Meh. I am thinking we learn from the Maradysh boarfolks instead. Easier to handle, and less work for us.

We will still need to send expedition to the boarfolks so that we can get early warning of a horde.

I'm not sure if there is still a tie, but I shall close the vote latter so if someone wants to break it or anyone wants to get their last minute votes in, now it the time to do so.

Regular diplomatic moves towards boarfolk, both the settled Maradysh boarfolk to encourage them to settle in the Great Bay and the nomadic boarfolk to set up sending tribute for military aid and to satisfy aggressive Great Khan's seems a good direction to go once we have our second province settled.

Keep in mind infrastructure backlogs as well.

I am thinking like this with an addition actions:

1) Free action
2) Exploration/Diplomacy action
3) Infrastructure

Eh, I don't think the social trouble is worth the investment. See how much issues we're having now. The boar would be worse.

Allies would be better than integration.

As a friendly reminder, we currently have zero stability and one legitimacy right now. Our people are pretty unhappy and our ruling class is seen as rather unpopular.
Now, while a war mission (if successful) has a chance of restoring our legitimacy, veneration is a surefire way of doing it.
From the information we have about the Maradysh (both loyal and rebel) the loyalists have this in the bag. We're less sure about the lowlanders coming in, but even then the loyalists have the advantage in walled settlements and cavalry.
They likely won't do too well if the Caradysh happen to come in to attack them as well (which is a good reason for the war mission) but we really won't do well if we have a revolt or some other sort of crisis at home (which is a good reason for venerate).

Just laying out the cards on the table for any last minute votes.

Edit: I also really want to put our province action on exploration and diplomacy. That is what has really been biting us in the ass the most out of all of this, so having that be a passive part of our system instead of trying (and failing) to allocate actions for it ourselves would be a great boon.

That's what I'm thinking as well, hopefully the province action we get is infrastructure focused that would be a massive help right now, if I understand the rules about province actions properly.

So I'm still a little confused on the new action. Is it after we do this next settlement we get another main or sec action to work with or something else?

I mean, Veneration also only has a chance of increasing Legitimacy or Stability, no? If it fails while at the same time the Maradysh aren't making any gains, we have pretty much the same conditions as when Evalyn decided to coup the priests.

We gain another player controlled secondary action as well as a province controlled secondary action.
We can direct a "focus" for the province action when we first get it, such as diplomacy or infrastructure.
After that we would have to expend a secondary player action to change that focus unless we get into or out of a war, at which point we can change it freely.

Hope that made sense.

This is the action:
[] [SEC/MAIN] Venerate the Goddesses
S: -1 Temp Econ, +1 Temp Mystic, +2 Temp Culture, +1 Stability, Chance of +1 Stability, Chance of +1 Legitimacy,
M: -3 Temp Econ, +2 Temp Mystic, +3 Temp Culture, +1 Stability, Improved Chance of +1 Stability, Improved Chance of +1 Legitimacy,

It is true that this only has a chance of increasing legitimacy, yes. I had thought it gave a sure shot for both that and legitimacy.

I'll have to reconsider some of my points then.

Well hopefully military intervention at least goes ok. I have vague memories of negative or sufficiently negative stability actually causing the civs collapse.

Couple of questions.
Do we understand the idea of a shield wall? Would something like that be considered a military idea? Also when it says we have shields what does that mean? Are they like bucklers or full on scutum size? And what would be the actions necessary to somehow level up the cats we have to ridable or at least sufficiently large enough to help us in battle or scouting?

Well, scouting could be done with the ones we have so long as we could actually communicate with them.

Admittedly I'm more spitballing but bucklers I think are more of a modern/duelling shield. big shields like scutums I think tend to be the norm generally, so I presume that's what we've got going.

DAMMIT NO VOTE IS CLOSED.
it does give legitimacy!
Its one of the faction quests!

Maybe we can get an invisibility spell and along with some kind of mental connection we can have full Cheshire Cat terror squads. The old Alice in Wonderland cartoon really creeped me out when I was younger particularly that damn cat and his grin.

No. You rely primarily upon small groups of warriors working together as a unit and your armies consist of several hunting groups working together. Rather than engage in open battle, your forces prefer to hunt down the enemy, ambushing them or trapping them. You excel in guerrilla warfare and are about average in open battle when you have the advantages of the Blessing of Arthryn, elite troops and divine magic. When you lose those advantages or they are countered, you are below average in open battle.

The shields are made using either wood, wicker or hide/leather and are meant to be used whilst being mobile. They on the smaller side of things because mobility is considered important so while the shields are useful for protection, they can't be large enough or heavy enough to slow down the wielder or be unwieldy to use.

As for levelling up the cats. Study magic I guess? You may get some cat-based divine magic out of that. But honestly, you are better off getting some big cats such as lions or tigers than trying to magically increase the size of your cats.

Have we ever heard about any larger cat types from anyone we've ever met? If not, sounds like we need more exploration actions.

I think I asked this quite a while ago and you answered in the affirmative that it was at least changing, but is Arthryn considered the Goddess of the Earth and or stone yet? Do we have an overarching creation myth?

We're on the British-Iberian peninsula. To get Big Cats, we'd need to jump to North Africa or Greece. Or the Americas, I guess, but that seems more difficult.
