Can You Feel the Sunshine? (A Sonic the Hedgehog Quest)

Honestly, an important thing would definitely be making people in Blaze's world aware that Eggman is a present problem. Second, try and find any rumors of people in her world claiming to be from the islands where we live. Check and see if they're from Moebius' islands or ours. Beyond that, I'm not entirely sure.

[x] "Hm. Evil Me has that ring to teleport around, but he couldn't control it, which led to teleporting us to your palace. One of us could take it to see if someone can replicate it - maybe even the Eggman of your world, if he keeps not being an evil assface. Even then, I think we can move around Flickies Island and find a place where it's possible to teleport to your world...though this runs in the issue of you finding a similar place to Flickies in your home."
-[x] "And saying to everyone...look, I'm not an expert in civilized things, but even I can tell that dimension-hopping is a bit more than a tall tale. We can prove it, but...yeah, it's going to take a while. I'm thinking of first revealing this to some friends of mine in the Freedom Fighters then gradually expanding as time goes on. You...well, I can't really tell what you should do, but I feel a similar thing would do good to start."
-[x] "As for people...it runs in the issue that we need to find a consistent way to hop around worlds. Again, finding a similar place to Flickies in your world is a start, but there are a lot of things that still boggle my mind in this place."
-[x] "And as for that last part...well, it's simple. We deal each with our own messes, but if it starts bugging the other? It's free game."
-[x] You put the hands behind the head. "Don't let that stop you from visiting, though, the hills in my home island are cool and have some fun loops to run through."

I just have this scenario in my head where this adventure ends up with Sonic and Blaze entering their respective Super forms and breaking the barrier, resulting in a hole in the sky of where they're fighting.

Cream's Adventure Journal 5
Future Adventurer Log 16

Hello again journal, I'm starting to think I'll never recover my training grounds, I checked again after school and I think the bees are expanding their hive, they are very active.

on happier news, the special lesson my teacher hinted at was a group project! this is perfect! Maybe I can find companions to join me in adventuring and avoid the "doom!" That old lady Pyjamas was talking about.

and the project is very simple as well, we gather in teams of four and write about some different plants and their uses and do a small presentation in a week.

this will be easy because I got assigned to the best team a team with two of the smartest girls in my class!

Cream smiled as she sat on the makeshift table made from pushing the four desks together, lunchbox un hand, examining her three classmates.

To her left was Lena, a small light blue rabbit with green eyes, she needed to sit on top of some of her books to reach the top of her desk, the singular lock of hair popping out of the top of her head waving about as she rummaged inside her lunchbox.

Lena is easily the coolest girl in my class, she knows all the games, whenever recess comes everyone knows that she will come up with some fun game that everyone can participate in, I don't think anyone has ever beaten her in any game!

"Ooh, better luck next time bud" Lena said as she emptied out the lunchbox of the boy in front of her, a paper with a game of tick tack toe on the desk between them.

As the boy went away, grumbling all the way, Lena smiled as she added his lunch to her loot, she had gathered a grand total of six apple juice boxes, three chocolate bars and four PB sandwiches.

As she rubbed her hands together at the sight of her feast, she suddenly became aware of a shadow falling over her, "Lena" the teacher said sternly, causing her to flinch and turn her head towards them "y,yes teach?" She asked, trying in vain to use her arms to cover up her loot "what have I told you about gambling?" Lena quickly answered, waving her hands around in a panic "that I shouldn't do it, b,but you see, the thing is that what I'm doing is a, a, a service! Yeah it's a service!" The teacher raised an eyebrow silently demanding that she explain further "r, right, umm, since gambling is such a bad habit I'm showing my classmates how bad it can be by taking away their lunches so that they understand the consequences of it!" Lena smiled victoriously at her explanation while her teacher gave her a flat stare and crossed her arms "and I take it you were planning to return all your 'earnings' now that you taught them a lesson?" Lena froze at that, trying to find some way out of giving away her feast, before slumping and nodding her head "yes teach"

She tends to get in trouble though, but there's also a rumor that she has a hidden stash of candy hidden somewhere on the school, and that only she can reach it due to a secret mutation that she has.

I don't know whether that's true or not, but despite her troublemaking, she has a good heart.

"Ow! Ow! Ow!, quit it already!!" Screamed a slightly older hare as Lena continued to throw pebbles and dirt at her "no! Maybe this will teach you to stop bullying others!" She screamed as behind her, a boy tried to wipe his glasses free of the mud that had been smeared on them.

Older kids can be scary, but Lena never seems scared, kind of the opposite of her best friend now that I think about it.

"Ok, so I have a box of pear juice and a packet of crackers, who's ready to trade?" Lena said as she pulled said items from her lunchbox.

"Hmmm... I have a small bag of jelly beans I'm willing to trade for your crackers" Said Mint a rabbit with pink eyes and a thick coat of green fur that almost covered her pink eyes, her height being closer to Cream's own.

Mint is the smartest girl in class, she never misses an assignment and gets straight A's, she is very easy to startle too.

Mint hummed a song to herself as she s sharpened her pencil, making sure it was ready for when lunch was over when.

"Hey Mint! How was your week-" Mint let out a shriek as she jumped, scattering her pencil shavings on top of her small friend "-end" Lena finished as she brushed her head free of the shavings.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" Mint said as she fretted over her friend, who merely waved her concerns away, more than used to this sort of thing.

She's adorable, plus her hugs are super warm thanks to her coat, and it's kinda funny seeing her hug Lena.

"A,are you sure you're not mad?" Mint tearfully asked as she hugged Lena, the diminutive rabbit almost completely disappearing into her fur, whatever she might have answered sounding muffled.

Apparently Lena and Mint have been friends since they were even younger, it helps that they're neighbors as well, they're so lucky, since my house is kinda on the outskirts the closest thing I have to neighbors are those stupid bees.

but i do live close to the beach, so I guess I can't complain too much.

"I have this bag of ice cream flavored candy who has an offer for it?" Asked Jun, a brown and white rabbit with blue eyes, she was slightly taller than Cream.

Cream's eyes widened as she quickly brought out a candy bar from her lunchbox "I'll trade you my coco-choco bar!" Jun hummed in thought before accepting the exchange.

Jun is the second smartest girl in my class, she's always serious about studying, she says she's gonna be a business manager when she grows up, she almost never goes out during recess.

Jun sat on a desk near the window, letting the natural light illuminate her book as she studied, she would occasionally catch a glimpse of what the other kids were doing, right now for example she could see Mint once more attempting to absorb Lena into her coat as she cried for some reason or another.

She was about to return to her studies when she caught sight of a young long eared rabbit watching the two huggers from across the playground, "that's Cream right?" She thought to herself.

Cream was always a bit of a mystery to her, she was a rather friendly girl but she didn't have any friend or group of friends she hung out with, instead she drifted from group to group, engaging in conversation and games but not sticking with anyone, yet she seemed completely content, Jun couldn't say she ever saw anyone behave like that.

Suddenly Cream turned around and went to play with some kids that had some scotch hop lines drawn on the ground, leaving Jun contemplating her behavior.

She always seems a bit lonely to me, but she never really tries to participate in games, maybe I should try to invite her next time.

I don't know if these four will be able to join me in my adventures, but I have a whole week to find out, I'm optimistic though, they seem like good girls, even if they don't join me, I hope we can be friends.

maybe one of them can help me with the bees.

Future Adventurer Cream the Rabbit.

AN: and the adventures of Cream continue, I tried to find more child rabbit characters to use but almost every one is an adult or that Carrotia character from Tail's game, who I'm not sure what age she is supposed to be.

So I made some OCs to be her classmates instead, I was running out of ways to portray Cream going solo.

Lena is a good hearted gremlin with a bit of a mean streak when it comes to bullies, also she has an ahoge.

Mint is a walking cloud of a rabbit that wouldn't hurt a fly and is easily scared.

Jun is a rather quiet rabbit that prefers staying alone and studying rather than socializing with her peers, but does enjoy people watching.

Also Cream is starting to get quite a grudge against bees.

Cream's Adventure Journal 6
Future Adventurer Log 17

Hello again journal, I have great news! It's been a day since I last wrote and I'm happy to say that I'm feeling quite optimistic about trusting Lena, Mint and Jun with my secret.

it all started this morning, since my mother knew about the project, and that Mint and Jun are very responsible, she let me go with them to the woods near the school, where we went for the trip.

I hadn't even thought of how I was gonna go to the big house, but if they come with me, she will let me go! So long as she doesn't know we're going to the house it will be alright.

Vanilla sighed softly as she set some cups of hot chocolate on the table "this will be the first time Cream's friends come to our house without there being a school party" Cream had been behaving more independent lately, going to the woods near their home to play almost every day (though she's been returning earlier these days) where before she would at most play in their garden, becoming ever more curious at the things for sale in the market, where before she would just go buy her candy "she growing up so fast "

The pitter patter of Cream walking down the stairs snapped Vanilla out of her thoughts, "good morning dear, did you sleep well?" She said, with no trace of her earlier thoughts on her face as she walked to the kitchen to bring some sandwiches she had made "good morning mom! Yep I slept well!" Her daughter cheerfully replied as she arrived at the table dressed in her favorite dress, setting her backpack on the floor, before reaching for a cup "don't even think about it dear, you have to wait for the guests" she admonished without turning around.

I need to learn how my mother does that, it would be so useful on adventures.

Once the table was set and Cream contemplated making a second try at the chocolate, there was a knock at the door "that must be them" Vanilla said as she opened the door revealing a smug looking Lena, dressed in a shirt and shorts that due to her size, looked more like pants on her, who proceeded to do a theatrical bow "why Hello there miss Vanilla, may I say you are looking mar-is that hot choco!?" Vanilla giggled as the diminutive rabbit immediately stopped her act upon seeing food, and her subsequent run to the table was stopped as Mint, wearing only a small jacket, having been only a bit behind her friend, arrived to gently lift Lena in her arms from behind, looking quite similar to her daughter when she carried Cheese around.

"Hello miss Vanilla, how has your day been?" She politely greeted, a bemused look on her face as Lena struggled in vain to escape her hold, which only resulted in her sinking more into her coat.

"Good morning to the both of you, my day has been well" the older rabbit said before looking around " but weren't you supposed to arrive with Jun?" At that her ear twitched as she heard soft panting coming closer from somewhere behind the girls "yeah... She kinda stayed behind a bit" Lena said once more with a smug grin while Mint let out a sigh.

Vanilla let them through as she looked at where the panting was coming, from seeing Jun come up from behind a hill and stopping in front of her.

The poor thing looked terrible, dressed in a shirt and pants, panting and covered in sweat as she nodded at Vanilla "h,hello miss Vanilla, sorry I'm l,late" Vanilla quickly ushered her in with a hand on her shoulder "my word Jun what happened? Are you feeling sick?"

The young rabbit waved her concerns off "n,no I'm just, feeling a bit tired, I didn't sleep well last night and woke up late, so I had to run here" as she said that she sat down at the table, where she waved at a concerned looking Cream and glared at a smug looking Lena, who was sitting on Mint's lap, the fluffy rabbit holding an arm around her waist to keep her from reaching the rest of the table and taking all the sandwiches and giving Jun a look of pity.

As she took a sip from her cup Cream sked "so what happened to you?" "Ask her" Jun said as she glared at Lena, who simply said "she lost a bet" and continued drinking her chocolate.

"You made a bet with Lena!?" Cream exclaimed, out of all people she never expected Jun to do something so foolish, said girl looked chagrined "she cheated! I don't know how, but she definitely cheated!"

Lena cackled as she explained "since miss perfect over here didn't want her reputation being 'tarnished' by associating with me, I made her a bet, if I couldn't bring down a book from a high shelf without standing on anything, I would be on my best behavior but if I could, then she would have to carry me and my bag all the way here, she lost and could only carry me halfway because her arms are wimpy"

Any response was interrupted as the three girls caught sight of Cheese floating down the stairs with a cheerful "Chao!" And stopping to observe the girls in curiosity.

"What is that?" Jun asked, her annoyance forgotten "never seen anything like it in my books" continued Mint as she lost focus and dropped Lena, who while also staring at Cheese, started putting sandwiches in her backpack.

Cream smiled proudly and gestured to her friend "this is my friend Cheese, I don't really know what he is, I found him while playing in the woods one day!"

As the girls cooed over the adorable critter, who preened under the attention, Vanilla watched from the doorway to the kitchen, wishing for the hundredth time that she had a camera to forever keep these precious moments with her.

Alas, her memory will have to suffice.

Not much else happened after that, we went to the woods and gathered a lot of plants to compare them to the pictures in some books Mint and Jun brought, and then we returned to my house to write about what we found out about them, we're planning on going back tomorrow after school, I'm thinking of waiting for a couple more days to tell them about my dream of adventuring, I hope they will join me.

also in the excitement I forgot to ask them about how to deal with the maybe zombie bees!

Future Adventurer Cream the Rabbit

AN: not much to say here, the project has started and the girls have met Cheese.

This was mostly to show a bit more of their personalities.

with Mint what you see is what you get, she is pretty much Lena's handler, keeping her from causing too much trouble, but she won't stop others from giving themselves troubles by provoking her friend.

Lena is a glutton and will grab whatever food is near her, and has a knack for theatrics, she also doesn't care much for Jun and her reputation.

Jun cares a bit too much about how she is perceived academically.

Not many more of these omakes to go actually, the mansion is kinda the finale, at least for now.

"Hm..." You scratch at your nose, taking a while thinking on it. "Evil-Me has that ring to teleport around, but he couldn't control it, which led to us teleporting to your palace. One of us could take it to see if someone can replicate it - maybe even the Eggman of your world, if he's truly not an evil assface like mine. Even then, I think we can move around Flickies Island and find a place where it's possible to teleport to your world... Though this runs into the issue of you finding a similar place to Flickies in your home world."

"If it exists."

That gives you pause as you stop, questioning her on what she means by that. "If?"

"There was something you said yesterday that's been bothering more for a while. In addition to saying South, you also said West-Side was the place where everyone went to evacuate. Care to elaborate?"

Not exactly getting what she's leading towards, you try to your best to say it in the simplest manner. "Including the Island I'm from which is South Island, there's another one called West-Side Island which is close enough to be connected with a bridge, both pretty similar in size. Including some small Islands here and there as well as Flickies' Island being a few hours by fishing boat."

"..." She looks back to the night sky with a sigh. "I've studied much geography in my life, as is the nature of my stature, so my guess to the equivalent of South Island in my world would be Southern Island. But there is no West-Side Island that goes along with it, in fact South Island itself is rather insignificant in both size and importance, I only managed to recognize the name due to the similarity it has to yours in name. My world seems to be... A lot more connected than your own, there isn't much to explore and find. And the difference in geography from what is a single with only one Zone encompassing it all, and yours being a several-Zoned Island surrounded by even more many-Zoned Islands is a headache to think of. That and... Even in peace, borders between lands and nations still exist, sending my own to explore the world is a task that might be seen as overstepping my hand by the rest of the world."

...

Yeah, you're gonna stop this here. With her speaking so much and all. "Look, I'm not an expert in civilized things, but step back a little to something else you said, since this is going way too far into this scenario. Even I can tell that dimension-hopping is a bit of a tall tale. We can prove it, but..."

She interrupts you. "It's not a matter of proof Sonic, I have the pull to make others listen to me."

You make an Empathy roll, seeing underneath her demeanour here #3d6 = (2+3+3) 8.

You catch a glimpse of it. Though her words are entirely truthful, she inwardly cringes at acknowledging it. But you have no idea why.

In fact, you've started to notice she's been getting gradually shaky and more panicked as time goes on. Something she's been trying to hide and get herself a hold of it but it is only increasing as time goes on.

Choosing to ignore it for this moment, you continue. "Point is, it's going to take a while. It runs in the issue that we need to find a consistent way to hop around worlds. Plus I'm thinking of first revealing this to some friends of mine in the Freedom Fighters then gradually expanding as time goes on. You... Well, I can't really tell what you should do, but I feel a similar thing would do good to start."

She bites back. "And work off slowly, when I can target the Human responsible for this situation to begin with and not give him the chance to strike!?"

Something about that ticks you off. "I?"

That causes her to flinch, having not caught herself saying it like that. She's slipping her words.

"Look, Blaze, we're both of different worlds with our own problems. We each deal with our own messes, but if it starts bugging the other? It's free game." You put your hands behind your head. "Don't let that stop you from visiting though. The hills in my Home Island are cool and have some fun loops to run through."

...Blaze looks away.

So you continue speaking. "We'll deal with these issues as they arrive, one step at a time. There ain't no use worrying for what ifs and what comes next, being prepared isn't wrong. But sometimes you gotta just accept good and bad will come your way. It's part of life."

For a while, it seems like she won't say anything back to you. But as you're just about to turn away and prepare yourself mentally for tomorrow...

"And what would you do in my situation...? Two worlds in danger, that will continue to be in danger once we save them! And yet you say to me that you can handle him!? Th-That I can handle my own world's issues!?" Her fists are shaking, and her face exasperated. Something inside of her has been breaking down since you both found out how similar you two are to each other-no, perhaps it's been since she was brought here from another world, so far away from her own with the stakes higher than she could ever imagine. Or maybe... It's both. "How can you expect me to be able to believe you so easily!? That you'll be able to hold him off? And why is that... You can believe I can handle myself too?"

You are on the verge of another crack to Blaze's exterior, the ember underneath waiting to burst out. If what you've been doing is finding your similarities and what makes her tick, then this would be to discover what is the basis behind her actions and personality. A crack big enough to leave a gaping hole to light up a flame where you can tear at each side more easily. But should you not get to the heart of it... Those cracks will reverse their form to become armour of steel that will persist to block you from attaining the truth, a shield that would take so much more to break.

But beyond that... You are on the verge of making a discovery on the nature of both your worlds. Something that will only become obvious should you break through that shell of hers.

[] "Blaze, I suppose this is obvious...but there will always be dangerous things in the world."
-[] "Natural disasters. Natural selection. Age. I lost count of how many friends I lost to these during the time I lived alone in Green Hill. I watched each of the first critters that cared for me die for various reasons. And Eggman...I never saw any of his Badniks killing anyone, but I have seen them harming a few, and I don't doubt many mourned for the loss of a friend or familiar because of the invasion."
-[] "I realized this fact very early," you look sober, before grinning. "And you know what I did? I decided to do what I could to stop those situations. Through storms, I carried chickens and rabbits alike to caves for protection. Against predators, I fought them while their prey ran away. Against age...I could do nothing, but make sure their time in land was fruitful."
-[] "I've been thinking of that guy as my counterpart...but honestly you and I are more similar. I get it now. You want to protect what is precious to you, just like I stood for the sake of the animals of Green Hill and later for the people of South Island. But you can't help everyone at once, just like you can't stop the wind of a storm. All we can do is dance in the rain and make the best out of a bad situation."
-[] "I can't change the past, nor see the future. I can't tell how long it will take to solve the issues of both of our worlds...or even the current one. I don't know much about the world, but there was one thing I understood since the beginning. We can't be there for everyone, but wherever we go, we can make a change. Trust in the You that has this power....and I'm sure you will be able to get past any trials that go on your way."

Edit: Alright, any suggestions to how to approach this?

On second thought, I will be putting down a moratorium of 12 hours to encourage discussion. Which has now been edited into the update.

For anyone who has voted, please change your votes to have the x's in the brackets taken out, to look like this: [ ]

Is anyone else getting kinda hyped up looking forward to seeing a realized Social Link? I'm definitely feeling this current Blaze and Sonic progression.

I do have a suggestion if you don't mind. Maybe we could talk about how we've beaten Eggman and his plans before, both with our friends (the zones he trapped, Silver Sonic, etc.) and on our own (the boss fight with him at the end of the first adventure). Go on to say that we're only getting stronger, and getting even more people to help us out along the way.

Then? We can draw on what Sonic has experienced every time he has had to compete with Blaze.

The air changes in an instant, all three of you looking at each other with determined eyes and minds as you all know that in the next instant anything can happen. You feel it, these two...

Are your equals.

You feel it in the air again. That feeling you felt last time, as the tone changes all around you. This feeling of being...

Equals.

The feeling of being an equal. He is more than well aware that Blaze is a match for him, she has shown that twice now. I think Sonic would use that to argue that if he can do it, Blaze can as well.

Edit: To take this even further, he's seen how competent she is. Heck, he knows that she beat Silver Sonic on her own. That's some pretty impressive stuff there!

TLDR, we should try to make her understand why we believe in her. And ideally give good examples like the above.

Sheesh, what an update to see before I go to bed.

Honestly I can't say I know what to say at all, but I agree that that Blaze seems to have some self worth issues in regards to her ability to handle her world's problems and allowing someone else to handle their own world's problems without her help.

she has been raised as both a future ruler and a guardian of her world, meaning that she has an ingrained sense that she must be capable of doing something, and if she can't, then that is a sign that she is failing.

Or that's how I see it, either way we must be very careful in how we handle this.
