Disciples of Red Dew Sect (Cultivation Riot Quest)

Voting is open
@Epic Bygones
Wu Ji Nin is fortunate enough to find one of the couriers that have recently been hired by the sect elders to connect the towns together. The messenger agrees to accept a package and letter from an honorable disciple and promises that it will be delivered to Wu Ji Nin's village. Some time later he receives a letter containing his mother's response thanking him for the silver and filled with gossip on the latest happenings in the village. It seems that life has good for them and with Wu Ji Nin's contribution they are thinking of expanding the fields.

One day he finds a simple note in his room. "You are interested in the workings of the world and devoted to your ancestors even as you shed your mortality. This is pleasing to me. You may ask two questions." It is unsigned, but has a sunflower drawn in the corner.
Wu Ji Nin will present the note to Elder Xuan, ask him what questions he'd like answered, write them in the same note and place it back where he found it in his room. @Rethall

-[X] Main Action: Repairing the Spirit Beast Farm: Accounts from your fellow disciples have shown that more aggressive attempts to solve the problem of the escaped llamas have failed, so you will try a different approach, drawing on your experience working with mundane livestock. Check the conditions of the pen interior and ensure it is in a suitable state to house the llamas. Ask the disciples working the ranch for a description of each llama and find out if they have any favorite treats. See if you can borrow whatever treats the llamas prefer, as well as brushes for grooming the llamas. Set out to locate the escaped llamas and approach them slowly in a nonthreatening manner with their favorite treats to gain their trust. Try to get the llamas used to walking up to you for treats and brush them if they will allow it; they are likely filthy after a month roaming wild and will probably enjoy it. After gaining their trust, attempt to simply lead them willingly back to their hopefully newly improved and more appealing pens by bribing them with treats. Work with your fellow disciples to achieve this if they are willing. Throughout your work, ask the disciples working the ranch why the initial job listing offered such a large reward for what is seemingly a simple, relatively unimportant job, and try to find out more information on Sunflower, their interest in the ranch, and the llamas themselves.

I was going to take the llama ranching job but 2/3 slots are filled and I don't wish to stand between Luòtuó and matters of fate.

Llama ranching time.

Jian Ke: Start Line
Jian Ke: Start Line

Jian Ke had been cutting things for as long as he could remember. He was born a mortal on the outskirts of split log town, and chopping firewood was considered one of the only acceptable pastimes for a young boy, so Jian chopped all the firewood for his family and a few of his elderly neighbors. It was dull and repetitive, but it was better than lazing around all day or listening to his neighbors who thought they knew everything, and after years of doing it Jian got quite good at it, by mortal child standards.

This unfortunately meant that he got through all the firewood that needed to be chopped faster, so he begged for and eventually got dispensation to go out with the adults and help fell trees. This was dull too, but the company was nice and the feeling of progress from working on a tree for hours and finally seeing it topple was satisfying.

Then one day, the routine was broken when a loud crashing sound echoed through the wooded hills, the canopy giving way like grass in the distance. It took far too long for anyone to realize that they should have been running.

A half dozen spirit oxen stampede through the forest, apparently they'd gotten loose on the way to the sect market, not that Jian ke knew at the time. From his perspective it might as well have been a heavenly tribulation. Men twice his size were gored before they could even swing their axes. Jian Ke's father was stronger than average and managed to drive his ax into the hide of one of the beasts, whereupon it bounced off harmlessly as the senior Jian was knocked down and trampled to death by the steer's charge.

Jian Ke knew that he could do nothing against these monsters, so he hid in the leaves of a fallen tree while the stampede continued, the sounds he could hear were the cracking of trees, the stomping of hooves and the whimpers of the dying, when those fell silent and Jian Ke heard a new sound, a keening sound and then dead silence followed by a clap like thunder.

Jian Ke's makeshift cover was blown away from the force of it, and Jian could see his savior, a cultivator with stark white robes and a sword so sharp it hurt to look at. The steers were stopped entirely before a newly made chasm with edges so smooth it was like the ground were nothing but butter, but one thing stuck out to Jian Ke most of all. The cultivator wasn't bored at all, a small smile playing on their lips, and their sword danced out at a dizzying array of angle, completely surrounding the steers with chasms, so unlike the unwieldy and heavy axes he was accustomed to, which could really only be well used with an overhead chop for making firewood or a lumbering horizontal swing for…making lumber. For the first time, Jian Ke didn't care what was expected of him, or what was realistic. Jian Ke knew what he wanted to do with his life. He wanted to be a swordsman.

Jian Ke could not afford a sword, so he whittled a branch into a crude facsimile and practiced as best he could. He did not have the age to seek formal training, so he practiced for a long time. He did not have the knowledge of any proper sword techniques or how to cultivate, so he trekked to the Red Dew Sect, which was practically courting death considering the state the roads were in at the time, and applied to join.
The examiner was unfailingly polite and quite nice when he told Jian that he had a working spirit root and could cultivate, and it even had 4 stripes on it, which Jian Ke would later learn was higher than average, even by the standards of those who were accepted to this illustrious sect.

Next came six months of training that revealed all his previous efforts as naught but childish games. Every muscle in his body burned and ached most nights, and he was given a real if dull sword to practice forms with. It was like a new torment every day, but on the other hand back in town he was lucky if he saw a new thing every month, so Jian was ecstatic.

His breakthrough to Tempered Peasant was more troublesome than his peers, meaning that it took an extra month before he was ready for missions and his fellows in the admissions batch were so impressive on their first proper mission Jian knew he had to be so as well, and he knew that to do that he'd have to get stronger. So he attended every lecture he could, finally breaking through to tempered eyes.

In his time listening to the Elders' wisdom, Jian Ke also kept his ears open to the wisdom of his fellow disciples. There was always something interesting on the boards used for missions and some of his fellow disciples had rather loose lips, especially when Jian hung out at bars late at night.

Jian felt terrible when the merit scores were revealed. He was tied for the second worst disciple in his batch. Wanting to make a good first impression had merely lead to the opposite. Jian stared at the merit scores every day, using them as motivation to work harder until one day they'd changed. Not only had his relative standing improved marginally, the road to no longer being a burden felt much shorter, and the elders had posted a new slate of missions, including one to protect some loggers from spirit beasts, supervised by one of the elders who could most help his sword skills. Jian took it gladly, a carefree smile on his lips.

Do you want to work together with Hawk, Wuyin, and Hong Xing? If we do that, we can pool our dice together and more reliably hit 2 successes each due to the way cooperative rolls work.

If the others that are going to take this mission agrees, I would like to perform a collaborative action, pooling together our successes and then split them equally between us. Better to perform averagely that having some painful failures with a mission with such risk.

[X] Changjian Meinu and Meilu
-[X] Main Action: Take up the Caravan Guards task, with most if not all of their basics and foundation done in swordsmanship, the Changjian Twins along with some of their friends decided to escort and aid the soon-to-depart caravan visiting the nearby sects whether it be in defense against threats or perhaps at least showing what a proper Outer Courtyard Disciple from the Red Dew Sect truly is.
--[X] Spirit, hopefully with a more elevated sense of spirituality, the twins and their friends will be able to manage things in the social side and coordinate with one another as a group once a defense is needed for the caravan.
--[X] Red Dew School Technique, and thankfully with their Sect's namesake technique learned by all of them, they'll hopefully show a good showing in both matters at once. There was also Meinu wanting to see if she can get more Insights on what she's referring to as The Path of the Piercing Blade with the help of said technique...
--[X] Peasant-realm, Copper-grade Sword and Armor, that, and by happy coincidence, the whole group has a proper weapon and protection in the form of the sword and armor given to them by the Elder of Archives after attending the previous lecture. With such boon, they should be able to cope up against any hostile threats to the caravan!
-[X] Aux Action: Cultivate, as per usual, it was best to continue cultivating and thankfully Meinu and Meilu have each other to ease out the anxiety, boredom and loneliness of doing so alone.
--[X] Red Dew School Technique, though the eldest of the two Changjian brought up an interesting tidbit: would the youngest be able to use the innate ability of her eyes to help easily look for the right specific elemental qis to help Forge their Organs rather than having to do so randomly and having to spend time converting the non-main elemental qi they managed to absorb to be turned to said main-elemental qi? It helped, a bit, but with the newly learned namessake Technique of their Sect at their disposal, perhaps it's best to switch to using that instead and see how it fares?

Apparently, my little 'tidbit' post went out of hand and I don't think I'll be able to finish it in time at home, so I'll post 'it' later at work. Hopefully. Maybe. @_@;

EDIT: The little 'tidbit'! :V
A Spar, Talks and a Suggestion. Snip!
