I am pretty sure anyone can tell that negatives in something is not what a golden age can withstand. Keep in mind if the golden age ends and all those options we could have chosen go away, so too does the temple option. As these are given during the midturns of golden ages.
If we pick Magic and if the Golden Age ends, why not just... build up our stars again until we hit whatever threshold there is to unlock Golden Age again? Seeing as apparently we have all the time in the world, we can just build up again.

Also not "A magic boost" it's just plain unlocking the magic system. And when magic exists you know other civs will be all over that like a diabetic needs insulin. I want to be ahead of the curve.

Vote for Magic, a better world for all of us.

We dont unlock a system. We get a specific type of magic for one of the goddesses. The blessing that is our blood could be called magic. We already know magic exists (first contact with foresters). And saying that "we can get it next golden age" is the same as the "we can do it next turn" argument you hate so much. Also, we got a golden age after being at peace after generations of conflict. If that's the cost of a golden age, I'd rather we just enjoy this one for as long as possible before ever going through that again. The same advantages for magic can be said for tech. Once again. The only difference is we could get both if we go tech first vs just magic if we do it first. It isnt a matter of preference it's a matter of us literally not having the stat resources for it.

*sigh* This is why I didn't want the setting to be Low Fantasy in the first place. People get way too concentrated on gods and magic.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the threshold for a Golden Age is some combination high or max(?) stats plus maybe peace, or just general contentness.

Also if the thread represents opinion of the people in game, they must be having some uh, very spirited arguements.

This debate has been fun, by the by, I enjoy debating like this.

[X] Gain random social concepts. (-1 Temp Diplo, -1 Temp Econ, -1 Temp Culture, -1 Temp Mystic)

This seems good for a Theocracy, temple-megaproject seems fun too, but first cover passives before you go for actives.

Trust me, we would've done the same even in a no magic setting.

Players get attached to their hero-units and wish to see them immortalised as Gods, and once the religion is formed SV will naturally want it to take over the world because we can't stand being second best.

I strongly suspect, though don't have evidence, that there's also a cooldown.

There isn't a cooldown per say, but it does take time to start up a Golden Age so that would be a break between Golden Ages simply because you need to take some time to meet the Golden Age requirements to start up the new one once the old one has ended.

It is a lot harder to enter a Golden Age than it is to keep one going or to end one.

How many do we need to have inorder to get a legacy out of it?

I'm afraid that is one of those things that you'll find out when it happens. Legacies are one of those things that I'm not going to tell you how to get them or what is required for them until you have met those requirements or they are no longer relevant.

@Oshha after this GA is over will we know the requirements for starting/ending one, since we've experienced both sides of the coin?

Hm. If we chose to gain a random value, would it be truly random, or based on how our civ has acted in the past, just without choice on our part?

I think you misunderstand what I meant by random. The random part would be which Value got upgraded as I would roll a dice to see which of the Values would have been upgraded. The nature of upgrade would have been depended on the actions of the civ and which Value was getting upgraded.

[] Gain a random Value. (-2 Temp Diplo, -2 Temp Culture)
I was talking about this choice.
[] Upgrade a random Value. (-2 Temp Diplo, -2 Temp Culture)
e: As opposed to this one

Whoops. Sorry about that.

But yes, it would have been based on past choices and actions by the civ.

No update tonight because I just realised it is 2 in the morning and I really ought to be in bed.

We really need to send some sort of scouting expedition down south to see how things have changed. Sooner or later somebody's going to follow the rivers to the end, and we aren't going to like being surprised.

Wow the zealots aren't doing all that bad and have been holding their own.
Freak folk be doing their own thing.
WE NEED TO COLONIZE UPRIVER PLAINS REEEEEEEEEE (inland in general plz)
I don't think SV has the incentive to go for the flying creatures considering inland= oh no scary people we can't go there guys.
tfw most of forester controlled land isn't even forests.
rip lowlander tribes, either got assimilated or genocided.
