Deep Red (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

Oh my I think I've figured it out.

Its the z after the first letter.

See it's the one constant in all of them.

Azulon Ozai and Azula.

See this cannot be a coincidence, the crazy is activated by the letter z directly after the first letter of the name!

The truth is revealed!
Lu Ten's death was an inside job. He had to go because neither his name or that of his father sounded evil enough.

That's it. Wake up people!

Didnt Azula offer to help Akane off Ozai some time back? Seems like she is probably trying for a surprise Ozai backstab when he got his back to 'loyal' Azula. Or she did indeed attack Ozai. Shrug. We'll see I guess.

I liked the part with Iroh best uncle.

The chat played itself so hard this time.

Kosm repeatedly said Ozai hates when we spend time with Iroh.
Chat: Lets spend some time with Iroh! what could go wrong?

Kosm repeatedly said that Ozai can steamroll us.
Chat: Lets insult and threaten him!what could go wrong?

Kosm repeatedly said that Azula respects Ozai. And is still sociopath.
Chat: Lets trust Azula not to burn us! what could go wrong?

Hate to sound like Ozai but why everyone are so naive? Just burn Azulas leg or something, she will understand.
fucking "My will is my sun". Argh, thats why i hate quests. Atleast Kosm is not scared to call people on their bullshit.

Honestly?
I cannot disagree stronger.

Ozai was trying for the longest time to put Akane on a slippery slope, probably the same one which led him to be the crazy bastard he is.
This came to a head now.

And if not training with Iroh, it would have been something else. Ozai was looking for any pretext to push Akane over the line for a long time now.

He wanted for Akane to finally break, and burning Azula would be exactly that.
Akane already bent as far as was feasible, any more and she would not be the person with the same principles.

To finally call things by name to Ozai's face was utterly cathartic as well.

If Azula attacked Akane and it left a scar, their relationship probably never recovers. Akane is downright obsessed with her perfect appearance. On the other hand, it'll be good for her to break this obsession.
She's that vain?
I felt Azula would in her way badly wound Akane in order to stop her from being kill by Ozai, with the lines crossed we would be exile with Iroh instead of Zuko....maybe with the loss of our bending considering Ozai's dark nature.

He's not an energy bender.

But, still if he tries to exile us we should hopefully be able to launch the coup against the commander in idiocy.

Im just a guy who thinks that standing your ground in front of freight train is a bad idea.
And thats how i see Ozai - freight train. You can dodge, you can ride along, you can sabotage the train tracks ahead but dont stand in front of it.

I guess you see survival as overcoming your demons and i see survival as avoiding your demons.

Im cool with it now, just was pissed about it after session.

Yeah, with everything that she sees as going wrong in her life she feels she has to be perfect, not just in appearance but in behaviour/how she comports herself, training etc.

Though, I have to say I disagree that the questers made the wrong choices here. If after all this, Akane had actually submitted to Ozai's wishes, rather than bending to follow the word instead of the spirit as she's been doing a lot so far I could honestly see it breaking something inside her.

Like, even ignoring that last spar I genuinely felt for her when she was laughing with Iroh over stories about Lu Ten, only to get dragged off by her own Father.

True but Akane have be punished for her defiance, I think he's the type that would strip Akane of her title, power, progress and exile her from his sight. Only hope Mitsuko is visiting her father at the moment.

Honestly the one thing that pisses me off here is the comment about Ozai being like Azulon because it's exactly the same as the letter, an attempt to spite Ozai gone horribly wrong and ends up hurting the ones you were trying to protect in the first place. That is the thing that crossed the line.
"You sound like Azulon," you tell him softly.

Father's expression doesn't contort with rage this time. There's anger there, but it's a different sort.

You think you just crossed a line.

I see your point, just this train has targeting electronics.
Akane dodged it as many times as was possible, and now Ozai forced the issue.

It was standing tall or breaking.

And Final Fantasy taught us how the duel of martial artist against a train goes:

That's not necessarily a bad thing, we'd be out of his sight, out from under his thumb.

Getting out into the world, mastering our bending away from him, being free to be with our love (if she decides to come along) and I get the feeling that after this no matter how it ends we're going to want to remove Ozai, so we may even be able to team up with Aang and the gang.

Even better if we were to get exiled along with Zuko and Iroh, we'll have an excellent teacher on hand and can make amends with him at the same time :D

I disagree, actually. I think it's exactly the opposite of the letter. Akane deliberately insulted him and took his mind completely off of Azula, getting all of his attention for herself instead.

Should have pretended they were going to kill Azula ("I should destroy my enemies, not just injure them" or something) with Lightning. That might have let them get a first hit on an unsuspecting Ozai who doesn't know Lightning Redirection.

"Whoops, training accident" would be believable to literally everyone with the ridiculous approach Ozai takes to Lightning training.

I just really hope that whatever happens does not leave her with any scars. The Not!Scar on her wrist already sets her off for something inconsequental.

Seriously wouldn't be good for her psyche.

A few bits of extra info from Kosm in the chat, spoilers about what's ahead.

if we hit the capstone to the conflict between you and ozai right here, he'd literally just kill you. you cannot beat ozai as you are right now

if he banished you, he'd assume that you'd just retaliate by exposing 'his' assassination of Azulon and putting Iroh on the throne

If someone can only win when the others burned, I was half hoping Akane would make a flame, Ozai being pleased, then holding her other arm over the flame and burning herself.

"Azula wins."

Would have been chosing family over perfection too, which would have been interesting.

Well, I'll just have to hope Ozai gets a shock next update. You know. Cause lightning. All the lightning.

You should remove the links, i think it is against SV's rules to link to nsfw pages.

Interesting info.

I must admit I thought Akane would have had at least a chance.

Honestly, I think Ozai might end with a twisted pride of us over this, even if only after (much after) he calms down and the sting of it goes away.

And definitely, if Azula is attacking us, she's probably trying to save our life by doing so. She really is best little sister.

That would be pretty great, but a bit too late for it now.
