things personally. But Sakuya's pretty smart, and you want to make sure you can hold your temper if she says anything about what you did. Not that you're going to sneak out, of course. You drift out the front door and, parasol shading you from the morning sun, fly to the gate.

"Oh, Lady Flandre. Did Marisa forget something?" She grins and you wonder just how Marisa keeps getting in, especially since it doesn't look like there was a fight this time. Do they have some kind of deal going on, or is the witch just that sneaky? Something to ask later.

"No, I'm just going to go for a walk." Meiling's expression falls and she shifts her weight nervously. "I'm just going around the lake. I shouldn't be gone more than an hour or two." You can practically see her mind working, trying to figure out just how much trouble you can get into in an hour, even at the lake. Before she can get very far, however, she shakes her head and takes a breath.

"Alright. Have a good time." She smiles and bows and you fly past her. There isn't a path as such leading down to the lake, but a cleared area loops around the ridge in case anyone wants to walk to or from the mansion. You fly over the trees until you reach the ridge, then descend to the ground and walk to the lake itself. The lake's namesake fog hasn't risen yet, so it's not hard to see across it, but you merely lean down and put your fingers in the water. It tingles, barely noticeable but actually a little comfortable, but you know that it's the interplay of the lake's stillness and the running water of the river that feeds it. It's not a terribly large lake, after all. You look to your left and see a small pack of wolves drinking from the lake while a youkai watches you nervously. Beast youkai are supposed to be pretty stupid, but maybe it saw you come down the ridge. You turn and start your walk in the other direction. If someone starts something with you, that's one thing, but if you just go and pick a fight then people will notice. Well, they'll notice either way, but this is going to confuse them and make them think instead of making them worried and afraid, and there's a party tomorrow so you don't want them thinking you're going to attack them out of hand.

You see a few more youkai, and some see you as well. Two youkai working together, one with extremely long arms and the other with very long legs, are standing in the lake fishing. A tall woman with a large water bucket approaches the lake farther on. She watches you suspiciously as your paths grow closer, and she adjusts her sleeves to cover her arms and bows, letting you pass in front of her. You nod in response, wondering whether she recognized you or your power, or if she's just a polite youkai. It doesn't particularly matter … but you almost wish she had attacked you.

About a third of the way around the lake you stop and look back the way you came. The fishermen look like they're still there, but you don't see the tall woman who came later. A few more monstrous youkai make their ways to the lakeside, watching each other suspiciously. Shrugging, you turn around and keep walking. After a couple minutes, a small rain of objects hits your parasol and the ground around you, and you crinkle your nose in disgust. Eggs, milk, and a few other things you can't identify by their smell - but all rotten or otherwise spoiled. Someone laughs and you turn to see the blue ice fairy hop out from behind some rocks. A few other fairies come out with her, but three in particular don't share their leader's mirth; in fact, their eyes are doing quite good impressions of saucers right now. Runaways from the mansion, perhaps?

"Hahaha! Intruder, this is the Fairy Kingdom! Give us your respect and shiny things!" An odd thing to say, even for a fairy, but then you see the bottles around them. They're drunk … which probably explains why they're wasting food by throwing it at you, even if it is all spoiled and rotten. "Hey! I'm … the strongest!" Well, that's certainly a challenge.

What do you do?

[ ] Accept their claim on the area … if they can go to the bottom of the lake and bring proof.
- [ ] A fish this big.

[ ] Fairies are rarely worth the bother. Drunk fairies even less so. Ignore them and keep walking.

[ ] Spell Card Duel.
- [ ] You against the ice fairy.
- [ ] You against everyone that has a Spell Card.
- - [ ] At the same time.

[ ] They have attacked, insulted, and challenged you. Demonstrate to them why this is considered a bad idea.

Time to make fool out of Cirno, in the front of other Fairies no less.

All jokes aside, a spell card battle or just killing her would be to controversial. We need to go low profile for now, as we don't want to cause a massive chain reaction.
