Catching Victory (A Pokemon Quest)

Go to the Pokemon Center, introduce Circuit to the whole team, reshuffle our active team, then head west out of the city? Thoughts?

I'm busy for the next dozen or so hours, so I'll check back later. I'll probably support any vote along these lines.

Is it possible to head back to Gideon's gym to apologize for the way it seemed like we were attempting to bribe him out of one of his own personal techniques? We could easily admit that we shoved one of our feet into our mouths on that one, right? It just doesn't feel right to leave the city before we do that. Gideon is depressing/depressed and...I honestly think he needs some help. Apologizing for the foot-in-mouth moment just feels like the right thing to do in this circumstance.

Eh, I was reluctant to vote for this even though it's sensible. I'm still slightly salty at how a write-in that I intended as a compliment and morale-booster instead upset Gideon. :oops:

It's alright. *hugs the wobbuffet* I honestly thought it was complimentary too. It's just that we couldn't predict how the depression would affect how he would view our actions. And honestly, everyone sticks their foot in their mouth at some point so it was bound to happen sooner or later. The least we can do is apologize, after having some time to clear our head and think about what was offensive about what we said.

    • You head to the Onega City Gym. You know you messed up when dealing with Gideon before and you want to make amends before you leave the city.

    It just doesn't feel right to leave like this.

    The smell of tobacco fills the air as soon as you open the door. You wave your arm in front of your face to wave the smell off. When you look inside you see Gideon training his Shiftry. Several of the potted plants have been moved and paper targets have been put in their place. Some are stationary. Some have been attached to wheels and are moving. Some are even attached to toy planes and helicopters and are floating in the air. In all there are around two dozen targets.

    "One more time! Leaf Storm" Gideon yells.

    The leaves on Shiftry's hands start to glow a bright green. He glares at the targets before unleashing his attack. Dozens of leaves are launched from his hands, cutting through air and slice down the targets.

    "You got them all this time. Good work, Shiftry." Gideon says. Despite the praise, neither his voice nor his face doesn't convey any emotion.

    "That was pretty good" You say.

    Gideon looks at you. No, that's not it. It's like he's looking through you.

    "What do you want?" He asks. "You already have your badge. What else do you want?"

    "I... I wanted to apologize." You say. "I didn't mean to come off like I was just interested in... I messed up. I didn't think that it would come off like I was just giving you the card so you'd give me advice."

    Gideon thinks about what you said for a moment, never breaking eye contact. Finally he responds.

    "That's alright. We all make mistakes."

    "And that card that I gave you. I meant it. He's a good person. If you decide to call, I'm sure he'll be able to help you." You tell him.

    "...I'll think about it. Thank you for apologizing." Gideon says. There's a hint of emotion in his voice. You think it's... hope.

    [] He seems to have forgiven you. Ask if he could give you tips on using Grass Knot.
    [] Say goodbye and wish him good luck.

    Lesson learned, let's see if we can avoid sticking our foot in our mouth at the next gym leader's gym.

    Excellent. After all, Gideon may be one of Bard's subordinate gym leaders when Bard becomes the Champion. :D

    Hmm...time to continue on. Who do y'all want to switch onto the team? Circuit the rotom? Adamantine the onix? And instead of whom?
