Firebird, a Worm AU/Xover?

Her New Friends are actually Halbeard -Bots in disguise. Like Doombots, but more Beard and less Doom.

I am curious on how Taylor didn't pick up their "we'll" have to bounce around 6,when they're purported to barely know each other, as its a much more definitive clue that they know each other in addition to what's been shown....but I may have missed something, as I'm reading in mobile

So on one side the Indie heroes have either intentionally or unintentionally befriended the host for a cosmic force of death and rebirth,
the ABB and E88 are running around trying to figure out who made the flaming phoenix thingy,
and the Protectorate along with the PRT in the same bandwagon as well.
Now the important question is, how far can we escalate this scenario before MAD is achieved for Brockton Bay and the rest of the world?

Interesting. I hope Dean isn't a complete moron and reports his encounter with Taylor. Because there are no will saving throws in wormverse normally, and being undetectable (and immune to an emotion inducing aura) can only mean two things:
1) Complete lack of any and all emotions

2) A power - and a power that masks you from detection fits the theme of what PRT thinks Taylor's power might be, and would explain how their MRI was "wrong".

He's reasonably certain it isn't the former, as he is somewhat competent at reading physical cues, and she does have those, so he's leaning toward the latter. And yes, he isn't a complete moron. We may see more on that in 1.7.

You forgot the Merchants. They have embarked on a pilgrimage to find the "Unholy Fuckton of Fucking Awesome Shit that makes them see Fucking Awesome Goddamned Firebirds in the Fucking Sky"

-Armsmaster continues to be awesome.
And Chubster gets no respect, which might be why he chose that name in particular.

-Minako and Catherine seem to be suspiciously comfortable with each other.
And rather fortuitously notice Sophia cornering Taylor in the stairwell.
Didn't Armsmaster mention something about a Mover/surveillance Thinker couple hassling the Merchants?

They're obviously not Hanabi and Rockshow; @chibipoe wouldn't be that obvious about his shoutouts to Marvel.
Unless Freightrain/Spyglass are the same people as Hanabi/Rockshow under different masks.
*paranoia intensifies*

-Speaking of Sophia, she seems a little more unbalanced than normally depicted.
And almost outed herself to Taylor.

-Poor Gladly remains mindcrushed.
He was a mediocre teacher, but that isn't usually a capital offense.

-Taylor STILL hasn't associated Victoria with Glory Girl.
Wasn't she a cape buff in canon? And aren't New Wave local celebs in and out of costume?

- The mall is apparently five minutes walk from the corner store.
Five minutes is a very impressive response time for a crooked shop clerk and his accomplices, especially if he didn't know which way she was heading.
And he had no warning she was coming in, or that she went to the bus route and then left there to return to the mall.
This rather stretches my SoD, especially with the bully boys being on foot.

-That jacket is pretty distinctive isn't it?
I forsee shenanigans.
And I hope for Vicky's sake that Taylor doesn't take her keeping an eye on her the wrong way.

They might think she had been Mastered previously.

Self-depreciation humor while creating a Cape Name? That would actually be potentially a really funny character quirk. Maybe Chubster is the kind of person that does stand-up?

Or in his case sit-down?

Ba-dum-tish

But really, it would be kinda funny to see a cape that's also a sort of part-time comedian. Can you imagine what fighting that sort of guy would be like? The sheer fury as he spouts off fast-witted oneliners and sharp-tongued zingers?

They would be Hanabi and Rockshow. Or not. But the thing is, Rockshow and Hanabi could be a booby-trap of story-telling. Chibi can be leading us in by carroting Parahumans with names that hint towards Marvel Characters so that he can get away writing something else while we are distracted. It's entirely possible that Hanabi is actually Bakuda who never went nuts. But I doubt it. Sorta. I'm treating it like a Ninja-Red Herring.

Rockshow in turn could be Canary who never went into professional singing. And never got feathers in her hair.

Both names fit. Hanabi as a colorful form of explosive, and Rockshow is a kind of musical performance.

What's to remember is that it's Chibipoe. And he won't just put something blatantly forward. He's hiding something here. Just can't be sure what.

Well, I imagine she's had a stressful week. Sophia is never the kind to brood, and that's what she's been forced to do all week: Brood like an Anime Character. And the frustration of Taylor avoiding all her attacks and then looking at her with Phoenix-Style contempt. That would drive Sophia up the bloody wall.

So I'll chock up her almost-slip to the fact that she's close to having had enough of this bullshit.

-Poor Gladly remains mindcrushed.
He was a mediocre teacher, but that isn't usually a capital offense.

Eh, probably wasn't intentional that he got mind-crushed. And it seems to be less mind-crush and more Command-Loop. He's mentally stuck trying to repetitively obey Taylor's telepathic command between moments where his mind is trying to shrug off the fact that it's been Master'ed.

Start A, Execute C, Loop B to A. Rinse and repeat.

-Taylor STILL hasn't associated Victoria with Glory Girl.
Wasn't she a cape buff in canon? And aren't New Wave local celebs in and out of costume?

Yes, but that is partially because she became a Cape in the first place. It's when she started seriously considering going out to be a Hero she looked up all the names and faces of everybody. So she knows about Glory Girl, but hasn't memorized her face to the point she could easily recognize her in and out of costume. It's sorta like knowing a celebrity, yes, but when you see them on the street you'll often not make the connection unless you really look.

Current headcanon for this fic is that Hanabi, Minako, and the character who was Bakuda in canon are all the same person... and didn't exist until Phoenix decided to make Taylor a couple friends.

How? Bullshit cosmic power, of course. Phoenix/Sleeper OTP.

It's possible. Phoenix doesn't even have to make them from nothing. Just reach into the Infinite Pool of Life-force and pluck out a few humans and bring them into existence early. From there it's just a question of rearranging reality a little bit to account for them being their suddenly instead of always being there. Except they've always been there, and the Phoenix says so.

But I doubt it.

Still, it's an epic source of OC's. Want to explain why a character suddenly exists? Phoenix Force bitch!

I'm just putting it out their
Hanabi- Japanese for Bee
Taylor has the Phoenix force
Queen administrator might go for a wander
Hanabi described as having a surveillance power
Bugs allowed Taylor superior battlefield awareness

Take the hint

Nah, they are actually aliens (that just so happen to look remarkably like humans) that came to earth to monitor the latest host of the Phoenix Force. But the best part of it is that they don't know they're monitoring the Phoenix. They think they're watching an entity, possibly one they've already had contact with.

All of this is also the reason Zion and Eden picked a lower tech level Earth for this cycle. The planet Minako and Catherine come from was to advanced to be destroyed completely without too much risk.

That is....

Horribly, horribly wrong. But I've already been imp'ed.

Mitsubachi, or Hachi, is Japanese for Bee.

As has been pointed out, Hanabi is Japanese for Fireworks, or Firecracker.

Which would make the Hanabi <--> Jubilee connection a pretty solid one, but it's been Jossed already.
