Rolling First on the d10

[X] Allow Sypha to tell this people she trusts what you told her. Maybe, if you can get some allies, you can convince humans that they don't have to be scared of you.

I don't trust Bernard to keep our manakete-ness a secret, so might as well gamble on getting good allies.

I wish we could keep it a secret but that ship has sailed.

Besides she won't even be able to tell anyone until she gets home, which could be months away.

but of dragon-me's threatened
"if"

But I know there are a lot of cool rituals that I'll be able to learn things that make life so much easier.
That "things" feels completely redundant to me.

Bernard rolls his eyes and mutters something about girls, only to oof as Sypha elbows him.
Sypha, you do remember that you are currently something like a thousand feet in the air, don't you?

They were transformed manakere
Pretty sure you mean "manakete". And on a related note, I'm also pretty sure the plural of "manakete" is "manaketes".

"Not on the way you're thinking,"
"in"

[X] Ask Sypha not to tell anyone. You're not ready for knowledge of your nature to start becoming more common. You'll also ask Bernard not to tell, though you're not sure he'll agree to it…

I feel like we should at least try to keep the secret to some degree.

So uh, we running all cards on the table now then?

It just bothers me to not even ask him to keep it a secret, considering the dangers.
A) We let Sypha talk to people she thinks will help us. Bernard feels free to tell people who likely hate dragons. More or less net neutral depending on how highly you value potential allies versus keeping Ryza's existence a secret.

B) We ask for secrecy.
- B1: Both keep the secret. Nothing good comes out of it but also nothing bad.
-B2: Sypha keeps the secret because she is a good friend. Bernard does not and tells people who likely strongly dislike dragons. Net negative outcome.

Letting Sypha talk to people who might help us is in my opinion the high risk high reward play. And personally I want to attempt to get ahead of any negative spreading rumors of a dragon existing.

As someone who has consistently been on the votes to preserve secrecy even when it may have put us or our party in more danger in the immediate-term... I think the ship finally sailed when we transformed in front of Mantrae's people (and why I desperately hoped against common sense we could somehow evade that.) It's not even a matter of playing prisoner's dilemma with Bernard and Sypha here - unless Kelton, Belle, and Mantrae's forces are wiped out by the Talons our secret is already out of our hands. I assume Ryza will emphasize that she be careful with who they tell, at least before it becomes widely known but even that might not amount to much.

Spotted another error;

That "no" should be in italics.

Also, the point where I corrected the "manakere" typo is the only point in the update (and the Quest if I'm not mistaken) where you used "manaketes" as the plural. Every other time, you used "manakete" as both the plural and the singular.

True. I'm deciding now that manakete is its own plural, and I'll keep it that way.

As for the other one, that was intentional: when Ryza's talking in italics, standard letters are used for emphasis, and she's saying that, so long as she couldn't get surrounded, Mother could beat as many wyverns as exist in the world. A bit hyperbolic? Perhaps, but she was a Yellow manakete herself and nearly seven centuries old, she she was very powerful.

We still need to hide, but now that we can't really hide behind a cloak of secrecy we need armor made of allies; from what I can tell, Mantrae's Mage is already something of a sympathizer, but if we provided her a genuine narrative from potentially the "last living dragonfolk" that could galvanize the sympathizer movement.

We still don't want to go roaming around the countryside in dragon form, obviously, but we might be able to secure the rights to our home, particularly with this win under our belts. Now that we'll have resolved the crisis, we might be able to ask for a protected expedition back home to pick through everything we want and learn more things...but then the Empire will decide quietly being jerks isn't enough they need to loudly be jerks...

It's Fire Emblem, we know how the plot goes. I look forward to being surprised or being right, and either will be a delight. Fire Emblem's never been about the plot, it's about making us care about the characters and our QM's been doing that very well.

All told, we've done a pretty terrible job of staying under the radar, dragon-wise. I actually believe we should start telling people and getting ahead of the situation before it all blows up, but let's do it back with Artemis and her people, where we can talk to them personally and they can get to know us. Not long-distance with Bernie's circle of friends, who are probably the sort to just make things worse.

Of course, it's be nice to start making friends over in Mantrae's lands, too, assuming they'll overlook the time we turned several of their night-shift guards into high energy plasma. We could tell Sypha she could tell this Mistress Flarestone and no one else, that might go over better than just trying to make it a universal Very Secret Thing.

At least one of these people sounds like an open-minded scholar who might actually be on the side of dragons as a whole. That sounds like a seed I'm interested in planting.

Our cover is rather thoroughly blown at this point. Between Mantrae's people on the ground and the imperial stooge on our back, word is gonna spread one way or another. Might as well try and steer the narrative.

I disagree that Bernard is an Imperial Stooge, personally. He reads as someone who hasn't had a conflicting narrative given to him ever. Regardless, as many have pointed out, the secret is out now. We failed to keep it a secret quite frankly the moment we revealed it in Agrithe. Spies exist, and I'm almost certain someone is capable of putting two and two together.

Just my thoughts, personally.
