Come for the Raifus, Stay for the Plot: Girls' Frontline - Baking Time

For anyone who wants to kill the Striders in ranking:

M200, Carcano, Gr Mk23, Grizzly, and P22 if you have her (buy her from the shop, throw Cores and Combat Reports at her, don't worry about her skill level). You'll also want the Taunt Fairy.

Basically, pile all the damage buffs you have on hand onto M200 and Carcano, and watch the Strider melt.

So you're saying it's M200 All the Way? Got it.

I should sit down and work out the full lyrics to my 82'nd All the Way spoof, shouldn't I? Ought to be good for a laugh at least.

You can also blast them with the Griffon Rail Gun. Note that formation can now include Type 88 Mod3 instead of IWS if you don't have her or are using her elsewhere.

It Double Jupiter, yes.

Unrelated note, what the hell? Why is hard mode ranking Gustav unkillable?

I've got a 3 star parachute fairy with the Fevor talent(for all that it ever activates) to drop this team right on top of the damn train, but I cannot kill the bottom gun. Even the one time I did the supposedly less dangerous top killed me. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not crazy right? This should work.

That team definitely looks like it should work with the para debuff. Have you been retargeting to hit the side guns first? And were your MGs getting hit by the side guns? The cannon does approximately a dummy's worth of HP (maybe less?), so it's safest to leave the MGs in the middle and suicide your HGs into the front row until the side guns are gone. Not sure about the 'less-dangerous top' though, both side guns have the same stats to the best of my knowledge.

Knowing that both guns need to die does help, I'd been retargeting whenever they weren't shooting the bottom gun. But I have been good about moving up the pistols, so I don't know what's going wrong there. Ugh, this thing is nuts.

I did it with a 2* parachute fairy (w/o fervor) under para debuff, but it was extremely rough for me. Probably reset 8+ times to get the proper targeting of the side guns by my MGs ;-;
If you have a MOD2 Nagant revolver, she's pretty helpful in reducing the damage taken from the railgun & MG turrets while providing decent buffs. M1895CB is used for the huge initial 30+ round damage burst + FP boost from being an advantaged doll.

Top priority is downing the side turrets, your MGs pretty much have to eat railgun shots, while you juggle your HGs around tanking the MG turrets, until both side turrets are down and its safe to move forward.

you know what pisses me off the most about this stupid gimmicky bullshit bullet hell minigame that isn't why I play GFL in the first place?

it's not even a good bullet hell game.

On normal it wasn't too bad but on hard I had to pause the game to have enough time to pick the right ability and get back to dodging. If it was just dodging I think all the bullet hells would be better.

This was the first event in which i completed entirely on EX. Except the bullet hell map cause fuck bullet. Main reason why I never finished Undertale

I killed Gustav!

But the second Isomer Boss wouldn't spawn, so last turn I had to kill the little Isomer so I could capture the supply node and heavy transport pad. No idea why she wouldn't spawn, the first one did, as did all the Smashers. Sadly couldn't kill the third one of those, was the last turn and it attacked the wrong team. Still, everything else went well and I'm happy with this score.

Well thank god I'm done with ranking. Made a lot of mistakes that cost me points but I'm just glad it's over for me besides the last day of crate farming.

It's the Smasher's fault, from the sounds of it. Smasher and Isomer bosses can't spawn on the same turn for some reason, so since the first Smasher and the second Isomer both spawn at the 30-kill mark, you can only get one of them. No idea why that's the spawn logic, but it means if you want both Isomer bosses you can only spawn the 2nd & 3rd Smashers.

Purely for curiosity's sake, what determines which boss I get? Because there doesn't seem to be any way of picking one or the other. I guess I could cap all the zombie spawns, but I'm pretty sure I'd lose points doing it that way. A boss and a map objective aren't worth losing that many zombies every turn.

I'm not actually certain, but I believe that the order of heliport spawns means that the ELIDs will spawn before the lower paradeus heliports and thus the Smasher would always spawn before the Isomer can, similarly to how the KCCO armor-spawn helipad always spawns moves before the unarmored helipads do. I don't actually know the map mechanics in enough detail to say this for certain, though. The best way to avoid the first smasher spawn is simply to leave the ELID heliports clogged (having units already on them) since spawns happen before movement and units can't spawn on occupied helipads. Generally this means just leaving the ELID zone blocked by rubble until you've spawned both Isomer bosses, then opening & fighting ELID for the remaining two Smashers. This works for points, since Isomer is worth significantly more than the Smasher (15.4k points vs 8.3k points going off CE value, but bosses are generally worth more than their pure CE score), and ELID mobs are worth the least of all enemies on the map (since higher CE = more points, and ELIDs have the lowest CE of the 3 factions), so you'd want to prioritize killing Paradeus and KCCO first anyways. The M4 spawn adds another 15k points on top of that, and is another unit you can use as a link in unit-swapping congo chains to save AP on movement.
Also it means you don't need to bully that poor harmless Abandoned Isomer on the supply node.

Dumb question, but how long does a ranking attempt usually take?

You can post a score to get participation rewards by clicking "score settlement" to end your run at the end of your first turn. I got 200,000 points on EX that way when I accidentally wasted action points after I failed to notice that my grenade HOC couldn't one-shot the artillery emplacements like they could on normal. I blew up 2 of the artilleries and ended the run without combat.

A full run on normal took me ~2 hours, EX might take a bit longer. It's definitely too late for a full run now, but if you haven't started yet you could at least post a score to get some gems from the participation reward.

Edit: An unrelated question, what was the best way to deal with the dog/archer and dog/scattershot formations on EX? The dog/archer tore up my normal AR/SMG formations horribly on EX even with a HOC blasting the archers before my ARs finished the dogs. I was going to use RFB to deal with them from there on, but I forgot that one of the heliports spawns dog/scattershot groups instead of dog/archer groups, so her echelon got torn up by them. RFB and K2 were always attacking different targets, so they didn't clear out the hordes of dogs that formation has quickly enough.

It's kind of funny how Paradeus's flashy units were mostly just free points, even on EX (well all the ones I faced in my short attempt at EX). M200 and Grape just wiped them out. Except for the boss, especially the second time she spawned.
