[x] The second option. (Ends the fighting, -2 Temp Econ, -1 Stability, +1 Diplo Hero)

If we let their hero go, she'll gain them allies and become a problem again.

Be it peace or war, we don't want a stronger neighbor.

The price is worth it. Take their strength, make it ours. Continue the age of heroes.

Most if not all of the people who raided us are dead tho.

Their descendants have spent their lives getting attacked by us even, only fighting on in fear of their powerful leader

All of them are dead at this point. All of the original raiders have died one way or another as have most of the raiders from latter attacks. You could probably count the number of living Sea Hunters who have attacked one of the People's villages on your hands at this point.

Most of the Sea Hunters hate the Curan's guts for the war he started, but couldn't do anything about it because they needed him to win the battles. Curan started the war for glory, thinking the People would be pushovers and unable to fight back and while he was correct at first, he underestimated how quickly that would stop being the case and the odds would turn against him.

Heck, things did go well for him at first. He mostly won the first raid and got glory and some really nice wives out of it. Then things progressively went downhill for him after that.

Still some kind of write-in along the lines of give us our people's descendants back or we slaughter you all to the man. Is more of what i want here cause we are now winning. We hold all the cards we dont owe them shit.

That would be the third option.

@Oshha Why do we lost a stability for ending the war?

First option costs you stability because elements of the People would be unhappy over the Sea Hunters getting away with their crimes. The second option costs you stability from integrating foreigners who have never lived amongst the People and whose only interactions with the People is a relative or two in a Sea Hunter village or the war with the People.

I'm going to assume it's because there are those who have lost people in the war and don't want it to end.
Probably also the grumbling from integrating the People who grew up Not People and also giving the hated raiders lots of food.

Actually, the People are okay with ending the war if they win it, which getting the stolen People back or in this case, their descendants. The stability comes from ending the war without winning it (the first option) or the Sea Hunters descended from the People having to integrated into a foreign society that they spent their entire lifetimes at war with.

I would also like to take this moment to recommend we send a trade mission to the "Freak Folk" next turn.
Diplo Hero will help us ensure that it goes well (mostly), we can find out what they are all about, and get some news on the Forest F&*%er situation.
Combo it with a Venerate and we can maybe preach the glory to them while we are at it.

So @Oshha how bad is going down to 1/3 stability or is it a wait and find out kinda thing again?

Man I want to assimilate them. Hopefully though, our new Diplo Hero will be able to do that next turn. She's the chieftain of their tribe now, or effectively so from what we've seen. Doing this should reinforce the idea that we are the superior society to them, and well, all of our People who grew up their have connections now. Hopefully that means trade and the like. Would be very nice to have all those extra villages, with a people that are apparently good at naval stuff. Might have additional maps of other places we can learn from too.

Actually our religion is that of acceptance and they are descendants of people.
It probably the food.

The food is actually irrelevant from the perspective of the People. The People have never wanted for food and giving up some food for winning the war is obviously the right choice in the eyes of the People, especially when the alternative way of winning the war means getting more of the People killed.

So @Oshha how bad is going down to 1/3 stability or is it a wait and find out kinda thing again?

Not that bad. Stability is mostly a measure of how much unrest or happiness there there is. Negative stability means an unhappy political, unrest which can include rebellions, potential breakdowns of authority and if stability gets low enough, the collapse or fracturing of the civ as it is too unstable to stay in one piece.

Low positive stability means there is some general unhappiness or problems, but nothing that people are going to start doing things about or impact on the overall society. High positive stability means that everything is going swimmingly.

Stability works on a scale of -4 to 3 excluding special stuff. You want to keep stability in the positive and spending a full turn at -4 will result in the civ fracturing or collapsing.

Legitimacy works differently as it operates on a scale of 0 to 3 and it how respected your current government is and recognised as the legitimate authority within society. Low legitimacy would mean potential rebellions, ignoring orders and laws from the current leadership and some parts of the nation seeking independence or their own leadership while no legitimacy would result in repeated attempts to get rid of the current leadership until some legitimacy is gained.

Yeah let's end the fighting and use our new diplomatic hero and mystic hero if she lives long enough to get our stability up. Then see how things go from there.
