Basically elves lol. Would like a boost to intelligence since the og blessing mechanically gives better innovation roles so I feel it would make sense for that to be improved.

Not really a fan of limited shapeshifting since I value the boosts others have mentioned more. Just don't see it as helpful as a large improvement in everything else.

Also since the boar people don't worship arthryn can they even get this blessing?

Another upgrade could be making it so you have to be a true believer in Arthryn to have the blessing applied or something like that. Basically a way to stop people from gaining our advantage by kidnapping us.

Boarfolk cant breed with people
They never got the blessing.
They are devout worshippers of the all boar as if their life depends on it (it could very well be that way)
They never worshipped the goddesses to be blessed.
The blessing doesnt apply to them.

Limited shapeshifting could easily give mechanical benefits if that's what you're worried about - it improves efficiency at just about everything, and would increase the chance of new heroes (because a prospective hero's body will change to suit their skill, allowing them to specialise more ably).

Elves already exist, they're the not!Greeks.

Also, I'm against "intelligence boosts", those generally just come with the thread overestimating their own intelligence and assuming they can't do anything monumentally stupid.

No, "but we iz smurt" is not considered a valid argument whenever your so-called "smart guys" inevitably fuck up.

A much better improvement would be if the Blessing made everyone Communist. :V

How about a hive mind?

Doubling down on reducing internal discontent seems like a pretty obvious road to ruin though. Why would we want that?

that will feel a bit of a let down if that happens instead of a general upgrade

Really how do you know it increases hero chance? I thought heroes were simply born heroes. Both options would give mechanical benefits I just don't really like shapeshifting and would rather increase our innovation chance.

I don't know what mechanical benefits it would give. Honestly, it would help with literally everything other than innovation.

Yeah but theres also, I think this plan is a bad idea but I don't want to speak up because everyone else seems good with it.
Which I think Random Member was worried about.
With enhanced empathy that sort of groupthink is lessened - because you don't need to speak up to have your disagreement noticed, and thus it's never the case that everyone assumes everyone else thinks X.

I guess it depends on what limited shapeshifting actually entails. My assumption is that it would be rather hard to actually balance shapeshifting since it seems like something people would try to munchkin in terms of the game, and narratively I think improving the base upgrade or improving our people so that they have better empathy/telepathy like others mentioned ties well into the civ as a whole.

Limited shapeshifting, to my mind, is basically being able to become the best possible form of human (or potentially catperson) for the task you're doing. So rather than every woman being top heavy all the time, if a woman chooses to be a scout or a warrior her body shifts to a more athletic/acrobatic form, while if she chooses to concentrate on raising children she goes to the "fertility goddess" form of birthing hips and large breasts.

If you start doing hard labour it doesn't take years for you to build up your muscles, just days or weeks, and if you move from that to running messages your muscles switch over jobs quickly and cleanly.

Sounds pretty cool, but at the end of the day I like the other ideas more.

This idea and the empathy link one are my favourites so far.
