Aww, and I'm assuming Puerum Magi won't exist; welp wonder what Kyousuke's role into all this; probably casualty

Well, if we don't head up his recovery before Sayaka learns about meguca, he'll serve his role as intended. Otherwise, he'll just kind of... Be there, unless we choose to interact with him. He's not really part of Homura's story so long as he isn't causing Sayaka to become meguca or divert her down the path to witchdom because of Hitomi drama.

Ah Yes. The great cucking of 2011
Casualty: Sayaka's Sanity

Homura in canon series = Playing Dark Souls blindfolded while your neighbor blasts shitty music at 0300
Homura in SVS timeline = Playing Metroid Prime 2 (Gamecube version) on the hardest difficulty for the first time

Sayaka won't be witching out if smart players have their say in things.

Wait. If the house and the school are both always safe does that mean we can cheese against Walpurgisnacht by shooting it from there?

No. There is no safe zone when Walpurgisnacht arrives. Maybe I should have added the qualifying statement "Until the morning of 1 May" when I said that home and school are always safe.

Well. Bravely running away? Excali-poking the bastard?

Um, wouldn't you know who's the Baesaber servant is?

Don't call the Saber servant Baeber, Astra. That's highly disrespectful.

And yes, I do know the identities of both the master and servant of Saber. And I do know whether or not that is something they can do. But I'm not going to simply give you the answer. You, and all the other players, will have to make the right decisions if you wish to find out the answer.

So... any chance Bluebeard coming? We might get some COOL! things

The short answer is no. There will be no COOL in this quest, unless Oriko goes off the deep end. The long answer is, well...

According to the Type-Moon wiki, Gilles de Rais can be summoned under the following classes: Saber, Caster, Rider, Lancer, and Berserker.
Saber is a possible, but if he's summoned as a Saber he won't be COOL because he won't have gone insane quite yet.
Caster, Rider, and Lancer are all right out because those classes have already been summoned.
Berserker is another possible, but in the event of Berserker Gilles I'd suggest looking at his portrayal in Drifters to get an idea of how he'd behave.

So, the long answer is still no.

So totally putting 'Drive Oriko Insane' on the to do list

... so what you're saying is to tell Madoka and Sayaka everything, and then social them at our apartment for 1.5 months straight, only stopping to transport them to and from school via teleportation from somewhere (or at minimum, timestop at Servant-level speed courtesy of Archer), and tell their parents that it's the biggest sleepover ever. Meanwhile, insist that all meetings and training with Mami or anyone else must happen at our house. And use Archer and Caster to do a scry-and-die at anything vaguely threatening from inside the radius of our house. And then Witch-out for superpowers because let's be real, that all comes together to basically be Homura's Labyrinth anyway, so at least if it was our actual Barrier we'd have the bigger-on-the-inside to play around with during training.

Clearly the best plan. Clearly. Absolutely no way that this could even remotely go wrong. Best plan.

Day 4 Chapter 10
[x] Walk home with Madoka, Sayaka, and Hitomi. You've vanished on them too many times in too few days; they need to know that you're doing alright
-[x] Tomoe Mami hasn't contacted you with news about Kirika that you'd need to address yet, and you need to keep up appearances. Besides, there's the vague hope that if she sees your frequent association with Madoka and Sayaka, she'll be willing to defer to you on the subject of their (never) becoming magical girls, if it comes to that.
[x] Preemptively contact Mami via telepathy as you set out to walk home with Madoka, Sayaka, and Hitomi; ask if she'll have time to meet with you for magic training and Oriko-meeting-strategy later in the evening, after you have time to stop at home. You... don't know how you feel about possibly associating with her at school, particularly not where Madoka might come to notice and wonder what you're up to- in fact, you definitely don't want to draw Madoka's attention to your association with Mami and lead her to ask questions about it- but you do need to talk to her.
-[x] Besides, it would be... conspicuous to walk back with Mami too often. The walk to her home is in nearly the opposite direction of where you actually live, and you don't have a particularly good excuse as to why you'd be heading that way.

"Homura-chan! Are you going to walk with us today?" Madoka asks. You know you shouldn't; there's probably more you and Tomoe-san could plan for, and she had said that she would help you learn to use your magic to enchant your firearms, to maybe bring them back to a point where they could harm witches. On top of which, you doubt you can safely remain in close proximity to Madoka after Archer's relentless teasing.

Still, you've vanished on her too many times now in too short a time frame, and it's clear that she's begun to worry for you. So, against your better judgement, you smile and respond with "Of course, Madoka."

"I'm glad, Homura-chan."

Still, you need to check in with Tomoe-san, so as you and Madoka ready to depart, you ping her. "Have you heard anything from Kure Kirika?"

You hear no response for several seconds, worrying you, until Tomoe-san responds. "I apologize for the delay, Akemi-san. I asked Kure-san whether or not Mikuni-san had responded to her, but she merely shrugged me off, and said 'We'll contact you'."

"I see... Thank you anyway, Tomoe-san. Keep me informed."

"Of course. Have fun on your date tomorrow."

Tomoe-san's mention of your date once more transforms you into the red cabbage, causing Madoka to giggle as she wraps her arms around you. "Homura-chan is cute when she's blushing." Madoka. Madoka please. Madoka stop. Madoka keep going. Your heart is going to explode if Madoka keeps overloading you with her cuteness.

"What'cha thinking about, eh transfer student?" You aren't sure whether to glare at Sayaka, tell her off, or remain quiet. She has provided you with unusual levity in this timeline, but... She is still Miki Sayaka, and that comes with its own set of problems. Many of them worse than others.

"Nothing," you blurt out, strongly against informing her of your desires for tomorrow or Archer's teasing. "Er, I mean, nothing all that interesting."

Your answer seems to be enough to satisfy Sayaka. She shrugs, and with a "Whatever. Come on, let's go home already!" she sets off ahead of you and the others. Hitomi says nothing, glancing between Sayaka, yourself, and Madoka. You can see a deep blush forming on her cheeks as she spares a second glance at you and Madoka but still she says nothing, possibly against her own better judgement. With a shrug of her own she sets off after the bluenette.

"Come on, Homura-chan! Let's go!" And then, side-by-side, you and Madoka walk home after them.

Well, I'm not going to tell you whether or not a plan will work until it's actually post time, but what I will say is that you should carefully weight Sayaka's involvement in all of this. Can you chance her becoming a meguca, and thus chance her becoming a witch, for the potential gains presented by her servant?

Because Homura probably wants some time spent not flailing around in social, and quietly happy with friends is the good.

Well, I'm not going to tell you whether or not a plan will work until it's actually post time, but what I will say is that you should carefully weight Sayaka's involvement in all of this. I mean, I vote for trying to keep her out of it until it looks like something is going to try and drag her in, then lay absolutely everything on the table to convince her and Madoka to maybe not meguca themselves. Powerful Servant may be powerful, but unless Sayaka goes in knowing what's what, and contracts for something she's not going to be on the angst train later about, that's just a recipe for dead Daves everywhere, I reckon. And there's already quite enough of those, I think.

True, obviously, but you know the kind of baka Sayaka can be.

Day 4 Chapter 11
[x] Enjoy Madoka's company while your friends talk amongst themselves, only speaking when spoken to

The walk home is, in the company of friends - your friends - just as comforting as the walk to school. The March sun is setting early, casting its golden glow over the city skyline. It... You never noticed before how beautiful Mitakihara could look from down on the ground.

Sayaka and Hitomi talk among themselves - thankfully not about Kamijou Kyousuke this time - as you and Madoka walk together. You aren't touching, but you can still feel the warmth of her body as she walks beside you. A part of you wants to speak with her, to break this silence just for the chance to hear her voice again, but you refrain. You aren't even sure what you could say to her this time around. You've used up most of your basic conversation options, and you can't tell her about your loops...

The four of you cross the bridge, and Hitomi turns right at the big intersection. Miki Sayaka, however, does not turn left. You can already guess why.

"Sayaka, I thought you lived that way," you say, pointing down the left path towards her house that you always see her emerge from on the way to school. "Was I mistaken?"

"Nope! I'm going to the hospital today to see my Kyousuke!" she proudly proclaims, taking a wide, dramatic stance as she plants her hands on her hips. "I haven't seen him in awhile, so I thought today would be the perfect day to make sure he's getting better!"

You don't need to ask, but for the sake of appearances you do so anyway. "Kyousuke... You've mentioned him before. Who is he, and why is he in the hospital?"

"Oh, Kyousuke is simply the best!" That can hardly be considered an adequate answer. You want to glare at Sayaka, and you're sure in another timeline you probably did.

Fortunately, Madoka comes to your aid. Rather, from her perspective it would be aid. But you already know the answer. "Kyousuke-kun is Sayaka-chan's friend. He plays the violin, but he was in an accident awhile back and hasn't been able to play since. She's been visiting him in the hospital regularly ever since."

"The doctors keep saying that there's been no change to his condition, but today's the day, I'm sure of it! Today's the day they'll say he can play again!"

No, Miki Sayaka, today is not the day. And it will never be the day, not until the day comes when you sell your soul to a painful damnation for the power to heal him. Please, give up on Kamijou Kyousuke. Nothing good ever comes from your involvement with him. "I... I see," is all you can say. You know his fate, and you know he will never recover, and yet... This Sayaka is still foolish, but she hasn't done anything yet to harm you or Madoka... Maybe you can muster the energy to be supportive of her, the way she's been supportive of you thus far. "It's terribly lonely to be stuck in a hospital by yourself. I'm sure he appreciates that you take the time to visit him. I... Wish him well, from one hospital veteran to another, would you?"

Sayaka flashes you a toothy smile and gives you a thumbs-up. "Sure thing, Homura! With your help, Kyousuke will be back on his feet playing again in no time, I'm sure of it!"

You haven't done anything yet, but... It feels good, knowing that your words will bring comfort to another, even if that person isn't Madoka.

The three of you continue to walk, until at last you come to the big intersection before the train tracks. Madoka turns to depart, but you can tell that she doesn't want to. "Homura-chan..." You've seen that look before. She's nervous, and you don't know why. "I was thinking... Since we're going out tomorrow, would you... Would you maybe want to stay the night at my house?" You don't have an answer. You want to have time to practice your Projections, but... But Madoka... "Or, if that's not good for you, maybe... Maybe I could stay with you? Ah- I mean, only if that's okay with you!"

Sayaka gives you a nudge with her shoulder, and you can practically hear her saying "There's your opening, transfer student. She wants you just as much as you want her" but there is only silence. No obnoxious commentary from Miki Sayaka. Just you, two of your three friends, and the gentle breeze that accompanies the setting sun.

Do you
[ ] Stay the night with Madoka. A night spent in the company of a complete family will do you wonders

Day 4 Chapter 12
[X] stay the night at Madoka's

At Madoka's inquiry, Sayaka gives you a nudge with her shoulder, and you can practically hear her obnoxious commentary telling you to seize the opportunity you've been given. You aren't sure which choice before you is the correct one. You have only a limited number of days in which to master Projection magecraft before Walpurgisnacht arrives. But, you also have only a limited number of days in which to spend time with Madoka. Whether you choose to ignore Madoka's request in favour of studying the magecraft that will enable you to save her, or choose to ignore your studies in favour of spending time with the girl you've been fighting to save.

The only difference between the two is that Walpurgisnacht isn't before you at the moment, but Madoka most certainly is. In light of that fact, the choice is clear to you. Offering Madoka a smile, you respond with "If it's alright with your parents, I'd be happy to spend the night with you."

You still aren't sure if you've made the correct choice, but seeing Madoka's beaming smile as she chirps "Really? Of course it's okay, Homura-chan!" you know you've made the right choice.

"Well, I guess I'll see you two lovebirds on Monday," Sayaka said, immediately sensing her rapidly-approaching third wheel status. You've become the red cabbage again, and you can see that Madoka has become one as well. "I've got a hot date of my own, so I"ll see you two around."

As Sayaka took off running towards the hospital, she shouted back one last message "Oh and Madoka! Don't forget to make me the maid of honour at you two's wedding, 'kay?" Oh, that Miki Sayaka, always getting too far ahead of herself for her own good. Even when she's not being the troublesome idiot you've always known her to be, she still manages to find a way to infuriate you. That she runs away loudly humming the bridal chorus from Wagner's Lohengrin only serves to infuriate you even further.

How could it not, when you know that day will never come?

It's just the two of you now, Madoka and yourself, walking side-by-side towards her house. For her this walk is merely the prelude to tomorrow, but to you this walk is a painful reminder of days you've lost so very long ago. "Sayaka-chan sure has an active imagination, doesn't she, Homura-chan?"

Madoka's words tear you from your painful ruminations. She's wearing a soft smile on her face, and you can't help but be compelled to return one of your own as you reply "Yes, she certainly does. We're both far too young to be thinking about marriage." You choose not to mention the other flaw in Sayaka's active imagination. You've known Madoka almost as long as you've been alive; but to her, you're only someone that entered her life a few days ago.

The two of you finish your walk in silence. You're perfectly content with that. You don't need words anymore; just being near Madoka is enough for you.

As the two of you approach Madoka's house, you find that you can sense the presence of your servant. Archer must be standing watch over Madoka's house. You wish you had some way to repay him for the kindness he's shown to you. "If you really want to repay me, then wipe away your tears and promise me that you'll have fun on your date tomorrow." His words echo in your mind, and you turn to face the location where his presence is strongest, silently mouthing "I will, I promise."

Kaname Junko welcomes you with open arms as Madoka opens the door. "Homura! Good to see you again, girl! Come in, come in, Tomo's just getting started on dinner. Is a pork stir-fry alright with you?"

You nod, replying with "Pork stir-fry sounds wonderful, thank you Kaname-san."

Wonderful is an understatement when it comes to the culinary skill displayed by Kaname Tomohisa. The tender pork practically melts in your mouth as you take your first bite, leaving your taste buds flooded with the flavour of the sweet-and-sour sauce that the meat has been lightly glazed in. How long has it been since you've had his cooking? You can't remember, but it's been long enough that you can't help but shed a tear for those fading memories.

"Homura-chan, what's wrong?"

"This food... I haven't tasted anything cooked with this much love in so long..."

"Well Tomo, looks like you've just earned yourself another fan!" Junko exclaims, reaching across the table to high-five her husband, a gesture he eagerly reciprocates. Tatsuya raises his own hand in mimicry of his parents, and Junko gives him one as well.

Moments like these, the times when Madoka is allowed to be a normal girl enjoying life with her family... These are the moments you've been fighting for, and to be a part of them after so long... You can't remember the last time that you felt as though your trials have been worth it; but right now, you feel that it's all been worth it to see Madoka smiling with her family.

And when you smile for this moment, it isn't one you've forced yourself to wear for the benefit of another.

[X] Change perspectives to Archer

Add more GAR!
(Not really)

Well, you never know. I'm fairly certain that I'd write Tomohisa as bi were I given the opportunity to delve into his younger years, and we've got two other male servants who, depending on how you squint, may not have a problem being GAR for another dude.

Actually, no, probably not. There's a chance someone might be GAR for Archer, but there's no way Archer's GAR for anyone else.

You do know that I mean badassery right?

Perhaps that's just my age showing, as I still remember a time when GAR was simply some poor fool's spelling mistake rather than a meme honouring his badassery. In that case, yes, there will be plenty of upcoming opportunities for Archer to display his badassitude.
