Disciples of Red Dew Sect (Cultivation Riot Quest)

Voting is open
Are there mechanical and/or narrative benefits to tempering single organs or do they come when the whole set of them is completed? Or maybe not even then, and an actual breakthrough is needed?

You get to increase one attribute for every organ.

It costs merit to go the lectures? I thought we were invited for free, is that why so many of us have negative merit scores?

Yes, the elders are trying to heavily disincentivize going to lectures instead of actually doing missions. Because all it takes is one elder offering a free lecture and all of a sudden nothing else gets done.

Alright, so the process for deciding which disciples get which missions now that missions have disciple limits has been laid out on discord, but I'm gonna post it here in thread so people can see it and act accordingly:

  • Missions get posted for the turn, and voting opens. Disciples sign up for missions with limited slots on a first come first serve basis.
  • If during the voting process, a mission accumulates too many votes, an Elder will reach out and try to get the excess disciples to go elsewhere
  • If a mission has excess disciples when voting closes, an Elder in charge of assignment that turn will consult with the overseeing Elder for the mission with excess to reassign the excess disciples to a mission that is underserved. If there is no overseeing Elder for a mission, then the Elder in charge of assignment will handle the reassignment on their own.
  • If at the end of this process, there remains an excess of disciples signed up for missions, then they will be assigned to a mission that can accommodate excess disciples, preferably their original intended mission.
  • If no such missions exist, a new mission that can take on an indefinite number of disciples will be created and excess disciples deposited there.

A Drunken Xing wanders into the court yard clearly ready to make a speech.

*Sigh*... the merit bounties, they represent doing Jobs directly for the sect to either repay the kindness shown to us by the sect or to try and endear ourselves to the Sect. So remember my Sect brothers and sister whenever you don't make it onto a bounty this is business as usual, take a mission they've still gotta get done or take the chance to work on yourself: Cultivate to do better in future missions, work on a personal goal, Do something WILD (looking at you Death). Taxes are the way of the heavens and even if we must travel 1000 li, we will overcome them its the journey that makes it worthwhile. As disciples of the Red Dew Sect this just means we've gotta work harder and party even HARDER this is the way we will wage WAR on the heavens *hiccup* sooooo good luck and goodnight...can someone help me back to my room.

I report to you that the Database has been updated with the Results of Turn 2, up to post 749. Tomorrow I'll try to close it, if I can.

You get... 2 merit points (This was not decided by me.)
Ooof.

Public notice. If you DO decide to do the super dangerous thing of exploring and find...

-A place we can grow herbs (or rice)

-A place that would be good to cultivate. (Volcanoes, sacred pretty lakes in the moonlight, a vein of spiritual metal)

-Natural treasures such as QI enchanted wood or metal.

-Groups of spirit beasts of any level.

The sect would be willing to pay a reasonable finders fee. (Probably on the order of several months of even YEARS of cultivation resources.)

Lesson learned, lol. Get payment agreed upon in advance.

I think you have a lot of characteristics listed as "clay" that should be "null"
Here, proof of the change
Arcane The Heavens has chosen to be kind and grant you disciples (specifically the player ones) a +1 to spirit and fortune. Be grateful.
So all of our starting base stats are at Clay tier?
Yes, you will have noticed that you are smarter and luckier than your peers.

What's the result needed for that to happen? Is it the same for every organ and every grade or variable?

What effect/uses do Raw Materials have?

Elder Xuan suggested we get rid of them as soon as we're able to, get something more immediately useful in return. Do we know how (action or not), where, and for what/how much (items/spirit stones)? Wu Ji Nin would want to find out regardless on whether he wants to actually sell/trade them or not, and he feels like the coins connect him to the other owners, so he'd want to see what they think.

Sect brother I intend to hold onto mine for awhile I have a friend interested in the secrets of ice and Intend to lend him my fortune. These coins do connect us and I admit I am hesitant to relinquish them especially as I don't believe I will be taking the Elder up on his offer, being no refiner myself. Fear not though, how you choose to spend your luck is your decision alone and I believe any decision you make will be the right decision for you.

Mei Senghai, Gu Jin, Xìngyùn xīng, Liao Chuanli, and Wu Ji Nin: ???
Do we know or have an inkling of what this was/is? It's from turn 2, when we also found the 7 sword coins.

Edit - I saw one of us speculating it might be related to the secret room or the imperial delegation/leader, either of which would make sense. Anything else?

I also checked every instance one of these ??? appeared. These two didn't come with any hint that I could see:
Trần An Giang: Cultivation +6, ???
Hong Xing: Red Dew School Learned 2/3 ???, Copper Sword, Copper armor

While this one, on the other hand:
A handful of disciples grasp this immediately including the Changjian sisters and Wuyin with their ability to easily see the qi that the elders are using and how it is being shaped. Though Wuyin is hit with a nasty headache afterwards and has to lie down.

Changjian Meinu: Red Dew School Learned, Copper Sword, Copper armor
Wuyin: Red Dew School Learned, +1 Insight Path of Cartography, ???, Copper Sword, Copper armor
Given that ??? is likely a catch-all for anything the QM doesn't want to immediately reveal, odds are Wuyin's case (and the related nasty headache) is totally different from ours (and everyone else's), but I thought I'd document it, anyway. It might be helpful for later.

That's a pretty good documentation of everything you know about it. You all don't feel any different. Except poor Wuyin.

More questions, sorry:

1) In what ways do we gain Insights on our path and/or other things?

2) How do Insights relate to Breakthroughs, and how do Breakthroughs work anyway?

3) What do we know about techniques and Qi costs, and how does Qi even work and increase?

4) Do Friends count for the upper limit of how many disciples per mission are needed? Edit - Should we assume the limit is only for PC-Disciples and all/most missions also include NPC-Disciples?

Thank you in advance for any answer, even if it's a "You don't know".

1. Do actions. You're more likely to get insights on a failure than a success.

2. You need to meditate to combine 9 insights into an enlightenment. You need at least one enlightenment to breakthrough. More are better. You also need to have tempered all your organs.

3. Some techniques will cost Qi to use. You can gain more qi by meditating on absorbing qi, getting 1 per turn passively, or absorbing spirit stones.

4. Friends do not count. And yes, the limit is for PC disciples. NPC disciple results on missions are governed by the results of the PCs. Which is why elders want you all to do them.

Wu Ji Nin was traversing the sect's compound with measured steps, when his gaze was drawn to a grouping of peers, huddled around the side of a Pavilion. Curious, he moved closer, only to realize they were gathered to discuss one of the many installments of Wuyin's Survival Guide. Not at uncommon sight at all, and indeed, something that Wu Ji Nin himself had done many times in the past. Something that, in all likelihood, he would end up doing again.

A smile blossomed on his face and, after a brief contemplation, he nodded sagely to himself and resolved to seek out his fellow disciple. Upon locating her, he offered a courteous greeting before expressing the purpose of his visit.

"I find myself indebted to the wisdom contained in your guides, Sister Wuyin," he began with sincerity. "The depth of knowledge within them is truly commendable. Learning that you commenced your journey within the sect concurrently with myself only enhances my admiration. I am not only impressed but also profoundly thankful for the guidance you've provided."

With a deliberate motion, Wu Ji Nin withdrew a Peasant Spirit Stone from his pouch, extending it towards Wuyin. "Please accept this token, Sister Wuyin. While its material value may be most modest, it is a humble expression of my gratitude. Rumors have reached my ears suggesting your aspirations in the realms of pill crafting and treasure refinement. I'm not certain they are to be believed, but if this meager offering can contribute even minimally to your endeavors, it would bring me solace and lighten the burden I bear."

Database has been updated up to post 935 (so with the Cultivation Results for Turn 3, but not for the Results for turn 3). Almost done.

Wuyin hands the stone back with a confused look on her face.

"Please don't. Nothing is set in stone, and the nature of the systems at play means that nothing can be solidly planned even a month in advance for us. If you wish to help, I may ask for it in another month, but there will be no guarantees of anything happening. So for now, I'm grateful, but cannot accept."

"YOU DARE-"

Wu Ji Nin smiled understandingly, withdrawing the Spirit Stone with a nod. "I see. Your prudence is noted, Sister Wuyin. Our journeys are indeed unpredictable, and plans can shift like the wind." He put the token back in his pouch. "Just know that the offer remains open, and should the time come when assistance is welcomed, I'll be honored to provide it. "

This Jian Ke has just heard a rumor about the upcoming renovations to the Pagoda of Spirits.

Apparently it will partly be concerned with adding more workspaces, enough for even us outer disciples to have free use, and the workspaces in the pagoda of spirits are of excellent quality, some even say they reach Iron grade, a true boon for any crafter.
