Firebird, a Worm AU/Xover?

Obviously the Dark Phoenix will be hatched by the most devious and under-handed precog in the setting... Dinah.

Taylor: "Hello, little girl. What's your power?"

Dinah: "I precog better than you."

Taylor: "WHAT?!"

Dinah: "97.53% chance you explode in a jealous rage and kill Scion."

Taylor: "SCREW YOU LITTLE GIRL I'm actually that sounds like a nice workout. Bye!"

Bets on who sets off the dark phoenix first?
I'd like to point out that Dark Phoenix only came about due to Mastermind's mind-fuckery turning Jean into a psychopathic sadist and weakening the psychic barriers that restrained the full power of the Phoenix Force.

I somewhat doubt even something as terrible as Danny being killed would be enough to set her off that much (though I'm sure people will burn for it).

On the other hand, if she's subjected to something similar to what the S9 did in Acceleration, and doesn't take it as well as that Taylor, that may be a different case.

I'd like to counter that with the fact that timeline-wise, the Phoenix is coming right off the heels of that, and so all those pieces and bits and bobs of the Dark Phoenix experience are floating around in Taylor's shared subconsciousness with the Phoenix. Along with bits of Jean and of course, the Phoenix itself.

Spreading misinformation and confusion? Me? Not a chance.

Ah, I must have missed that. I was unaware that the Phoenix Force's arrival in the Wormverse occurred just after that.
^ Evidence of Dark Phoenix.

From the very first chapter.
I admit, I had forgotten about that bit. Probably because Taylor hasn't shown any of this line of thinking since. How foolish of me. This is, after all, Worm, where things only go from bad to worse to mass extinction.

Pretty much. After all, one of my Taylor's is one bad day away from blowing up the planet.

I'd imagine that this is pretty much true with all OP Taylor.

Hell, Accelerator Taylor almost accidentally a city in her grief. Also got to the point where she could manipulate the air currents of the world I think.

It seemed the best point, for me. Phoenix, reeling and 'hurt' after its host rejected it.

Yeah. Well, I don't know about mass extinction. It's one of the perils of starting in short snippet format. Things I might not have done if I had started as a full story. Megalomania has been dialed back, for now.

Pretty much. After all, one of my Taylor's is one bad day away from blowing up the planet.

Oh, I don't know about that.

And man, people have much higher calcs for my demonstrated feats of Acceleration!Taylor than I did.

Mostly comes from the fact that the character that originally has Taylor's powers is stronger then a fucking god. Controlling the air currents is how he made the plasma in the first place btw. Therefore Taylor controlled the air currents to make hers.

Sorta like Lugia's aeroblast.

Yeah, going to lay down that this topic has been exhausted quite thoroughly. 2.9 will address a great deal of this. So, move to another discussion.

On the plus side, the massive argument shows you have a number of people very committed, which means they're well invested in the story. So there's that.

Since I might as well actually contribute, I'd say that Danny and Taylor have equally good reasons for what they want, and neither of them are going to budge. I'd be somewhat sad if Taylor ended up in the Wards, because then things just get cookie-cutter Wards!Taylor, which would be quite boring. I quite like the antagonistic relationship, because it's got way more potential. Also, let's note in canon Taylor proved she's willing to just walk away from home, and here I think she's very near her limit.

I have a good guess who's going to set the Dark Phoenix off.

Danny.

:p

That's how Chibipoe is going to kill Danny off this time.

You forgot that canon Taylor as a mildly successful super villain at the point when she walked out on Danny. Taylor has only been a hero for what... a couple of weeks here?

Plus she had some sort of resources that helped her on her own. Take away her job as a criminal and she had no source of income, no job prospects and no real education. She'd either be couch surfing or on the streets in any other situation.

Well, she could always raid the gangs for cash at least. Though that would make her easy to track when she runs away.

I don't know, the vigilante laws that let people keep the money that they "confiscate" from gangs always seemed like a bit of fan fic wankery to get Taylor a shit ton of money really quickly, kind of like the HP Pounds to Galleons to Gold to Pounds to Galleons thing. If that was a thing why were the Undersiders considered villains, all they did was rob Lung. Plus it really seems like that would be open to abuse, I mean what constituttes a villain, and that is not even getting into if a "villain" and a "vigilante" worked together.

I'd assume there'd be some limits on what a person could take. It might even be unofficial. Like if you take down a few dealers and take 200 bucks off them, the cops aren't going to waste resources to get that money back, but if you take 200 grand off a group of dealers that's an issue because that's money that would need to go into evidence.

Going by IRL law, it's complete bullshit. Nobody's gonna make a stink if you steal from a criminal, but you can't be caught doing it, admit to doing it, or be found out to be doing it. They'll (that is the Law) will hold you accountable, it is illegal to profit from crime whether it's your crime or another's.

There is probably a bounty system in place for spoils. And you probably need to register for that. Kinda how Independents would be able to fund themselves.

After all it is better if said independents steal from criminals than citizens.

IRL murder is illegal, in Worm murder is illegal. Why? Because murder is morally/ethically wrong and disruptive to society.
IRL profiting from crime is illegal. Why? It isn't just because the profits gained from crimes are considered illegally obtained/damages of the crimes committed. That would fall under moral/ethical wrongness and disruption of society. It's because crime is morally/ethically wrong and disruptive to society so it cannot be incentivized in any way. You may not keep the money you mugged a man for, you may not keep the insurance money you killed for, you may not keep the money given to you by your drug-dealing financial supporter, and you may not loot criminals because that incentivizes criminality. Not because it always benefits a criminal, but because Crime is not allowed to pay, and you've just turned a profit from somebody committing a crime. On top of that, that money you took is evidence and/or forfeited to the state because it is either illegally obtained or damages of the crimes committed. There is a reason criminal organizations launder their money.

.... Earth bet is not real life. Some rules would be changed to reflect that. Like independents getting bounties on the drugs they bring in from busting criminals, or their guns.

Deal with it.
