Catching Victory (A Pokemon Quest)

The streets are nearly deserted, with only a few people walking outside, as people finish their lunch breaks and head back to work. You and your team headed to the Pokemon Center, defeat still fresh in your minds, Especially since it was against the first trainer you had beaten. Neptune and Eva had taken it worse of all.

"Stupid. I should've seen it coming! Why did I just stand there! He was open and I didn't do anything!" Eva says. Her expression is somewhere between depressed and angry.

"We can't let this get us down." You say. "We just need to to learn from this. Do better next time."

"Yeah yeah..." Eva says, unconvinced.

"Hey, this isn't the last time we'll take him on. We'll get him next time!" You say with as much enthusiasm as you can muster.

"Hmph... I just hope I get another shot at that Poliwag..." She grumbles.

As your party moves, you notice something out of the corner of your eye. A girl, a couple of years older than you, sticks her head out of an alleyway and looks around, like she's trying to see if anyone is watching her. Your party makes hiding nearly impossible so she sees you almost immediately. She looks at you for a second then gestures for you to follow her.

You don't know what's going on. She may have recognized you and is just asking for an autograph. She could also be a mugger or a psycho. In either case, you're down to four pokemon but you hope they can handle anything if things go badly.

[] Go in.

[] Keep going to the Pokemon Center.

You go into the alley, ignoring years of your mom telling you to not talk to talk to strangers who are in a dark alley. As you approach, you see a couch, an old, broken down washing machine, and a section of fence have been left out in front of the apartment building near the alleyway. The alley seems like most you've seen before. Dirty, cramped, and has the smell of stale urine and cheap beer. It even somehow managed to be dark despite the sun still being out. There's a dumpster on the left side that either is leaking a horrific sludge, or it's a Grimer's home.

"Thank goodness you came. I need a strong trainer just in case he wakes up" The woman says quietly. She's somewhere in her early to mid 20's. She has brown hair tied up in a single braid. She's wearing a green dress with a white pokeball pattern near the hem, white heels, and is carrying a brown purse. At first, you think you see a pin on her purse, but you realize that it's a gym badge.

"In case who wakes up?" You cautiously ask. You're already regretting coming here. You're about three seconds from making a break

The woman shushes you quickly before looking on the other side of the dumpster. "There's a member of Team Olympus behind the dumpster." She whispers to you. "He's been passed out for a while."

"What the..." You look go around the dumpster and sure enough, a member of Team Olympus is passed out on the ground. He's wearing the standard Team Olympus uniform, a beret, a black belt with two pokeballs hanging from it, a purple long sleeved shirt with white gloves, purple cargo pants, and boots. He isn't wearing the vest that the grunts usually wear, though you don't know if it's because of a uniform change or because he lost it. He's clutching a bottle of liquor in his hand with four more empty ones around his feet. He also covered in glitter, though you have no idea where it came from.

"So... you just want me to help watch over him until the police come?" You ask. Up until now, Team Olympus seemed, well, seriously scary. Aside from the one you managed to capture then let go, they seemed to be able to do whatever they wanted without getting caught. Seeing one of their grunts passed out in the middle of the day, it almost makes you want to laugh.

"Not exactly..." The woman says. "You see, I called the police an hour ago. I don't think they're coming."

"An hour?" You almost shout. You heard that the police were overworked, but an hour? That goes straight from being overworked to just not giving a damn. Either that, or someone was being bribed, and honestly, you don't know what's worse.

"Yeah..." The woman says. "I tried calling them a few minutes ago but I got put on hold. Twice. The third time, they told me to "Fuc-"... well, to leave them alone."

"So they're pretty much ignoring this?" You ask.

"Looks like it..." The woman said.

"I'm going to steal his pokemon. After what they did to Nyasa, it's the least I can do"

"What!" You admit, Team Olympus are made up of bad guys. And technically, it legal to take pokemon from someone whose part of a criminal organization. But stealing someone's pokemon when they were passed out, it just felt wrong.

The woman shushes you again. "Quiet... You see, I'd go in myself, but my pokemon's still at home, and if he wakes up..." She looks at the man one more time. "Well, I'd rather have someone watching my back."

"I don't know..."

"If you want, he has two pokemon. One for each of us." The woman offers you. She holds out a hand, clearing so you can shake on it "Deal?"

"Eh, I don't see why not. Besides, we can release 'em later if we want to. Make 'em someone else's problem" Eva says. She's still nursing a wound from the earlier battle, but you can practically see the shrug she'd want to make.

Joan just leans against a wall, but then recoils as she notices something sticky on it. Idoesn't seem to care about what you do, as long as you do it quickly. Neptune seems uncomfortable with the thought of keeping the pokemon but he doesn't seem to want to just leave them with Team Olympus either. As usual, you can't read Leviathan's expression, so what she'd want is a mystery.

Before you can look around Circuit, you see that one of the old washing machines left beside the alley now has an orange and black color scheme. It doesn't seem like he cares one way or another. He just likes being in the sun.

[] "We don't know what pokemon he has and if we can handle them. Let's just leave him here"
[] "We can't take his pokemon! It's wrong. We'd be no better than... well, we'd still be better than them, but it just doesn't feel right"
[] "Go ahead and take both, but I'm not going to be part of this."
[] "Alright. I'll take one of 'em. But only because they're going to be better off in the hands of someone who isn't a criminal"
[] "Sure, I'll take one"
[] "Give me a sec. I need to heal my pokemon."(Use two Potions and a Revive to revive Neptune and Eva)
[] (Pragmatic) "I should take both of them. I'm more likely to be able to handle them if they're out of control."
[] Write in.

[] "What else does he have on him?"
- [] Take his wallet. (Split what's in his wallet 50/50)
- [] Take his hat.
- [] Take his phone.
- [] Take his boots. They look like they're worth something.

[] "Let's leave everything else he has on him. I just wanna take his pokemon"

[X] "Give me a sec. I need to heal my pokemon."(Use two Potions and a Revive to revive Neptune and Eva)
-[X] "Alright. I'll take one of 'em. But only because they're going to be better off in the hands of someone who isn't a criminal"
[X] "What else does he have on him?"
- [X] Take his phone.

Don't let him fight, don't let him call support in. We'll check with the Pokemon what they want later.

There might be tracking not connected to the battery, so we should look it over as soon as we can, later.

That's...a really really odd situation. What kind of unarmed person does this kind of thing?

Anyway. @MData Just checking, this grunt doesn't look like the one Bard let escape, right?

For now,

This reeks of a setup. Perhaps she is working with the Team Olympus member who is faking being passed out. Rebellious pokemon have been known to jump out of pokeballs on their own, so why can't they hand us a tampered ball, and get an attacker behind our line of pokemon? Or just a pokemon who'd go with enemy plans? We might still be outnumbered, or sucker punched, or flanked, with more effectiveness considering the battle we just had. We were just fooled by Poliwag, let's not be that sap again. That, or the police are really so bad, there needs to be a police club around here to pick up their slack. Or crime is just that bad.
[X] Use two Potions and a Revive to revive Neptune and Eva. Don't verbalize it unless she asks. If she were an enemy, you wouldn't want to bring attention to the fact that you're healing your pokemon, but you don't want her to assume that you suspect her, at least not this early. This should let you have at least a preemptive healing if she doesn't jump you as soon as you don't move toward the 'downed man.'
-[X] Call out your pokemon that would fit within the alley, and tell them what this woman has said to you. Eva can tell them telepathically that it sounds fishy, and to assume a formation to take advantage of attacking both trainers, while protecting Bard.
--[X] Call the police, and see if her story checks out, while keeping an eye on them both.
---[X] If her story is a lie, or sounds wrong according to what you hear from the police, grill her on it.
----[X]Consider placing her under citizen's arrest. Bind one, and/or two of them, using the nearest, and effective available material, if any. Knock them out if you must. If either of them makes a hostile move towards you, or your pokemon, bring them down. If they try to run, stop them.
-----[X] See if you have any contacts who can assist you in this situation. Haul them elsewhere if needed. If the police are corrupt, then maybe someone else nearby could help.

They're already out. We don't keep our team in their balls unless the location we're in means it would be improper to have them out.

I would think potions and Revives are common enough that anybody would be able to recognize them on sight, so I think this bit might be unnecessary.

Those things said, I don't dislike your vote.

So, we have another tie, so I'm rolling the dice. If it's a 1, then Bard is taking the pokemon, if 2, then he's going to doubt her.
Agent 99 threw 1 2-faced dice. Reason: Tiebreaker Total: 2
2 2

This seems a little too convenient. Who would see an unconscious man and then try to steal his pokemon? She said that she had called the police but that could be her trying to convince you not to. Part of you wants to believe that this is legitimate, but this could be a trap. You need to make sure.

You break the revive in half and give half to Neptune and half to Eva. After a few seconds, their injuries are already starting to heal.

"Thanks. I needed that" Eva says, rubbing her formally injured chest.

"Sea."Neptune says as he smiles.

As you start healing your pokemon, the woman glances at you. "Got in a battle?" She asks before turning her attention back to the supposedly incapacitated man. She doesn't question you healing your pokemon. Maybe it's because she wants to make sure your team is at it's best. Maybe it's because she doesn't want to raise any alarm bells.

"Yeah. A few minutes before I met you, actually" You say as you start spraying potion on your wounded pokemon. The rest of their wounds start to fade, though neither of them are at 100% yet.

She glances at the man before looking back at you. "Nice. I'm not much for battling myself, but Magmar and Machop wanted to fight at the Gym" She gestures to the badge hanging off her bag. "Still, at least we had some fun." She says with a smile on her face.

"Huh." You say. On any other day, you'd ask her about her pokemon, and about her Gym Battle. But there was still a 50% chance that this was a set up. "If you don't mind, I'm gonna call the police one more time. Maybe if they hear it from two people, they'll show up" You say.

"You must not be from around here" The woman says, shrugging. "Have it your way, kid."

You dial the number in your PokeGear. One Ring, Two Rings, Three Rings, Four Rings. Finally some picks up.

"Fianga Police. Do you need Police, Fire, or Medical?" The Dispatcher asks. She seems bored.

"Hello, my name is Bard Battliga. There's a guy that's passed out drunk in the alley between the P-Mobile building and an apartment. He's a member of Team Olympus."

You hear a heavy sigh on the other end of the line. "Look, it wasn't funny the first dozen times someone called claiming to have seen someone from Team Olympus and it's not funny now. I don't care if he's a random drunk, an annoying neighbor or someone who 'Just doesn't look right'"

"But he's wearing the unifo-"

"If you have a real emergency, say something. If not, then hang up" the Dispatcher says in a clearly annoyed voice.

[] Hang up. Clearly, this wouldn't be any help.
[] Try to press on.
[] Write in.

-[X] Then take a pokeball, the phone and remove the battery from the phone.

[] Do you know who my mother is?! :V

I quite like the idea of calling up the police club. I'll vote for that if MData gives it the okay.

[x] Try to press on.

[X] "Can your conscience handle tragedies you had the power to prevent, yet neglected? The man in front of me, wears a criminal organization's uniform! If there is property damage, if innocents are hurt, or other bad shit goes down, because I wasn't taken seriously, I'll inform people that you specifically are to blame. Want public shame and scrutiny? It's more hassle than relaying this message to your coworkers, I'm sure. Please do your job, and quit mooching off tax dollars. I'll try to keep a probable gang member ready for police custody, if you'd send a dispatch. I'm Bard Battliga, son of Vesyrn's former pokemon champion, Aria Battliga. My word is my bond. If you don't help, don't think I won't try to apprehend through other means. I am on the side of justice? Are you the same?"
-[X] "I CAN give interviews to well-watched news networks by the way. You'd be discussed. And then you'd be scorned by almost everybody who hears of this negligence. This is a matter of public record.
I have widely renowned contacts that I'm on good terms with, and I'm not the talking about things that people put in their eyes."

[X] Call others to tell them about your predicament, in case Team Olympus members, or crooked cops are dispatched to your location.

[X] Wait at the entrance to the alleyway, and be ready to vamoose.
