Disciples of Red Dew Sect (Cultivation Riot Quest)

[X] Wanwuyishi de Xin
-[X] Main Action: Attend Elder Jiayi's Lecture
--[X] Attribute Used: Spirit (Copper)

On one hand, giving back to the Barony. Following the dream Wanwuyishi had gradually gained of taking part in effecting positive change upon the many communities he had travelled through while he was with his father. On the other hand, a lecture from an Elder themself! It would be hard to overvalue such an occurrence- to say nothing of the fact that it was an actual request. Rather than a simply bounty or notice of something that needed doing, as so often the case with the other tasks.

Ah, but dreams were meant to be things worked towards, and if he worked on improving upon himself then surely the size and effect of his actions would increase correspondingly! It could very well be that a thrice of what he could dedicate today would equal one of what he could dedicate tomorrow. An investment! This would be an investment into himself! Just as the Red Baron used to invest taxes back into the communities they came from for a better yield in the future, so too would he invest in himself today.

Throughly convinced of his rationalizations, Wanwuyishi set his mind to the upcoming Lecture. Acquiring note-taking supplies would be quite the boon- or locating those that had the foresight to acquire them beforehand if he couldn't in time. A proper greeting (should the opportunity present itself) wouldn't be remiss either. Perhaps "Good to see you!" or would that be too familiar with one of higher station? Ah, it likely would.

Are we sharing rooms our rooms with other disciples by the way?

I'm trying to visualize my character's room

Do we have room to ourselves? Bunk beds?

o.o; Just noticed but the order submission doesn't have Auxiliary anymore. I'm guessing it'll just be Main Action for this turn? @_@?

Yes, you get one action now. And one default cultivation roll.

Are we sharing rooms our rooms with other disciples by the way?

I'm trying to visualize my character's room

Do we have room to ourselves? Bunk beds?

No, everyone has their own room. The sect can easily have mortal carpenters just build more rooms as needed.

Character Sheet
Name: Maggot Gravedirt (Real name lost)
Pronouns: He/Him for Maggot, They/Them for The Soldier
Description:
Emaciated young man, with sacks rather than bags under his eyes from lack of sleep, his hair has gone a disturbing purple from the strange changes his body went through upon the 'symbiosis' procedure.
The Soldier is a masked armored spirit, carrying foreign armor and a broken broadsword. Their voice is echoey and inhuman, difficult to determine who or what The Soldier may have been back in life. They can only be sensed by Maggot because of their bond.
Personality: Left to fend for himself from a young age, Maggot has a lot of shame for having to do terrible things to survive, while also being exceptionally lonely. Constant brow beating and threats by 'The Soldier' has made him feel even worse, turning him into someone eager to please anyone in authority.

Maggot has been alone for as long as he can remember, all he can remember of his parents is their disease ridden corpses in a quarantined house. He was forced to do whatever he could to survive, from begging, to odd jobs, to stealing when he had to, leaving him constantly on the move. Most recently he's taken to the unfortunate career of graverobbing, taking what valuables he can from the deceased to survive. The most valuable rewards being that from deceased cultivators, but those are hard to find as most who die in battle have their valuable taken by the victors, or they die in some area that a normal person would die upon reaching.

But the war/massacre of the Red Dew Baron's forces was an incredible boon, as a battleground filled with dead cultivators would likely have many valuables he could sell. The battleground in question was well picked over, but he found a broken sword hilt that was covered in fine engravings that looked like it could be valuable. However, as he touched the blade he cut himself, leaving a drop of blood on the hilt which awoke a binding in it.

Suddenly a terrifying warrior figure appeared and condemned him for stealing from him. The Soldier then demanded recompense for the boy, who they named Maggot Gravedirt for their lowly stature, or they would end their life there. The boy now known as Maggot promised to do anything, so the spirit used the blood spilt to force a 'symbiotic' connection with him.

This ignited and warped Maggot's core, awakening him as a cultivator, but permanently binding him to The Soldier. The Soldier wanted revenge against the one who'd killed him, but since The Red Dew Baron was deceased, it wanted revenge on the Overlord who ordered the Baron to go to war. To do that it need Maggot to be a stronger vessel, so forced him to march without sleep to the nearest sect - which just so happened to be The Red Dew sect.

Notes: I see this character as a mix of the xianxia trope of an old spirit guiding a young cultivator, combined with the anime Shaman King. The Soldier can possess Maggot to make him fight better, but also wants him to get stronger independently so it doesn't break the body. I don't know what plans you might have had for the force the Red Baron battled, but I tried to keep it vague so it won't interfere with your plans there. I planned that the Elders wouldn't know immediately that this boy is sort of possessed, but I also feel the Red Dew sect might not be that angry if someone wanted to become strong enough to get revenge against the Overlord who ruined their sect.

But let me know if this doesn't work or what I need to change.

What's the sect policy on retirement?

Edit: follow up questions

2: how much sleep to we need?

I'm not fully sold on it. It feels like it would be beyond the abilities of a normal disciple. I'll allow it if the Solider is much weaker. Like it can't actually force Maggot to do anything. It's just a voice right now.

1: How well can we function/fight in the dark?

You owe the sect twenty years of service for taking you in and forming your foundation. After that you can retire if you really want. Usually it's better to stay in the sect. Even an outer disciple is going to have access to more resources than some loos cultivator.

1. Peasant cultivators see a bit better than mortals, but there senses aren't hugely enhanced.

2. You'll be able to function at full capacity for about four days without sleep if you needed to, but 3-4 hours a day is optimal.

There is a storm, far greater than her brewing on the horizon, yet she is still connected to it, as are her fellow Disciples. Together, they may yet be able to weather it... but only if they know it's shape.

That's fine. The most level of 'possession' would be more like giving an order that the body tries to do. For example "MARCH" the body will walk long past exhaustion, before passing out when Maggot reaches the destination. But The Soldier can't give advanced fighting tactics or any extra Qi/Chi for attacks, it's upto Maggot to get strong enough to be useful. Does that work?

Alright Turn 2 actions locked.
Dang missed it.

Hey quick question what action would it be to inspect an item for example if we find an artefact or something like my sword coin?

I'll allow you to do an action this time.

Usually nothing if you just want to see what something does. If it's completely unknown and you have to research it, then just write that in as an action. The ones listed in the mechanics are just examples.

I'll allow you to do an action this time.
Thank you. We only get 1 action right?

[X] Maggot Gravedirt
-[X] Main Action: Attend Elder Jiayi Shiang's Lecture. Try to find out any information about the forces that the Red Dawn Baron lost his life fighting and/or about the Overlord who gave the Baron their marching order.

Yes, 1 action.

Okay then that makes sense what does my sword coin do if anything or is that something I would need to research?

It appears to be a coin. It feels a bit cold to the touch. But doesn't appear to do anything.
