Can You Feel the Sunshine? (A Sonic the Hedgehog Quest)

[X] Take 2 Actions to heal

[X] "Great, as if Mighty, Whiz and Ray getting kidnapped wasn't bad enough. Now I got dumb and dumber racing off everywhere."
-[x] "Lets hope the cat will be more willing to listen to reason, because that Faker is clearly no good, and neither is Robotnik... "

[x] Perhaps you want to take some time off to heal?
-[x] Yes. I'll take 2 amount of Actions to heal.

[x] Honestly, the last thing you were expecting for your next solo act was a world-ending crisis, and meeting Evil You! You have so many damn questions...but part of you knows that there's little time to waste. You don't know how much the visitors from another dimension know about this world, but, if you follow the pattern of the Chaos Emeralds, maybe getting rings will open a way. On the other hand, this island is quite freaky with its rules...so explore all corners, beat all the robots that appear in the way, and be wary of ambushes. So long you manage to collect the Sol Emeralds, you will probably manage to convince the Cat that you are not her enemy.

[X] "Ah, man...I heard of feeling the heat, but that was ridiculous."
-[X] You imagine a whole different dimension than yours. A place where Sonic the Hedgehog was named from birth, and where he had a known family. "And yet, this guy squanders all to be a punk...asshole." You remember Eggman saying something about this dimension being a reflex of the other: could it be that...you needed to find Blaze soon, maybe with some Sol Emeralds for bargaining?
-[X] "Alright, bozos, let's dance!"
-[X] Creacks knuckles. "Agh, and I thought Egghead was the worst of my problems."

Caught up with this quest again, and I'm loving how much things have wildly diverged from any form of canon. I'm really impressed RomanceNinja.

Also, lmao at Anti-Sonic getting jumped by Sonic and Blaze. Our fighting style went from Sonic The Hedgehog to Jujustsu Kaisen real quick.

I am interested in the fact that Anti-Sonic was under the impression that he could use the Sol Emeralds in some way. The only person we ever see use them to achieve a Super Form in canon is Blaze if I remember correctly. I wonder what lore was behind that assumption, as well as how Anti-Sonic of all people found it. (Maybe being part of a royal family involved learning about the history of others as well? Some sort of attempt at making him able to be diplomatic and hold a conversation with foreign royals?)

But man, with -6/11 HP there's better than even odds that Anti-Sonic dies on this island. Imagine if Eggman inadvertently prevented the bad end of another world by bringing Anti-Sonic here.

Here's hoping that Blaze at least lets us help her out. And hey, maybe we can get to see Burning Blaze.

Anti-sonic is just scourge before he found the master emerald and turned green. Scourge already has a super form(which was purple for some reason) but I wonder what it looks like considering he hasn't "turned" into scourge yet, if not never will.

Oh I know he's Scourge and all that. I was mostly curious because, well, being Anti-Sonic and all I kinda doubt he would go out of his way to read mythological storybooks and stuff like (canon) Sonic does.

His whole thing is that he is the same as Sonic physically (usually) while being his opposite in terms of morality and personality. A good example would be how, in this quest, Sonic is going out of his way to attend reading and writing lessons. Anti-Sonic would probably never do that, just because of who he is as a person.

Now that I'm thinking about it if he grew up in the forest like Sonic but stayed the same, he probably would be even more clueless than Sonic was when the quest first started.

Blaze mentions that Anti-Sonic is "the scion of Jules", so unless Jules left his son in the forest to fend for himself (which...hm. It is Anti-Mobius (Anti-Earth?) so maybe?) I'm pretty sure Anti-Sonic grew up in civilization.

He used the Anarchy Beryls instead of Chaos Emeralds. They were super numerous but also very unstable.

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery-" - Shadowj6480
Title: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery-"

"-that mediocrity can pay to greatness" - The oft forgotten half of the famous quote by Oscar Wilde.

Anti-Sonic limps across the checkerboard floor of the island (not that he knows he's on an island, or even what said island is called). His legs shake and shudder from his injuries, and it's only the knowledge that stopping could very well mean death that keeps him going.

After all, Sonic's evil counterpart believed that Eggman had double crossed him. As it was, he wouldn't be surprised if the mad scientist had hoped to be rid of two foes with a single device. If the scientist saw that the attempt had failed…well, he did not trust that Eggman's robots wouldn't be primed to kill him as well.

With slow, cautious steps, he continues to drag himself forward by the vines which line the stone wall next to him. The vegetation lining the walls lightly stains the palms of his gloves a dark green.

He attempts to focus his hearing on the area around him, eyes too blurry from pain to watch for danger. He keeps alert for any sign of Blaze or Sonic, as well as the sound of approaching robots.

Something in his chest stings though, and he nearly collapses to his knees as he almost blacks out.

His heroic counterpart, as well as the pyrokinetic princess, had done quite a number on him.

There are quills in his back that aren't his. Ones which he cannot quite reach to pluck out. Not without further aggravating the bone deep bruising he's suffered. On top of that, he's got a nasty couple of burns from where Blaze managed to scorch him.

He snarls. It's a weak and ugly thing, one lacking its usual bite but none of the anger.

"Damn it! How?!"

He glares at the ground uncomprehendingly. His arms and legs shake as they hold him up, his hands curling into fists as he rages to himself as quietly as he can.

"He was stronger than me! Faster than me!" He weakly slammed a fist into the ground. "How?!"

The brief blow he exchanged with Sonic during the three-way fight with Blaze, as well as the results of their race, were getting to him. His seeming inability to land nothing more than a scratch on his double, and the fact that he was outpaced, was nothing short of infuriating to the young Moebian. On top of that, when their jump-dashes had clashed, Sonic had dealt significantly more damage.

It had even dealt more than the fire-wielding princess's own attack. The one which had set him on fire.

He just couldn't understand.

His rage peters out. Exhaustion the likes of which he's never felt before weighing his body down. "H-…how…"

With those final words, Anti-Sonic collapses.

Of course, the answer to his question of "How?!" was simple. Not that he would figure it out as he was; unconscious and unaware of how exactly he and Sonic differed.

The fact of the matter was this: while Anti-Sonic and Sonic had likely been physical equals for most of their lives, that had recently stopped being the case.

Anti-Sonic spent his days terrorizing people who couldn't fight back. Individuals without the means to effectively mount any sort of counterattack against his gang, or someone with a speed mutation as drastic as his. He excelled in being a thug of average intelligence with a neat gimmick, and nothing more.

Sonic however? Sonic was someone who had been challenged. A heroic individual who had traversed trap filled Zones, trashed hordes of killer robots, and even twice taken on a metallic copy of himself.

Once even when said copy had been powered by a Chaos Emerald.

Yes, that fight was made nearly trivial thanks to the assistance of one Porker Lewis. Yes, he had help in the form of Mighty The Armadillo equipped with a temporary Shield.

But that didn't change the fact that Sonic had been the one to create the plan. It didn't change the fact that not a single one of them took any real damage during that fight.

Anti-Sonic was used to winning fights with ease, he would not have bothered with something like a plan.

Facing something equal to his speed like Silver Sonic? Something made to match, then surpass him? That only would have led to one outcome.

Death.

So yes, he was almost an equal to Sonic. But at the end of day…

Almost wasn't good enough.

AN: A little something to celebrate how hype re-reading the quest has been. Here's hoping I can chuck out more of these things as time goes on. I wanted to write this as if the absolutely curb-stomp ass-kicking Anti-Sonic received was part of a book. Hope I did well!

The reports of Shadow the Hedgehog, Penultimate - radioxaxa
The reports of Shadow the Hedgehog, Penultimate

It's done! The process has been a complete success! The antibodies inside of Shadow's body work!

It has been 3 months since my last official report on Project Shadow, during which I have observed the growth of Experiment 0073, i.e Shadow.

The hedgehog Mobian has reached full maturity expected with no issue's or decay in body, unlike his predecessor, its almost a herculean leap in improvement with science. I can only thank my generous donations and DNA samples for this perfect specimen.

Regarding the antibodies, after some prodding, I reluctantly agreed to use Maria as a test subject for their effect,
of which the process has been a complete success.

My dear Maria is far healthier than she ever has been since I brought her onboard the arc, her vital signs have improved dramatically and she is now capable of walking without the aid of anyone else. The once sickly girl is now filled with life again.

My thanks go to Shadow for his aid, the mobian is almost like a second grandson to me, polite and respectful, almost like Ivo, he follows Maria around like a puppy. A black and red puppy, while not too say he isn't fond of the rest of the research crew, but he seems to have a kinship with Maria in particular. Perhaps due too being in similar age groups, or perhaps because her kindness draws him in....

On too other matters, Shadow has been progressing prodigiously in other fields, he has managed too almost master the exposure to Chaos Energy from the Emerald provided too us, a feat he took no small amount of pride in(though he is most certainly not unjust in that regard)

He has also taken to other training our guards have provided quite well, learning how to handle firearms or fight in hand to hand.

His feats showing potential far above anything the average mobian could ever dream of.

Shadow is undoubtedly the perfect result of this project, we have already begun harvesting small samples of his DNA for further experimentation.

Perhaps some could even be provided to Shade too heal their on issues.

Regarding his... sibling, I have been planning too introduce Shadow too them sometime this week, hopefully the meeting between these two shall go well, but I have also prepared some sleep gas on experiment 0072's cell in case of violence, hopefully it shall be unnecessary.

Drawing aim to one other issue, it appears the Public has been not responding well to the open news about Project Shadow's first 'successful' experiment, with many worrying about the violence the Biolizard displayed(Yes, as if that's not one of the many reasons we considered it a failure, unfortunately it appears society in my time away has been led to become sheep...)

I've been getting warnings about the United Federation about how risky my research has been getting, but in two weeks time, I'm sure I can convince them the Project has surpassed expectations and is worth keeping around.

For now, I shall simply monitor Maria and Shadow and test for any last bumps in the road on my granddaughters way to recovery, hopefully nothing shall happen though.

After all, with Shadow by her side,
my dear Maria will never be in danger again...

Rival Interlude - Yet Another Sonic
Background rolls as Anti-Sonic decides to heal for 3 Actions, and Blaze goes out to Rusty Ruin Zone: Act 1 as her first Action...

Chance Encounter!

1 for Silver Sonic, 2 for the S.S.S.S.S. Squad #1d2 = 1. Silver Sonic!

Blaze POV

This place seems like a contradiction. Completely away from civilization yet swarming in robots of all kinds.

In fact, this entire situation is a mess! You've been trained to be the future ruler of the Sol Empire and the protector of its treasures, but you never expected something of this magnitude to happen practically out of nowhere. But even if it was unexpected... You should've been able to do something about it.

Sonic... The son of the great Jules the Hedgehog from the Kingdom of Acorn. The man who managed to create The Great Peace for your world of Moebius, managing to create friendly relations with nations of all kinds, and above all... Convincing your late father as well. Getting the favour of the Sol Empire is what truly managed to put The Great Peace into motion. But that son of his, Sonic, seems to be just as much trouble as the news reported to you at the time by Gardon. Taking the daughter of the man his father serves, just to run about as petty criminals? Ridiculous to an insane degree.

You can't let a person like that get their hands on the Sol Emeralds, no matter what.

As for the Sol Emeralds, you can't be sure how they would interact with this world, or how the absence of them may affect your own. Not that you... Exactly know what the true power of the Sol Emeralds are.

Every child of Moebius has heard the legends and myths regarding it, its power, but what it truly does is kept secret by your royal family. An oral secret meant to only be told when one of the family turns 18, but before it could be told... You wish to not think on that. Either way, there's no telling what Sonic would be able to do with that power if he got his hands on all seven.

Which now brings you to this place, this dimension that holds a different sonic, another that you can't trust though for different reasons. You can't risk thinking that he's just an "opposite" of the Sonic of your world, or perhaps would counterpart be the better word? And even if he is perhaps of good nature, it's still your own duty to protect the Sol Emeralds as the Imperial Princess of the Sol Empire.

Though that makes you think on something he said earlier, the Chaos Emeralds... Chaos as the representation of this world, a feeling you're already experiencing with the robots that roam this place that immediately attack you. You wonder how the Sol Empire is like in this world, how you are like in a world that you feel might not have The Great Peace? Though that all is an assumption on your part that this world is anything like yours to begin with.

You run, feeling the cold evening wind go against your fur, the moon now up in the sky. At least you can be glad that looks the same as yours.

And then you stop on your tracks, seeing the sight of something strange. A robotic machine that jets closer to you, a mixture of grey, blue and yellow painted on itself, thin arms that end in claws, a bright red visor for eyes, and strangest most... The resemblance it has to the two Sonics.

It finally notices you, taking but a moment to stop...

Silver Sonic has a higher Basic Speed than Blaze.

Silver Sonic boosts back 10 yards.

Silver Sonic then extends his claw arm at Blaze with -4 Brawling due to moving #3d6 = (5+4+4) 13. Fails to hit!

Before boosting backwards with the jets on it's legs and extending it's claw arm right at you! But it seems to miss as its aim was unwieldly due to moving.

"An enemy then. I don't know why you look exactly like them, but you will not get in my way!"

Blaze throws a Flame Fling at Silver Sonic #3d6 = (2+6+1) 9. Hit!

Blaze: 9/10FP.

Silver Sonic tries to boost out of the way #3d6 = (5+1+5) 11. Fails to dodge!

Silver Sonic burns for #1d3 = 1 Round.

Silver Sonic takes #1d3 = 1 Burning Damage.

Silver Sonic: 14/15HP.

You throw a flame at the robot, it barely even reaching them due to the distance, just grazing their head slightly.

If this robotic creature went exactly that far away backwards to extend their arm, you can probably guess that's the upper limit of his reach, about the same as your flame.

Silver Sonic extends his claw arm at Blaze to grab her #3d6 = (3+3+3) 9. Hit! Anyone who doesn't dodge this will need to make an immediate Karate roll on their turn to get out, or have someone help them get out!

Blaze tries to dodge away from the incoming extended claw #3d6 = (6+2+6) 14. Fails to dodge!

Blaze looks at Silver Sonic, she's willing to risk the guaranteed damage she'll get to trade damage at him, so she uses a Flame Fling #3d6 = (3+2+2) 7. Hit!

Blaze: 8/10FP.

Silver Sonic burns for #1d3 = 2 Rounds.

Silver Sonic takes #1d3 = 3 Burning Damage.

Silver Sonic: 11/15HP.

Since it now becomes Silver Sonic's turn, he takes #1d3 = 2 Burning Damage.

Silver Sonic: 9/15HP.

Silver Sonic boosts at the target he has trapped in his claw #1d6+1 = (6+1) 7 Damage.

Blaze rolls HT for a Major Wound due to taking more than half your health's worth in damage!

Blaze rolls HT to not get stunned #3d6 = (3+2+3) 8. Does not get stunned!

Blaze: 4/11HP.

Your eyes widen as you see his arm come right at you, grabbing you around your waist as you feel yourself trapped within it.

But... Perhaps this could be used well. If this robotic copy seems to have a guaranteed hit on you, then you'll give a guaranteed hit on it! With flame you burst out of your hand you throw it at the robot as it boosts at you, seeing the fire it your target before he in turn also hits you-

Your vision goes blurry as your brain goes numb for a moment. In takes a second for you to realise you just got knocked through the air, flying as then your back hits a tree. But despite that, you stand up to face your opponent more, your body shaking a bit from the hit. Perhaps that wasn't exactly the greatest idea, but as they burn you see some parts of the robot melt before your eyes, good enough you suppose.

Blaze runs 10 yards to reach Silver Sonic.

Blaze uses an Axel Jump Dash at Silver Sonic with Karate -4 due to moving #3d6 = (4+6+5) 15. Hit!

Silver Sonic tries to boost out of her flaming way #3d6 = (5+3+6) 14. Fails to dodge! She bounces off of him to the air where he can no longer hit her with his boosts!

Roll for damage for Silver Sonic: 1d6+1 = (1+1) 2 Damage.

Silver Sonic burns for #1d3 = 1 Round.

Silver Sonic takes #1d3 = 3 Burning Damage.

Silver Sonic's Move and Dodge halved due to Health reaching below 1/3rd!

Silver Sonic: 4/15HP.

Silver Sonic extends his claw towards Blaze in the air to pull her to the ground #3d6 = (1+3+5) 9. Hit!

Blaze tries to dodge his air whilst she twirls in the air #3d6 = (3+5+6) 14. Fails to dodge! She falls to the ground!

Blaze tries to push out of Silver Sonic's grip on her turn, a contest of Brawling/Karate as she uses Karate #3d6 = (5+5+5) 15. Failure by -1!

Silver Sonic uses Brawling #3d6 = (1+4+5) 10. Success by +0!

Blaze is unable to get out of Silver Sonic's grip on her turn!

Silver Sonic boost right into her stomach with the full force of his body #1d6+1 = (1+1) 2 Damage.

Blaze's Move and Dodge halved due to Health reaching below 1/3rd!

Blaze: 2/11HP.

You decide to not take any chances here on it doing that again, you run straight at the robot, kicking off the ground to jump in the air as your body bursts into a spiral of flames! Your foot just barely manages to land against the robot's shoulder, but that's enough for you to kick off of them and get into the air. You don't any contraptions on it that may let it jump after all.

But, as you think that, it instead turns it's body to look up at you, and its arm extends towards you, grabbing you whilst in the air as you fall to the ground below!

You instead try to get out this time, not wanting another hit like that. And in a way, you almost do as the thing boosts itself at you, managing to partly hit your stomach as you try your strength at the claw holding onto you. But even though the hit wasn't as much as before, you immediately feel its affects as you feel yourself slowed down.

You can't just stand around like this, you're going to lose, and who knows what the robot will do to you after standing as the victor.

Blaze attacks with an Axel Jump Dash at Silver Sonic #3d6 = (3+6+2) 11. Hit! Blaze decides not to bounce up!

Silver Sonic tries to boost out of the way #3d6 = (2+5+6) 13. Fails to dodge!

Roll for damage for Silver Sonic #1d6+1 = (1+1) 2 Damage.

Silver Sonic burns for #1d3 = 3 Rounds.

Silver Sonic takes #1d3 = 2 Burning Damage.

Silver Sonic: 2/15HP.

Silver Sonic turn comes around, he takes #1d3 = 2 Burning Damage.

Silver Sonic: 0/15HP.

Silver Sonic will have HT rolls to stay conscious which will now happen every round due to being at 0HP or below!

HT roll for Silver Sonic to not shut down #3d6 = (4+2+4) 10. Does not shut down!

Silver Sonic boosts at Blaze #3d6 = (5+5+4) 14. Fails to hit!

Blaze tries for an Axel Jump Dash against Silver Sonic #3d6 = (6+4+6) 16. Fails to hit!

A leap towards the robot as you kick at its side, it's metal melting as the flame reaches, catching the robot on fire completely. The kick wasn't strong, but at least the thing has caught on fire from head to foot.

You breathe heavily, exhaustion starting to take its toll. But even more than that, you see your own fire has taken its own toll on your foe, as they crackle with electricity and twitch in various ways.

You and the robotic menace go at each other, another Axel Jump Dash from you whilst the thing boosts at you, you both missing the mark on each other.

HT roll for Silver Sonic to not shut down #3d6 = (1+4+1) 6. Does not shut down!

Silver Sonic's turn comes around, yet again he takes #1d3 = 3 Burning Damage.

Silver Sonic: -3/15HP.

Silver Sonic boosts at Blaze, pushing through their system trying to shut down #3d6 = (2+4+2) 8. Hit!

Blaze tries to dodge out of the way #3d6 = (4+5+2) 11. Fails to dodge!

Roll for damage for Blaze #1d6+1 = (6+1) 7 Damage.

Blaze rolls HT for a Major Wound due to taking more than half your health's worth in damage!

Blaze rolls HT to not get stunned #3d6 = (4+6+3) 13. Stunned!

Blaze is unable to do anything during her turn due to being stunned!

HT roll for Blaze to not fall unconscious #3d6 = (1+1+6) 8. Does not fall unconscious!

Blaze: -5/11HP.

HT roll for Silver Sonic to not shut down #3d6 = (3+4+6) 13. Shuts down!

But your flame still burns on the robot, and as you think you'll win...

It suddenly boosts straight at you. With your body already exhaustion you don't get enough time to jump out of the way as it hits your chest, your ribs and rattle as some of them break as you fly through the air once more, hitting the ground a few times before stopping. You realise in this moment that you can't move, as you look at the robot stare down at you from above, and though there's no expression its face, you can feel its determination.

It boosts right at you as you close your eyes waiting for the impact... But none comes. As you open your eyes you see it standing right before you, its red visor now a dull grey as stands there with a slacked posture, but still staring you down nonetheless.

Blaze is no longer stunned!

You feel a return to your senses, able to move your body once more as you build up a flame in your hands...

But then it fizzles out. You can't finish it, it looks too much like the two hedgehogs for your own comfort. Plus you can't be wasting time like this, you need to find a safe place as you feel your mind slip closer to unconsciousness, a place where you can't be found by any random roaming robots.

You get up, and then run as much as your weakened body can allow.

HT roll for Blaze to not fall unconscious #3d6 = (1+6+4) 11. Does not fall unconscious!

Blaze decides to run until she finds a safe place before she falls unconscious!

15 or under for Blaze to find a safe place #1d100 = 68. Does not find a safe place!

HT roll for Blaze to not fall unconscious #3d6 = (1+5+1) 7. Does not fall unconscious!

25 or under for Blaze to find a safe place #1d100 = 92. Does not find a safe place!

HT roll for Blaze to not fall unconscious #3d6 = (4+6+2) 12. Does not fall unconscious!

35 or under for Blaze to find a safe place #1d100 = 49. Does not find a safe place!

HT roll for Blaze to not fall unconscious #3d6 = (1+2+6) 9. Does not fall unconscious!

50 or under for Blaze to find a safe place #1d100 = 99. Does not find a safe place!

HT roll for Blaze to not fall unconscious #3d6 = (2+4+5) 11. Does not fall unconscious!

65 or under for Blaze to find a safe place #1d100 = 59. Finds a safe place!

You twist and turn at many corners, your mind slipping ever closer to darkness, more and more turns until-

There! A small path hidden behind some pillar!

And as you run your way in, you see your vision turn to a complete blur as you thump to the ground.

A/N: Silver Sonic continues to be perhaps the most menacing character in this quest.

"Is he stronger that you, Silver?"

"…good question. If he were to acquire all 7 emeralds, the battle may prove difficult."

"But would you lose?"

"Nah. I'd win."

Credit where credit is due, Blaze actually managed to solo Silver Sonic. I'm not sure anyone has managed that in this quest so far.

Also, lmao at a Blaze interlude getting posted the day I decided to start working on a Blaze interlude omake.

Crazy how in game silver Sonic was like a boss that only showed up once I think and was soloed by a Sonic that had no rings. Yet in this quest he's not only keeping up with blaze and Sonic, but has beat them both to the point of unconsciousness before getting taken out himself. Mecha sonic's gonna be a absolute juggernaut, let alone metal and neo metal.
