[X] Support Ilya.
-[X] Go immediately.
You stare down at the table for a moment. If you agree, Tohsaka will go, which would leave the castle …. "Does Deis know about this?" Ilya nods.
"She said that if you agreed to come with me, then she'd like to stay and try to put up some defenses." You mull it over some more, but your mind is already made up.
"Do you need anything else before we go?" Both mages give you surprised looks.
"You want to go right now?"
"Right now, Rider's Master is probably disoriented and distracted. Either she's made her old home her lair, or she hasn't, but if she hasn't then the sooner we leave the less a chance we'll encounter her. And if she has, the only way we'd avoid her is if we distract her by holding her attention somewhere else." Ilya hesitates before nodding quickly.
"Yes … you're right. I don't really need anything, just my coat. Rin?" The younger mage shakes her head.
"No, I think I'll be fine. Will you be able to carry Archer as well?" The spirit materializes before you can reply shaking his head.
"If you maintain the same speed you did when you brought Rin here, I'll be able to keep pretty close. Besides, I don't like being carried." Tohsaka looks like she's about to argue with her Servant, so you cut her off.
"And if I carried him, he'd be carrying you." Ilya seems a little unhappy about something, but you simply flap your wings once, and tilt your head. "Then we're ready? I'll be waiting outside." You nod to them and walk away. Should you activate Loki? Your clothes aren't ready yet, and if all goes well you shouldn't need to fight. But if you do, then maybe it's better to have it ready before you go? You weigh your options as you head toward the entry, and finally decide to activate it - more because the familiar clothes are more comfortable than the dress.
"… Are you sure you want to do this right now, Flan?" You look back over your shoulder at Ilya and shrug. Your clones step out and one sweeps Tohsaka into its arms and takes off while the other two dart into the air to serve as outriders. You pick up Ilya and nod at Sella before joining them and flying toward the city.
The trip is quite dull, and you land on the outskirts of the city, south of Tohsaka's home, and start walking. Better to avoid irritating Arcueid if it's not necessary, and this way Archer will be able to catch up. Tohsaka's home hasn't changed at all since you last saw it, and the girl gives it the briefest of longing glances before steeling herself and focusing on the task at hand. And then you're at the shattered Matou residence, and you break the long-standing silence.
"So, where are we going and what are we looking for?" Ilya shakes her head and walks along the path.
"We'll want to go down to where they did their magecraft." You nod and wait for Tohsaka to follow Ilya before bringing up the rear. The younger mage is fidgeting, seemingly nervous about something and rubbing one of her gems with her thumb. The building feels empty, though; it seems that Rider's Master hasn't made her lair here, at least not yet. Disregarding the warning tape across the entryway and warding off the staircase to the basement, you look around idly as you make your way to the ruined floor. "Zouken! Come out!" You frown at Ilya, but a chuckle from the lowest level draws your attention.
"Well, well. This feels familiar." You drop down before anyone can say anything and scatter danmaku bullets to give some light. The old mage is standing on the rubble, and when he sees you he frowns grumpily. How frustrating … but then, he did seem particularly fragile the first time you met him. If his body is just a magical construct, that would explain both it and his apparent ability to withstand Laevateinn. "I'm afraid my old bones won't permit me to climb the walls." You look at him for a moment before flying back up to Ilya and Tohsaka. Ilya nods.
"Please, could you take us down there?" You put an arm around Ilya's waist and grab Tohsaka's free hand, then carefully lower the two of them to stable positions near the old worm-mage's location.
"Hmph. To what do I owe the dubious honor of this discussion?" He seems irritated.
"What did you do to Sakura?" Ilya sighs as Tohsaka steps forward angily. The old mage laughs.
"Oh, now the Tohsaka family cares about her. Why should I explain my family's secrets to you, hmm?" His tone is irritated, but the expression on his face proves he's just playing around. Tohsaka takes the bait, however, and steps forward to glare at him.
"Rin. Zouken, you know that's not what this is about. You turned her into another Lesser Grail, forged some kind of connection between her and the Grail itself, and now … whatever happened to it is affecting her. She needs to be stopped, the Shadow needs to be stopped. You wouldn't have made her into this if you weren't sure you could control her." Zouken's expression stays malignantly joyful as he turns his attention to Ilya. Tohsaka fumes silently. It's rather irritating that the ground is covered with debris; if he has his worms around, you won't know for sure until they swarm out of the cracks.
"Again, young Einzbern - why should I explain my methods to you?"
"If you don't, I'll have you thrown out of Fuyuki!" Matou cackles at Tohsaka's threat.
"Oh, my, I'm so frightened! Girl, you will probably be thrown out of Fuyuki after all this is over. Thanks to the actions of that," he gestures at you, "they're finally fed up with the Association's presence here. Even if the Grail system survives this war, it will be under their control. If you're going to make a threat, make sure you can back it up." Tohsaka stiffens and clenches her fists, but Ilya looks … almost gentle.
"Makiri, if that's the case, why not help us? The way this time is going, there won't be a victor, and if what you're saying is true, there probably won't be a next time. Have you really changed so much that you would doom these people simply out of spite?" The old mage glares at Ilya for a moment before lurching to the side.
"Don't talk like that to me, homunculus. I can still win this time." He turns his head to the right, further away from Ilya and Tohsaka, and looks up. "… If you must know, however, I collected the fragments of the last Grail and implanted them in her. I didn't think the fifth would come so soon …." Tohsaka and Ilya both look horrified at the explanation, but Ilya quickly lowers her head and turns away, shaking. You look at her, wondering at her reaction - but the Einzbern's created the Lesser Grails, and the Lesser Grail ten years ago was her mother, so her mother's remains were placed within Rider's Master. You drift over to her and slowly, moving so she can see you, place a hand on her shoulder. She straightens and shakes her head; the anger is still evident on her face, but she has it under control now.
"Thank you, Zouken. Still, you have to agree that Sakura is out of control right now. Won't you help us stop her? If the situation can be salvaged, maybe there will be a next time." You frown at Ilya, and the old mage turns back to face you, eyes thoughtful.
"Hmph. If you want my help, you will need to pay for it." One of his worms slithers out of his sleeve and he raises his hand, holding it out as he looks at you. "Why don't you pay? The more energy I get from you, the more I'll help. Maybe you'll even come to like it, and I can give you some of my pets. Hm?" Ilya shakes her head and Tohsaka seems shocked. Matou chuckles. "Well, if you don't like that, why don't you suggest something? It'll have to be something good, though, and I'm not going to haggle - I'm an old man, and I need my sleep." He laughs again.
