Welp, it's definitely Kana's grandfather that's going to be summoned at this point

For the first time, Archer wonders if he should have stayed. If he should have taken Rin's offer, and remained a constant presence.

...No, it wouldn't have been right. He didn't need that kind of shadow looming over him. It would be annoying.
The perks of being virgin, eh? :p
Cu looks him in the eye, his expression steady. The constant presence of Herakles looms over them, intimidating and promising swift defeat even with the small white creature sitting atop his head, eagerly watching their contest of wills.
So, Cu is a dog, EMIYA is a cat, and Heracles is Arnold Schwarzeneger. With spritz bottle.
Lancer laughs again. "You're a son of a bitch, Archer. We should have drinks someday."

"That's not how you invite people to drink, Lancer."

"Isn't it? C'mon, just because I think you're a piece of shit doesn't mean we can't get drunk together."
Celtic gonna Celtic.
Herakles smiles at him. Or, at least, tries to. It's like someone trying to smile for the first time, except they were hewn from obsidian and menaced with spikes. The point is, were he not already dead on the inside, Archer might have tried to run away screaming for his life. Still, he appreciates the gesture.
Like this?

Emiya Shirou never really thought what he would look like as a girl – it was a waste of time, you see, and something that could never actually happen anyways – but all signs indicate that he would look something like the girl in front of him.
I can't wait until the day Chloe appears. :D
Archer smiles as Kana giggles. She claps her thighs as she ponders her next question. "Oh, Archer-dad! Why're you dark skinned and white haired?"
...Important question?
It might be an answer, but he doubts it. Why would Alaya brand its servants like that in life? "That would be dumb. And pointless. You'd be able to identify contractees immediately."
So, like humanity in general, then. :V
"Maybe you survived longer than most contractors! Who knows? Maybe Alaya is just really into ganguro... guys,"
Well, considering Solomon...
"Alaya is timeless and also I'm fairly certain an actual sociopath,"
Actual sociopath can actually have hobbies, y'know.
"Alright then, we'll make a bet. If the next Counter Guardian we summon is dark skinned, grey eyed and white haired, I win! Otherwise, you win." A beat. "Joan of Arc doesn't count because we already know who she is. Also she's not a 'proper' Counter Guardian anymore."
Somewhere, sometime, Alter EMIYA felt the need to laugh like a loon.
"And what does the winner get?"

Kana taps her chin some more. "Hmm... If I win, you owe me a favor! Like a Command Seal sort of deal, except I don't actually have to spend it, and it probably won't provide any combat benefit. But basically an absolute command, that kind of thing!"
Somewhere, sometime, a Faker in another world, contracted to a little pinkette with affinity of blowing up things, sneezed.
"I'm not a video game, I can't just arbitrarily set my difficulty level."
:rofl::lol:rofl::lol:rofl::lol
His eyes widen in realisation. It's not about being a better fighter then. She just wants to feel like she's sparring with Emiya Shirou again. Chuckling, Archer stands up and folds his arms. Disgusting, since when did he start submitting to gir—oh, wait. That has literally never changed.
Awwwww.

Also, apparently no matter the age or time, Shirou Emiya would never stop being house husbando.:D

It seems the greatest son of Greece continues to surpass himself with every incarnation.
Herc is like Joseph Joestar he only gets better with age.

Nice chapter though I feel Archer's relationship with Kana is a bit awkward since it seems less like Kana is bonding with Counter Guardian EMIYA and more projecting her relationship with her father onto his alternate self. It just feels off to me like if Kana was treating Saber Alter or Lily as the same as vanille Saber when all three are different people despite being the same.

I mostly agree with this, but can be answered with a select few words: Kana Tohsaka is quite possibly THE largest case of Daddy's Girl in recent Nasu-verse history.

Even if she's kind of flaky (really not the sharpest knife, academically), and may intellectually know that EMIYA isn't actually Daddy dearest... she can't help herself.

Yep, right on the money. She knows this man isn't her father. They look the same, act the same, and could have been the same. But Archer is not her dad.

At the same time, Kana's dad is dead. He didn't join Chaldea. He's not coming back, maybe forever, at the very least not until they save the world. And that kills her. That's why she's thrilled that Archer is here, while normally she'd... probably still be thrilled, but not like this. They even react the same way; Shirou would be just as exasperated about her belief that Alaya is into Ganguro. She is projecting her relationship with her father onto Archer, and at some point she'll be called out on it. But he's happy to try and be a fatherly figure, so maybe their relationship will change into something healthier. Kind of like a grumpy uncle, or bitter nihilistic grandpa who talks about things back in his day.

Hey @Swordomatic does EMIYA have any Moon Cell memories and will he have any interactions with Extra-verse servants or is he purely stay night Archer?

Debating on that. I might just go with general animosity/fuzzy feelings, but on the other hand direct references to events in Extra might be funnier... on the third, I haven't played Extra and barely remember Tamamo's route from Zerban's playthrough, and their characters haven't changed and are the funny bits anyways...

Bah I'll leave it vague, EMIYA is technically not the same as Nameless on the Moon Cell anyways

Also fun fact can anyone guess at the other major grail related incident in Shirou, Rin, and Saber's lives after the Fifth

Quoting one of my earlier posts in this thread:
Does this coincide with Rin & Waver's joint effort to shut down the Greater Grail for good, but spirals out of control* into a Sixth Heaven's Feel, with Marisbury summoning Solomon...

...and thus curb-stomping all of the other official competitors and either ignoring, or purifying Angra Mainyu's corruption of the GG, turning it into a non-Monkey's Paw wish-granter?

* - With Shirou and/or Saber being drawn in out of either personal loyalty, obligation, or just plain unfinished/unresolved business back in Fuyuki?
...maybe? Kinda-sorta? Completely off the mark?

Not in Grand Order at least. Here in Grand Order, he goes Caster to sneer at Goetia and turns up in the Temple to laugh at him.
Until Kana somehow summons his Archer form that is. She'll accidentally get that nihilistic grandpa. Rate up is not a lie to her. :V

You're half right. Rin's effort to dismantle the Greater Grail ten years after the Fifth War did explode into a Sixth Holy Grail War. But things rapidly got even crazier than in the previous wars.

I'll probably touch on it when Rin or Shirou show up, or maybe even have Saber mention it briefly. But suffice to say there wasn't a single Servant that could be considered 'weak' incarnated, because the Grail was just so incredibly salty.

Caster was Solomon, of course, and Arturia was involved and allowed to cut loose for the first time since the Fifth War. But there were other servants, including another Saber.

Wait, so was it an Apocrypha scenario, only a Free-For-All? Man, that must have been something to see.

Not necessarily. Although Gilgamesh stuck around, the 'Archer'-class entry was open for EMIYA to be summoned into.

As for a peer opponent for Artoria... maybe Siegfried? And NOT the Sumanai-kun version that is reviled by the fandom.

Ah, good point. I forgot about that loophole in Grail War rules.
There are plenty of good Sabers to choose from, really. Siegfried as a non-suck version would be good. Then again, maybe one of the other Knights of the Round Table?

Or a peer King Under the Mountain, although the only one on the Wikipedia list of 'em that I think is known to be a Saber is Charlemagne and we don't know much about him yet.

If someone wants a completely and utterly broken KotRT... Galahad*.

Just... Galahad. Perfect Knight, indeed. Even his old man ain't as OP.

* - Don't judge his statistics when merged with Mashu as an example.

When fully manifested... just fucking OW. There's a quasi-official vid that shows how thoroughly he can curbstomp.

EDIT: Yeah, okay... Shielder isn't even an accepted Fuyuki Grail War class.

I still think that Galahad would break that rule just by appearing.
