Catching Victory (A Pokemon Quest)

You sigh, they couldn't be this incompetent. They really really couldn't. You decide to push the issue.

"Look, do you know who my mother is? She-"

"I don't care if you're the bastard child of Mew, and Arceus." The Dispatcher says in an increasingly annoyed tone. "If you call us again and there isn't an emergency, then you're going down for Misuse of an Emergency Line"

"But I-"

*Beep* The Dispatcher hangs up. Your jaw practically hits the ground. Apparently, the police aren't going to be of any help this time.

You start to think about who you could call. You could try to get the police club... though the most they could legally do is carry this guy to the Police Station. Which is fine. At least he's going to be off the street. You only have a few Facebook friends in Fianga but maybe one or two could help. Maybe.

"If the police were going to be any help, then they'd already be here a while ago. You practically have to get murdered on the line for them to show up" The woman says, before checking her watch. "Look kid, I sorta have a thing I need to get to. If you still want one of the pokemon, say it now if not, then I'm taking both of them and getting out of here. If you wanna babysit this guy, go ahead"

[] "Alright, I'll take one of them"
[] "No thanks, I don't want any of his pokemon"

[] "What else does he have on him?"
- [] Take his wallet. (Split what's in his wallet 50/50)
- [] Take his hat.
- [] Take his phone.
- [] Take his boots. They look like they're worth something.
[] "Let's leave everything else he has on him. I just wanna take his pokemon"

[] "I'll still try to get this guy arrested."
[] "Just... forget it. I'm just gonna get out of here."

Just in case anyone is wondering why a Team Olympus Grunt is drunk in an alley, what you're seeing is the postscript to a very amazing night.

- [X] Pop out the battery.

Free money? :3

"Alright" You say. There are a lot of things you don't like about this, but at least you can keep a pokemon from team Olympus. You tell your team to get ready to defend her while she works.

The woman nods and walks towards the passed out man slowly, Slowly and carefully, the woman removes the pokeballs from the man's belt. After taking the pokeballs, the woman stares at the man for another second and starts to dig into his pockets. She takes out phone, at least about ten years old from the looks of it, as well as the man's wallet. Like everything else on him, is purple.

The woman takes the cash from the man's wallet before tossing it back on the man's body, who falls to the side, snoring.

"Thanks for watching my back" The woman says as she gives you half of the money, as well as the phone.

"I don't need another phone. It looks like an ancient piece of junk anyway." The woman says as you put the money away.

"Thanks..." You say. "Well, I need to take care of..." You point to the man.

"Alright. Maybe I'll see you again." She says before walking out of the alley, leaving you with the Team Olympus Grunt. "Have a nice day" She adds as she leaves.

You take the battery out of the cell phone. You don't exactly what you're going to do with it, but you've heard about people tracking you through the batteries in your phone. If Team Olympus had that kind of stuff in their phones, well, you didn't want to find out.

(Sociable)

The police wouldn't help, so you start trolling your Facebook, looking for friends that were in Fianga City. You don't exactly like the idea of leaving him along but you don't like the idea of carrying a body through the middle of downtown.

You don't want to have a repeat of what happened a year ago.

"So, are you planning on keeping 'em?" Eva asks you as she levitates some garbage out of boredom.

"You don't have a problem with it?" You ask.

"Eh... if he wants to leave, I'm sure they'll let you know." Eva says

"And I'm assuming you wouldn't stop them" You say. Honestly, you don't expect her to. If you were in her position, you wouldn't either.

"Probably not" Eva said. "So, are you gonna keep 'em?"

[] "After I heal you guys up properly, I'm releasing them."

I presume we'll get to decide again after some interaction with whatever Pokemon this is?

-[X] Take pics of the Team Olympus member, and post it on your social networking, but don't leave public clues to your location in case Team Olympus is online too. Explain the situation.
--[X] Go after that girl with two-thirds of your pokemon. The remaining ones stand guard over the unconscious man. She might have slipped a uniform on the man to misdirect, and really was the thief. Take a clear picture of her if you can, and forward it to the police later.
---[X] "It isn't often that I meet a gorgeous, and bold girl like you." Ask for her number to have a reason to get a close-up photo, if she permits. Still take one whether or not she is looking. Try to go for one without her notice first, and be ready for her to snatch your device, and attack you.

She'll be heavily inconvenienced if she's the sort to hang places with technology, in civilized society. The police might look for her, when she wants to hide. Gonna need to cover up enough to look suspicious, wear a disguise, or have reconstructive surgery, pokemon abilities to alter memories, or something. If she's not caught first, or lured into a trap, because she doesn't suspect Bard.

In the time it would take to dress up an unconscious man, she could have stolen his wallet and his pokemon four times.

Remember, Bard is 14.

She's between 18-early 20's. That's kinda creepy.

Still worth ditching that dumb uniform, and buying time for herself in the confusion. She could have sedated the man, to eliminate the chance of him waking up at inopportune moments.

Edit: My apologies. I did not realize that the second part of my counterargument might possibly be against the rules, or disturb some people. Though it has basis in reality, this enjoyable quest is likely not the right place for it, I've been informed. I'll just say that an adult woman reciprocating the advances of a minor, who is 4-6 years younger, is not outside the realm of possibility. It's less likely to be interpreted as creepy, than flattering, if the guy has got game, though they are likely to be rejected. My anecdote's extreme real-life example is edited out; I'd rather not take the chance of upsetting the mods, or our QM. I intended that vote as a way to throw the other pokemon trainer's suspicion in case she was a criminal. Getting another friend is a side-benefit. I will gladly edit out anything which might be inappropriate.

You ended up waiting another fifteen minutes, the most interesting thing to do is listening to the half conscious rambling of the Grunt. Thankfully, you ended up being Facebook friends with one of the members of the Police Club. A while later, he and another guy came to pick up the grunt and take him to the Police Station.

With the grunt in the bed of a pick-up truck.

It's sad that that ended up being the most professional police work you've seen.

After healing your Pokemon at the Pokemon Center, you start your trek to Route 308, still carrying the pokemon taken from the Grunt.

Because the pokeball belongs to someone else, it hasn't been sent to your PC, so you kept it with you.

As the concrete of Fianga of the city gives way to the forest of Route 308, you need to decide how many pokemon you're going to have out when you let out the mystery pokemon.

Are you going to have your entire team out? Just one? Or none at all. The more pokemon you have out, the more likely the pokemon may think that you're making an offer they can't refuse. But they may resent the perceived intimidation, even if you don't want it to come off as that.

On the other hand, not having as many of your team out could lead to the mystery pokemon to trust you. But if they decide to attack you, not having another pokemon to protect you could lead to you getting hurt.

Or worse.

[X] Keep two of your Pokémon out
-[X] Eva and Neptune

I choose Eva, because she can act as a translator for the mystery 'mon, if it has anything to say other than yes/no.

Considering switching to 'keep two out - Eva and Joan.' Thoughts?

Arkatekt's reasoning makes sense to me, for including Eva. I'll tentatively add Neptune, since I think he may be the most adorable & nice team member we have on hand right now. I'm slightly concerned that Eva may go for snark, or has to face against a Dark type.

Admittedly, if the situation changes, Bard ought to be able to adapt. If we want to go for threatening, probably Adamantine. If we want a fluffy image, we could go back to the Center and retrieve Fluffy. And if wanted to appear completely unthreatening, Leviathan is available.
