[X] "Hmm..."
-[X] "So why are you telling me this? Hmm? Is it something you can't beat~"
--[X] If she's like Sakuya then she'd probably tell you the truth to get you to do something than a lie... using the truth has always worked out better!
---[X] But she isn't your maid... so huh maybe she's not really like Sakuya. Easy way to figure it out!
----[X] "I know, if you're my maid until the good fight shows up, then I wouldn't mind waiting for it and trusting you! I wouldn't even have to leave my lair~"
"Hmm ...." You stop glaring and plop to the ground. "Hehe. I wonder why you're making this offer ... you obviously have something to gain. Something you can't beat, and it's rubbing you raw? Maybe it's out to get you specifically, and you know you can't beat it?" She just stands there, though. You wonder just how much like Sakuya she really is - then again, Sakuya knows a lot about how vampires think. This girl, on the other hand, probably doesn't. She knows about you, so she's obviously talked to Mami and Miki - she wouldn't know you were looking for a good fight otherwise. But she obviously thinks she has some sort of advantage, because she wouldn't be standing in front of you so arrogantly otherwise. And in the middle of the night ... you're pretty sure she has very incomplete information.
You assume that she doesn't know how much a vampire values a given word, so any deal you make with her must - for now, at least - come with some sort of guarantee. She already refused to let you keep her Soul Gem ... but she never actually refused to become your maid! She just acted like you hadn't asked it. You giggle, and the girl sighs and begins to turn away. Ah!
"Hey!" She turns back to you. "You never answered my question. How would you feel about being my maid?" She frowns. "I don't particularly trust you, because you're a stranger and I can't read you ... but if you're my maid, then because you're my loyal servant, I would trust you! Maybe I wouldn't even have to leave my lair until this awesome fight." She faces you fully.
"Your maid? You want me to dress up in a maid outfit, call you "My Lady," cook and clean for you?" You giggle.
"May~be. I think you'd look cute in Sakuya's outfit, but you don't have to wear one. I don't think you're a good enough cook to take care of my meals, though - maybe I'll just have you handle ... procurement." She twitches, just a bit, and you shrug. "Or maybe not. Ah, and you'd have to make sure only people who can actually fight come to meet me - I don't want any boring people to get past you. That would defeat the purpose, since a maid is supposed to take out the trash!" You think for a moment, then nod. "Oh, and can you sew?" She blinks and tilts her head.
"Sew? Like, needle and thread?" You nod and point to your shirt.
"Yeah. A couple someones put some holes in my shirt. I don't like them, and I can't fix it myself. So obviously I would have my maid take care of it." She seems completely bewildered - does she think you're some kind of super-mage who can just snap her fingers to fix clothes? She seems to relax after a moment, though, and looks at the floor.
"May ... may I have some time to think your offer through?" Well, at least she's treating this seriously.
"Mmm ... sure! What's today?" She looks oddly at you for a moment while you look up at the sky.
"... The 29th of March." You nod after a moment.
"Then you can have until the end of Friday," you say cheerfully. She nods thoughtfully.
"Thank you .... I could also show you where some othe-!" She gasps in pain as you squeeze her left arm, snapping bones as you glare at her. She probably never saw you move.
"Let me clarify something for you. This would be so I don't have to waste my time fighting weak little youkai every time I see one. If you know where everything is hiding out, great - tell the Miki girl, or deal with them yourself. I'm not your attack dog. If you try to make me deal with something, and it's not worth my time, I shall be very unhappy. Do you understand?" She nods slowly, and you release her arm and wave, smiling happily. "Then I'll see you by Friday! Take care!" You walk toward the tunnels you've been using, wondering what she will decide.
The echoing of voices wakes you up, and you stretch your wings as much as the cramped nook will allow. Someone's here! ... In the middle of the day, three people, whispering to each other.
"You're sure she's supposed to be here? I'm not picking up anything except rodents ...."
"It's what Kyubey said. You know he doesn't lie."
"Doesn't mean he's always right, though ...." The first voice again. You really wish you could see them, but they haven't actually entered the tunnel yet. And you're not about to walk outside just yet. "And I still say we should have brought a stake with us. Whether she really is a vampire, or just an insane magical girl who thinks she's one, a stake through the heart is definitely going to put her down."
"Would've been nice if we could have gotten either of the locals to bother helping us out, though; a magical girl killing people is bad enough. Someone getting caught doing it, and the video plastered all over the net - that's a major problem for everyone." You almost change back to your regular form, but freeze when you remember something: Kyouko could communicate with Mami without talking. Why aren't these three? They walk into the room just as you crawl toward the edge of the nook, and you squeak as a beam of light centers itself on you. "Ah-ha!" The tallest girl yells in triumph before the beam moves away from you.
"Oh, calm down Satsuki - it's just a bat. Leave it alone." The first girl, who has very long hair, almost as long as Meiling's. The tall girl looks over at her.
"Huh? I thought you said there were only rodents around?"
"Yeah ...?" You crawl to the ledge, wondering just what you should do. You're not sure what lone bats are supposed to do!
"... Momo, bats aren't rodents. They're in a completely different order." The third girl ... you can't really see. How strange! "But it looks like our target's not here right now, so what should we do? Wait for her to come back, ambush her? Go hunting? Leave and come back some other time?"
You hardly know what to think! You haven't even been here a week, and already you have would-be vampire hunters after you! You almost can't hold back the laughter. Of course, it would be better if they were actually competent hunters - if they knew what they were doing, they'd be very polite, come at night, and explain things. That's what the hunters who were after Remilia always did. Sometimes she even let them live! Coming during the day, that's just rude.
