But, moving on with the topic, you pop out an idea. "AN, AN... Uh, I'm not the best person to talk about time-like, I still need to understand what a year is-but maybe the A stands for after... Something?"
"After N..." She raises her wing to the side of her face, resting on it as she looks towards the moon above. "Can't say that's a bad theory. The year system coming along after some huge event... Yeah definitely not a bad theory at all, I'll keep that in mind Sonic."
…Oh! After Nocturnus! The echidna clan that's trapped in the twilight cage! Shame that there's literally no way for us to know that in-character at this point.

Amadeus watches as Miles shakes his hands to him from afar -their sign of him going to the junkyard. You smile and wave back, watching his child walking away -likely to the junkyard, his workshop of a sorts. The fox Mobian wasn't exactly poor, but he hadn't enough to make a workshop for both of them, and Amadeus always was busy with some work -specially now, with so many people wanting either weapons or to see some of their belongings fixed. A good stream of money, sure, but it was exhaustive.
Especially with how close he was to finish his sidejob.
He glances at the anvil, where his last knife was. Putting the object in the water, he then takes it off and put it aside. The customer would come later to reclaim his defense weapon, but for now, the fox had a bit of time before doing the finishing touches.
'Good. I will give a look at the Tornado.' Planes were rare in South and West Island.
Most people knew what a plane was, sure. The humans used them a lot to get around fast, but nobody exactly knew how to make one -at least in the islands.
The Tornado, in truth, had been a luck finding on his youth.
Five years before Miles birth, the Islands were in conflict with a group of humans from...he couldn't remember from where, but it got ugly fast -not a war, but still pretty bad regardless. Amadeus was still a novice cop, attempting to court this one beautiful lady named Rosemary. He still did metalwork -and the occasional mechanical work in his car -but that was a hobby that he did since child.
In one beautiful day, he was working in a gift to win the heart of Rosemary when he heard a loud crash outside his house. When he went over to see what happened, he found an utterly demolished biplane, his pilot dead -later, he heard that the man had a heart attack, dying still in the air. Still, for some reason, no one went to collect the machine -maybe because of the focus in the conflict with the humans -and thus, rather than letting it rust in the scrapyard, Amadeus decided to drag the destroyed vehicle and see if it was possible to rebuild it.
And soon saw how impossible it was for him. Sure, he could repair some of the most basic things, like the wings and all the holes that pierced the metal, but much of the machinery was lost in the explosion. Only building a compatible engine took him a decade, because he had to do that from scratch, and the occasional article that he managed to find from the black market, which was quite costly.
When he first presented the machine to Rosemary, he had said:
'One day, I will take you through the skies. You and Miles.'
At the time, he and his woman were married for two years, and about to have their little pup. It was close to the time of labor, but Rosemary wanted much to know in what he worked so much outside of his time in police. She put her forehead against his.
'For what? I already touch the stars with you close to me.'
In the next day, she would enter labor. Their son, Miles, was born with yellow fur and, more egregiously, two tails. A few hours later, Rosemary would die from a hard labor. Then, two weeks later, a muggling going wrong would result in Amadeus losing his eye and being forced to retire from service.
It's as if some god, angered by the bold statement of the fox couple, decided to punish them for their arrogance.
Amadeus never blamed his son. What is the sense of blaming a child for the whims of fate? All he did was keep living and attempting to make a living out of his work as a smith/mechanic, and be saddened that his child never met the incredible fox that catched his heart.
The Tornado became an afterthought during some time. Maybe because of the bitter memories, maybe because of his work, but Amadeus stopped working in the machine after some time, leaving it to gather dust.
And then Miles found one of the schematics.
Amadeus did lots of those, in an attempt to make pieces that fit the biplane. His son was ten years old now, a timid thing that, until then, the older fox thought was merely very smart. Seeing the interest of the two-tailed fox, he let the kid take the schematics.
He later returned with those machines. Not only equal to what Amadeus had imagined several years ago, but improved. He would even risk to say top of line. All made from materials in the scrapyard.
That was when he truly recognized that Miles was a genius. And this lit a fire under him.
He had to tighten the finances a bit, sure: before, metalwork wasn't a work with constant payment, so he had to manage carefully to let them have everything needed to live. But it was worth it. With a few more "loans," his son made pieces that excelled anything that Amadeus could create or that the black market could offer for his model. He would say that 50% percent of the machinery was all the work of his child.
Week after week, Amadeus would keep the biplane preserved. Keeping the rust away, regular painting, maintenance of the machinery. He never had the courage to fly with it, partially because of his hindered vision, but because part of him knew...
'This plane is his. Not mine.'
He looked at the sleek machine. Amadeus painted the machine red -one of his son's favorite colors -while letting the propeller be white. It was a beautiful thing: the single plane in all of the archipelago, as far as he knew.
He touched the machine. His intention was to let his son pilot it when he became sixteen years old.
Yet. Yet.
All this talk about Freedom Fighters made him think that his time in the bunker was about to expire.
"I wait anxiously to see you reach the stars, old friend."
I caught that as well. But if it was just that Romance would probably just say "canon on the condition you remove X" as he's done a few times before. I assume he has something special in mind for such an iconic vehicle.
[X] "The more you know about someone...the more you understand how little you understand about them..." you mumble.
-[X] "...maybe that's the part that bothers me the most. Johnny's opinions, the fact that Porker is your nickname: I should know that, I am supposed to know what my friends thinks it's good and bad. And yet I ignored that. This just makes me feel like a jerk!"
-[X] You put a hand in your head. "Maybe it's a terrible idea...but I would like to talk with Johnny as soon as possible. The Freedom Fighters are our dream, and I betrayed his trust by doing that stunt. I...want for us to at least see eye to eye by the end of the night."
"The more you know about someone... The more you understand how little you know about them..." You mumble under your breath. "...Maybe that's the part that bothers me the most. Johnny's opinions, the fact that Porker is your nickname: I should've known that. I am supposed to know what my friends think is good or bad. And yet I ignored that. This just makes me feel like a jerk!"
"Sonic..." He tries to put a hand to you, but you continue anyways as you take your palm and slap it against your forehead.
"Maybe it's a terrible idea... But I would like to talk with Johnny as soon as possible. The Freedom Fighters are our dream, and I betrayed his trust by doing that stunt. I... Want for us to at least see eye to eye by the end of the night." You give him a serious expression at that, letting him know you mean the truth in what you say.
As your friend contemplates your words, the only things that could leave his mouth a sharp sentence. "...I just hope you can find him then."
It seems a lull has now happened, with no more to say you both start slowly walking away, much in both of your minds.
...but even though you promised to find Johnny, you never got the chance to see him this night.
Sonic's relationship with Porker Lewis improves ++!

[X] "So friends have disagreements, huh?" you mutter. "Never had one of them until now. Disagreements, I mean."
-[X] "...man, talking to others is more complicated than I thought."
-[X] "So, how many people do you think will come for your shop after tonight? Did I do a good job as your representative?"
"So friends have disagreements, huh?" You mutter. "Never had one of them until now. Disagreements, I mean... Man, talking to others is more complicated than I thought."
She shrugs at that. "Eh, it's life. Just get yourself used it it and you should be fine." With that said, she shoulders you playfully, trying to bring your mood up. And to be honest? It does.
Smirking at that, you go on with something on your mind. "So, how many people do you think will come for your shop after tonight? Did I do a good job as your representative?"
"Pft, we'll see about that." She says, smirking at you.
"Betting more than you'll get in Freedom Fighters!" At that moment you start running away, leaving her with no choice but to accept bet.
"Hey you-!" She shouts throughout the dense crowd, running after you!
You smile, as you intentionally don't go as fast as you could have. You're just glad to be having fun right now, as you both run throughout the night.
Sonic's relationship with Honey the Cat improves +++!

[X] "Eeeh...a bit complicated," You were sure that Johnny, Porker and Honey knew how to read, but between the job of the latter and the disagreements of tonight with the first two, you didn't know if they would have time to teach you. "I suppose a teacher will suffice for me."
-[X] "So I will receive the rings needed to fund the organization...on what exactly can I spend them, besides the base? Do I have to pay other people? Can I use them if I need to whoop Eggman's ass in another island?"
-[X] "Well, I wish you a good night of parties, Mayor Snow. Hope that you and Mayor Tony keep enjoying the party!"
"Eeeh...a bit complicated," You were sure that Johnny, Porker and Honey knew how to read, but between the job of the latter and the disagreements of tonight with the first two, you didn't know if they would have time to teach you. "I suppose a teacher will suffice for me."
"Hm, good! That'll be a small part of the finances then..." Snow says as she looks to be noting this all down in her head.
You tap your foot to some thoughts lingering in your head, a couple of questions you need to ask her. "So I will receive the rings needed to fund the organization... On what exactly can I spend them, besides the base? Do I have to pay other people? Can I use them if I need to whoop Eggman's ass in another island?"
One of her eyebrows raise as that last question. "If you couldn't take them to fight that madman, it'd certainly ruin the point. What you can buy is pretty varied? Certain equipment yes, though you'd need to set up meetings with certain businesses and such. Oh right, the important thing! You'll get that inititial fund, but we can't support you after that due to a few... Frustrating laws that'd be difficult to change, a perhaps years long process to do that. Due to that, you nor anyone under can profit yourselves off of this unless you're directly putting money into the organization you run. What you'll need to do is create favours for others within the Islands to get more rings, especially since you'll be having to keep things afloat." That Mayor before you waves a wing with each passing thing she mentions, sending your mind spiralling in confusion.
You know what? You can do this tomorrow instead. "Well, I wish you a good night of parties, Mayor Snow. Hope that you and Mayor Tony keep enjoying the party!"
Her eyes widen in a bit of surprise at your suddenness, before calming down and saying one last thing to you. "I hope you enjoy yours as well Sonic!"
You walk away into a crowd, counting your fingers as you go along, with the energy of this festival brimming all around you...
Sonic's relationship with Mayor Snow improves +++++! Sonic's relationship with Mayor Tony improves ++++! Though these two are not regular Socials due to their busy lives, you did create an impact towards them.

The next day you travel through the city, basking in the mid-day sun, though you can't expect everyone to be as up as ready as you are with how much they all partied yesterday. You stand in front of an extremely tall building, going on and walking up floor to floor.
Until finally, you reach the destination you need to and head inside...
Roll to 2 Star you must get 50+ #1d100 = 31. Does not become a 2 Star, thus staying around the range of 50 Character Points.
Animal Generation... Oryx
Trait Rolls... Due to them being your Secretary, you get to see them! Well-read, Impressionable, Tactless.
Age #1d100 = 78. They are in their 30's.
Combat Specialization... Uneeded.
Other Specialization... Uneeded.
Gender #1d100 = 39. Male.
Mutation, needs 90+ to get one #1d100 = 86. None.
Who you see first is not what you expected, as though the man in front of you is shorter in height compared to yourself, their horns practically extend upwards to twice your own height. Quite frankly, it looks like those things could friggin' skewer you! To add to it, he wears a woolly green checkered outfit almost reminding you of your old home, as well as glasses to his face. Didn't take too long to find out what glasses were and the point of them after the last few weeks of being in this city. A few wrinkles to his face as well, though not to the extent of Mayor Snow and Tony.
"Ah, Sonic the Hedgehog, it's wonderful getting to meet you for the first time. I am your secretary, as well as your reading instructor. It very much surprised me to learn that you were of such poor background from dear Mayor Snow and drunkard Tony. Let us begin on some aspects shall we? I hope this relationship will prove fruitful." The man says monotone and stone-faced. As he then goes to grab an almost stupidly large amount of papers from a desk behind him.
...yeesh, this guy just does not know how to hold back when he speaks, does he? You sigh, getting ready for a long day ahead of you, just how did you get yourself into this position?
You have acquired Toll the Oryx as your Secretary! They will be soon added onto the eventual Informational for the Freedom Fighters!
—
Say hello to running the Freedom Fighters! Due to your own actions, you have ended up in this position.
Lets get started on a few things, shall we?
Instead of counting things with things, they're instead replaced by Resource Points (RP). You can use these to buy or upgrade various things within the Freedom Fighters, though due to the complicated legal system of the Islands, you will be unable to spend them on yourself.
Expenses are needed to be paid at the beginning of every Month, all to keep this operation of yours afloat.
As seen with Toll back there, Freedom Fighters will be randomly rolled.
Essentially those are the basics, and to truly get started on the Freedom Fighters you'll need to buy a base of operations with your RP. Be sure to read everything down below as it generally explains itself for the most part, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Oh, and before I forget, one last thing. Unlike Allies/Socials, Freedom Fighters dying do not count as Bad Ends. Have fun with that knowledge.
[ ] Despite you living in the same place as Johnny, he somehow manages to avoid you.
[ ] Porker seems to be tinkering again, looking at various Badnik parts he's been able to grab.
[ ] As you pass through the streets of Casino Night Zone, you notice Honey through some windows of a building, training herself and fighting others in that unique style you've seen of her before.
[ ] Write-in. Perhaps you have your own ideas for interactions? Interacting with 1 person is a single action, 2-3 for 2 actions, 4-5 for 3 actions, and 6+ for 4 actions. You can go anywhere to hang out with anyone, just as long as they aren't busy which would be marked with italics.
Within the Islands
[ ] Visit Green Hill Zone to meet up with your animal friends once more.
[ ] Visit the beaches at the southernmost of South Island, apparently those places are great for chilling about.
[ ] As much as you got sick of Marble Zone, you think it'd be nice to just go around the place looking at the ruins.
[ ] Take in the sights of Spring Yard Zone, man you really do want to see this place filled with people.
[ ] Yeah how about no, you ain't exactly raring to go drown in Labyrinth Zone.
[ ] Star Light Zone is another great city just to look around, and frankly without worry of Badniks hitting you at the back of the head too.
[ ] You want to explore Scrap Brain Zone, seeing all the weird stuff built by Eggman.
[ ] Go walk around in Casino Night Zone, you do live right at the outskirts of it after all.
[ ] Explore West-Side Island, you don't exactly know the place very well so you might as well explore it Zone by Zone.
[ ] Due to the chaos of what Eggman put the population through, the means to travel to most of the smaller islands is pointless.
[ ] Take some time to rid of the Badniks in Green Hill Zone. 0/2.
[ ] There are no Badniks left in Marble Zone.
[ ] Take some time to rid of the Badniks in Spring Yard Zone. 1/2.
[ ] Take some time to rid of the Badniks in Labyrinth Zone. 0/2
[ ] There are no Badniks left in Star Light Zone.
[ ] Take some time to rid of the Badniks in Scrap Brain Zone. 0/3. Badniks are still all over the place, meaning that people still can't get into South Island safely. Might as well bash open some bucket heads right? (You can also earn small amounts of extra Character Points here, along with joining alongside your Freedom Fighters to work together, though this counts as it's own action that isn't part of sending your Freedom Fighters out)
[ ] There are no current Bounties to collect.
[ ] There are no current Internal Missions to go through.
[ ] Brick Bison's Shop. Perhaps you want to buy something from there?
[ ] There's some side work you're able to do now, advertising Honey's business. She says she'll get you up to speed on what to do.
[ ] Looks like Oryx will out here teaching you how to read, let's see how well that goes. 0/4.
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] Flickies' Island. You remember that night Mighty told you about his dreams, and at the possibility that there might be people stuck in places where those giant rings on the small island may have sent them. Unable to get that out of your head, you can't help but feel the need to help them find they're way back home, wherever they are. There seems to be some activity by Eggman on the island. Starts a new Adventure!
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] It seems that beyond the mountain, there are still places that Eggman has invaded and have been untouched. Perhaps you should pay those places a visit, especially since those places are still homes to some of the population of South Island. Starts a new Adventure! Perhaps you'd like to immediately start on a new Adventure? Run as free as the wind and see where it brings you, let the excitement of exploration and danger take hold! (None of the characters out of the current cast want to (Honey, Porker) or can (Johnny) accompany you, nor do you currently have any Freedom Fighters)
[ ] Write-in. Perhaps you have some of your own ideas on what you want to do?
Ally Projects
Honey the Cat accessories:
[ ] Slicker Gloves and Shoes (gives +1 to Charisma rolls towards characters that would be affected by your "cool" factor). 2500 rings.
[ ] Write-in. Perhaps you'd like to ask one of your friends about a possible project?
Freedom Fighters You have 10 RP
You must spend 1 action here unless you have set someone else in charge of the week.
[ ] Where to send your Freedom Fighters? (You currently have none)
-[ ] External Missions.
--[ ] Take some time to rid of the Badniks in Green Hill Zone. 0/2.
--[ ] There are no Badniks left in Marble Zone.
--[ ] Take some time to rid of the Badniks in Spring Yard Zone. 1/2.
--[ ] Take some time to rid of the Badniks in Labyrinth Zone. 0/2
--[ ] There are no Badniks left in Star Light Zone.
--[ ] Take some time to rid of the Badniks in Scrap Brain Zone. 0/3.
-[ ] Internal Missions.
--[ ] You currently have none. Establish a building first.
-[ ] Bounties.
--[ ] You currently have none. Establish a building first.
-[ ] Standby.
-[ ] Write-in. You must always put 1 action towards this, unless you have pawned the Freedom Fighters to someone else for this week. The ordering of all your Freedom Fighters only counts a single action from you. It also must be made in plan format, other actions aren't to be in that plan.
It is always good to have a few on Standby, in case of Sudden Events like Badniks taking over a town or a natural disaster.
For the Write-in, perhaps you heard of rumours that you can send your Freedom FIghters to collect information on, or maybe there's this one special task that you need doing?
You can establish multiple Freedom Fighters on one task, getting them to work together, but always keep in mind that some Mobians just might not get along.
Each individual Freedom Fighter only has 1 action per week.
[ ] Buildings.
-[ ] West Side Island (Casino Night Zone).
--[ ] Lv. 1 Main Building. The Shack. Allows for 1 specialized room. Ups Expenses by 5. Costs 10 RP to build.
--[ ] Lv. 2 Main Building. The Slightly Better Shack. Allows for 2 specialised rooms. Ups Expenses by 10. Costs 20 RP to build.
--[ ] Lv. 3 Main Building. An Actual Normal-Looking Building. Allows for 4 specialised rooms. Ups Expenses by 20. Costs 40 RP to build.
--[ ] Due to having no buildings here, you cannot make specialized rooms.
-[ ] South Island is unavailable to put buildings in. Due the tough months the Islands have suffered under Eggman's rule, the best building they can make is at Lv. 3.
You will not gain any Freedom Fighters until you have established a building.
[ ] Upgrade Unarmed Combat Weapons (Brass Knuckles, Steel-Toed Boots, etc.) = 25 RP.
[ ] Upgrade Melee Weapons (Swords, Spears, etc.) = 50 RP.
[ ] Upgrade Muscle-Powered Ranged Weapons (Bows, Slings, etc.) = 50 RP.
[ ] Upgrade Ranged Weapons (Pistols, Sniper Rifles, etc.) = 50 RP.
[ ] Upgrade Heavy Ranged Weapons (Bazookas, Flamethrowers, etc.) = 75 RP.
[ ] Upgrade Weird Weapons (These are untraditional weapons, as such you put RP into individual ones when you get a Freedom Fighter who can use them).
-[ ] None for now.
[ ] Buy certain items and equipment for your Freedom Fighters to carry. Instead of a single buy, it'd instead be a Monthly Expense.
-[ ] As of current, you have no connections in order to do so.
[ ] If you're busy, you can lend the Freedom Fighters off to someone else for this week.
-[ ] Currently, none of your friends are likely to do so, along with you having no Freedom Fighters to pawn this off to. Though Toll thinks he might be up to the task if you ever thrust it upon him. This costs no actions.
At the start of every Month you get Expenses that deduct your RP, you current have: 1 RP Expense.
Every three Months, you get new Freedom Fighters to recruit, at the start of these Months: August, November, February, May.
Due to your speech, you get 1d5+5 Freedom Fighters this Month after creating a base of operations, then 1d3+2 every 3 Months afterwards.
[ ] Write-in. Perhaps you want to interact with an individual Freedom Fighter, or stop an internal fight?
Free Events/Information
It seems the mobilized effort has stopped since you... Well... Have become the mobilized effort.
Mayor Tony takes his time to look through all the documents he currently has, being sure to notify you as soon as he finds something.

A/N: I have spent over a week making an entirely new system because of your actions, having turned this future side feature that I wasn't even sure would have mechanics, into a core part of the quest. Though don't stay focused on it too much, it's best to remember to have fun!
Small hint, if you want more actions for yourself, you're gonna have to finish more Adventures.
Sometime later I'll also be getting ready for new Informationals for all of you to keep track of your Freedom Fighters.

Yeah, no socials. Maybe we can do one next week -with luck, Johnny's? - but I recon that keep clearing the island will be better for now. Besides that, we should really start making some money and getting start on being literate.
And, of course, if we have the resources, no reason to not go ahead and start doing this.
No Freedom Fighter action...because we are the only one, lol.
Edit: corrected version. This gonna be a short turn, lol.

I would give...two turns -after this one - before hopping. I want to see if we can at least talk out with Johnny, and set things up for the Freedom Fighters to pay at least the first month of their land.
I say...considering what we know, we should go for the mountains. People don't like Flickies Island, and it's on the sea, so better start with a more achievable goal in the island.
Edit: However, we also commented on going on Flickies to Honey, so both are still viable options for what to do next.

As it had been usual in the last week, Johnny rushedly left the apartment. 'Thank the heavens this place has a lift,' thought the rabbit.
It was pretty early in the morning, so neither Sonic nor Porker were awake. He had left a message for his pig friend, though, in a place he knew the new leader of the Freedom Fighters wouldn't find -the good old space between the couch.
'Ugh, such a pain to move with this thing!'
He glared at his cast. The more he walked with it, the more he felt rage over having to still stay with five and a half months. He didn't notice because Porker helped him, but now that he was going into these walks to relax/avoid Sonic, the rabbit noticed how awful it was to use the damn thing.
Well, at least he had a place in mind to stay. Johnny munched a carrot with some anxiety.
Yes, he knew about the general thing about rabbits and carrots. No, he did not care. His parents ate it, his grandparents did as well, and so would he, even if it was a stereotype. He liked carrots. Period.
He took another bite. Still, he should pick other aliments for the go. Eating the same vegetable for three straight days was getting old, and his supply of rings couldn't afford to eat out for much long.
'Dammit! This is all your fault, Sonic.'
Yes, the crux of the question was his wild, wild friend and his stunt on Freedom Day.
And how unbeliavably successful that was.
If that had failed, Johnny wouldn't even have been so mad. He knew that Sonic liked to talk. Sure, he didn't see the stunt that he would attempt, but that was fine. At least it would make people aware of the fact that they existed, and his hedgehog friend would only need a slap to the wrist to help set some things straight.
The problem is that it freaking worked. A perfect eye of storm. People liked Sonic, hated Robotnik, and were hungry to put him through the wringer. Combined with the natural charisma of the Fastest Thing in the Islands, and they were all for it -even the mayors weren't too mad, which only added to the absurd.
'Is as if I am the only sane person in the island!'
He reclined in his bench. The park he chose to hide himself in was still empty at that time of the day -although he saw one or other sweeper cleaning the place for the day. A small lake reflected the birthing sunshine, with a few fish jumping in and out of the water. It was one of the least eccentric places in Casino Night Zone -which probably influenciated his choice, along with the fact that it wasn't terribly far away from the apartment.
The rabbit put his hands in the head.
"It would be so much easier to hate him if he was aware of the consequences of his actions..."
Yes, Johnny Lightfoot couldn't forget: Sonic the Hedgehog, for all of his surprising social prowess, still was something of a fish out of water in the things of the world. Simple-minded and with a tendency of going straight to the point. Not bad traits per se, but together capable of making a mess of the things.
And it only got muddled because Johnny had more than enough insight to understand that his friend had the best intentions in mind. He wanted to form a group to take down Eggman and rescue his friends, so he did just that, without regard on maintenance, or in how risky it was.
'He didn't see how things went. He. Did. Not.'
The first strike was terrible. Wave after wave of Badnik, destroying the armed forces, wrecking buildings, killing Mobians...
Johnny had lost his grandfather in the fray. He and his brothers and sisters had lost their parents when he was only eight, so Abadiah Lightfoot, a man that fought in the Great SouthEast War fifty years ago, took care of them. He lacked a eye, and his feet had been burnt off, meaning that he had to be cut, and later switched by a peg.
'Those were awful days,' he had said one day, when Johnny asked about the war. 'They call it a war, but it was a slaughterhouse. It was a world of mobian eat mobian, regardless of type. It was the shortest of fights, but it was also the one that left the most impact in our minds -that bridge in Spring Yard is a symbol of that,' he slapped his leg. 'I was one of the lucky bastards that got to leave early. Guess that having a rabbit foot really helped me here.' He laughed bitterly. 'War is the place where good men go to die. Remember that.'
That image stood in his mind for a long time. And, when Johnny attempted to rescue Abadiah, he found him already dead, surrounded by the carcass of many destroyed Badniks.
'War is the place where good men go to die.'
That stuck to him.
Which was why Johnny wanted only the best of the best. An elite group, so no one had to needlessly put their heads on the line. If only had he...
Johnny stopped himself.
'Had him what?'
The rabbit stopped to think. 'Did...Did I ever talk to him about that until Freedom Day?'
Well, there was the talk they had the night before the ambush on Silver Sonic. It was from there he took the idea of unique individuals and the name -Freedom Fighters, the same title that Sonic gave to himself and him. Then he talked with Porker when Sonic went to fight Eggman...and that's it, he never said about that idea to his friend until he pratically threw it into his face.
'I...I thought he had the same idea than me. But I never bothered to ask what was his opinion on that.'
Slowly, the injured rabbit laughed. He laughed louder and louder, to the point of scaring away the birds and inviting odd stares from the janitors.
"Who is the idiot here?"
Johnny could now understand what went into Sonic's head...ok, that was a lie, that speedy mind still went in weird directions, but he was fairly sure that something in the lines of 'the more the merrier' was his idea for the Fighters. Quantity vs quality.
He thought at what Porker said. On how, in that night, the hedgehog desperately attempted to find his enraged friend, to ask forgiveness in betraying 'their dream.'
'I never saw his that serious, man,' said Porker, in the first day which he attempted to avoid his friends. 'Not even when fighting Eggman...he really meant it, Johnny. I think he would rather die than betraying his friends.'
'Of course, he would...' thought the rabbit. 'For someone that spent ten years alone, ten days with true friends is the most priceless thing that someone can ask for.'
Part of the rabbit wanted to move, to attempt to talk with his friend. To meet eye to eye.
Yet, he couldn't move. His heart was filled with hesitation. His will still stood steadfast. His heart...still wasn't clear of rage.
Johnny looked at the people starting to enter the park. Childs ready to have fun, old people ready to see their nephews enjoy their youth, lovers going to picnic into a loving sun. Life moved on.
And so would he. And once that happened, he would be able to meet Sonic in the eyes and say everything that went on his head.
'But...not yet.'
He lifted from the bench -with a bit of difficulty, but managed to not fall flat on the ground -and started to walk off. Sonic should be out now, doing his day tasks, likely going basehunting. He would return to the apartment, make some lunch, and then return there. And do that again in the next...whatever number of days he needed to cool down.
