Two problems.

First, we don't have a large number of mooks. Yet. Hell, we actually don't have that many settlements so until the Arthwyd can expand, mass conscriptions are only for emergencies, not regular troops template.

Second, even if we do have Phalanxes, they're not the best considering our home field situation. In case you haven't noticed, we're in a forest environment, not an open plains like in the lowlands. Forests are for skirmishers and fast movers while Phalanxes are static units more fit for holding down choke points and defensive formations in open plains.

So yeah. Unless we're invading the Lowland or something, Phalanxes are terrible idea.
Two words: Swiss Pikemen
Also they can still be useful for defending settlements, which is the main goal. Even if they aren't to the level of insanity of swiss pikes.

Friendly reminder that at most we have bows and spears, and that the technological advances required to make a functioning pike are a long way off.

We are still in the stone age y'all

we actually unlocked shields via the war, its in the military tech tab in the turn. so no we cant make pikes but we can still have shields and spears for roughly the same effect.

The last time we did sacred warriors in a civ quest we got stone age ANBU, so ofc I'm going with...
[X] Sacred Warriors. The People shall not follow the barbaric practices of the lowlands, but shall train warriors that serve the goddesses in sacred duty. They shall be few in number and take more resources to train, but it will make the People happier and they shall be better than regular warriors. (-1 Temp Mystic, -1 Temp Culture, +1 Stability, Gain Value Sacred War)

kill all the boar people, leave none of them alive with poison and bile...

when we make sure they all die we reinforce our allies with palisades and our own lands to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Because fuck these crazy guys.

Dude, we are nowhere near the amount of expertise needed to form the Landsknechts.

Besides, those badasses were often backed with modern tactics, combat engineers and artilleries. None of which we actually have right now.

Our current asset is limited to guerilla tactic, body enhancement, superior tracking and healing magics. As famed as the Swiss pikes are, they are just not that a feasible choice of unit for the Arthwyd right now.

warrior monks are the first step!

[X] Regular Warriors. Following the barbaric ways of the lowlanders, the People will train large numbers of warriors to fight for the People. This will give more fighters for the People, but some will be unhappy at following the barbarian ways of the lowlands (+1 Temp Martial, -1 Legitimacy, Gain Value Quality Of Its Own)

Yes, yes they are, but that is soooooo far in the future right now.

Even then, in the future I'd probably prefer to focus down the Arthwyd's ranged tactics. Pavise crossbows with Divine aiming are gonna be deadly. Looking forward if we can reenact the Battle of Agincourt. Or maybe taking inspiration from this war, we can have more horse riding archers? A pseudo Hun Arthwyd is gonna be fun to play around with.

I for one look forward to Amazon warrior women considering almost all our heroes are female, as well as our goddess.
meanwhile all the guys are just twidling their thumbs, being restless.

I do wonder what the whole almost all heroes are female and the goddess thing is doing with the civs gender equality. Back in PoC they players tried for something similar but it ended up being male dominated anyway.

Are the People closer to equality with it traits etc or is it becoming more and more male dominated in the background like in PoC? @Oshha

Id put my money on reversed gender roles from most civs irl.

Right now, it is more equal than not because the People haven't really developed the social concept of men do this and women do this other thing, but there is a growing tendency for priests to be women.

Ah, gender equality.

Kinda ironic that it has been achieved by people who don't actually know what it means and why it's a problem.

I wonder when we will have another male hero.
Actually that behs the question, @Oshha is it possible to have a male hero, blessed by one of the goddess, not turned into a female? If he didn't want too?
