Come for the Raifus, Stay for the Plot: Girls' Frontline - Baking Time

I'm UTC here, which means I can accidentally catch the "midnight" day change if I happen to log in early enough in the morning. Seems to actually be happening around ~9am for me if that helps narrow things down re: DST.

So how do you actually progress in this game? Leveling up doesn't seem to do anything by itself, and I'm constantly lacking in fodder to enhance even one team, let alone two.

Run battles. Delet robutts. Constantly run battles.

Are there any particularly good battles to run in the first couple of chapters? The problem I have with battles is that I send in my one good team which eats through my rations and ammo, or I send in bad team(s) which eats rations, ammo, and then I need to repair them after.

Autobattle can help get a team up to basic competence / feeding them XP reports to get them to 10 for the first dummy link. That or just swapping one gun out to level up another

Beyond that feeding dupe guns is how most stat ups go, although I think levels give a bit of HP.

You can also 'pocket grind' the XP Combat Simulator. Since it's a flat quantity of XP divided evenly amongst all participants, and it doesn't matter if they "die" or not, you can pretty much just build a team of peeps to level up with the minimum total CE to clear it and run it with them.

Equally, if you're finding yourself with a top-heavy 'this kills everything' team, break it up a little and distribute it amongst your other echelons.

For resources, just throw your spare teams at the logistics missions when they aren't doing anything else, that's what I've been doing. Particularly if it's got a member on a long repair; just swap the repairing tdoll out for a dupe or something and send the rest of them off on a logistics.

Also I love how the retirement screen and dummy core description are "Can only be given up willingly" "Please prepare resumes"

Devs trying to avoid the ethical thing seen in botes of "produce / summon sentient warships, feed into grinder for parts" Now it's only mass producing sentient androids for combat and then stripping them of their purpose and throwing them into a civilian life they are woefully unprepared for

The 5*s I've managed to build are a Thompson SMG and a NTW-20 Rifle. Not too sure how good either of them are.

I've picked up a bunch of 5*, including a couple of 5* Handguns today as well as 3 copies of HK416 over the last week.

Of course, the downside is that I'm perpetually short on resources, but on the upside, it's scratching that itch to roll on other gatcha games.

Use the enhancement pills once they're at around level 30 or so because this is when they get their third dummy link.

Besides that, there's also doing research on the dolls to improve their skills.

Once you've got a blue gun at x3, that's also when you should start feeding dupes into a grinder for cores, as you dont get x4/5 until 70 or 90 and cores are somewhat important for feeding to your 4/5*s. Of course, you should probably keep dupes of 4*+s as harder to get and bigger core costs, but blues are common enough you can just get dupes near the end of the level grind

Grizzly is worth keeping. I've been trawling for rare pistols to get cores and actually had her drop twice, so now she's 2x for free \o/

Current 5*s are FAL, Grizzly x2, NTW-20 and Vector. Jury's out on FAL and NTW because I only got them recently and have no cores ever.
After that at 4* it's M1918, the Plot Squad (M4A1 etc) SVD, Springfield and MP5.

So far I've been finding one of the most important characters are the MGs, because they can seriously whittle down the horde before they even get a chance to attack you (reducing the amount of fire you'll take). My highlevel murdersquad sits at >6k CE with two 50+ MGs, my two best SMGs and a pistol in the middle. It's pretty much built around the MGs murdering everything every n seconds. ARs are good at finishing off stragglers and I haven't yet wholly figured out how to leverage my army of bajillion rifles effectively yet.

I'd been worried about the gameplay boiling down to nothing but 'do I turn auto-skill on immediately or not' but it's getting a lot more interesting now I'm in Chapter 4 and you get things like the artillery bot that forces you to shift your formation around. Add in a few skills that really need to be manually activated, and the fun-if-dangerous game of 'when do I withdraw my SMGs to kite?' and its getting a lot more interesting.

oh and I still don't have any AP ammo.

EDIT: GRIZZLY JUST DROPPED FOR THE THIRD TIME AND I STILL HAVE NO AP WHAT IS MY LUCK DOING

My current team is Fal, M14, Sten and Skorp all in low 60's with M4A1 being nearly 50. In my experience I have found that MGs burn through way too much ammo in the early game. RFs target the back-line I'm pretty sure so they help with taking out those annoying snipers. I've just been farming 4-3e for days now and haven't progressed much further beyond that. I really wish I had gotten an UMP over Thompson though.

UID is 42319 if anyone wants to add me.

Running a AR3/SMG2 team at 7k CE on my support.

Still building my RF3/HG1/SMG1 Night team though.

I have, in the three days I've played, gotten more Grizzlies (two) than IDW (one) out of the 1:10 craft.

I am reasonably sure people will flay and eat me for this at some point.

That... mirrors my experience as well, tbh. Three Grizzlies to 1 IDW.

The worst part of rolling IDW from the factory remains not being able to cut off her intro spiel the way you can from a mission drop. I swear they made that one as obnoxiously irritating as possible.
