Adorable as this is, can anyone translate for the non-Japanese speaker/reader?
I'm rusty as hell, but, lemme try...
Bottom Right: "Nagato--doko----" (Natago, where?)
Bottom Left: "Ibentozo[blurry kanji]-ta" (dunno)
Middle Right, Top Left: [Kanji I can't read]
Top Right: "Mata watashi ga [Kanji I can't read] echimatta" (Of course, I (kaji verb, past tense))

Forgive me, my last Japanese class was 2001.

Of course. Someone has to maintain the shipping charts.

Fleet Admiral Jane Richardson, Battleship Spirit & World-Class Shipyard.

The aspirations of young girls. :p

It says something about her, I think, that at least two shipgirls (Arizona and New Jersey) have internally expressed a desire to live long enough to serve under the next Admiral Richardson.

I think the bottom left is supposed to be 'Event', so I'm going to bet they were drops from or during an in-game event.

Middle right might be Large Ship Construction. It's hard to make out, but I think it's starting with the character for 'Big'.

Well, Ari is going to want to keep an eye on her daughter, so it kinda makes sense.

Jane: Moooom, I'm sixty-five. I can do my own hair.
Arizona: I don't see you trying to get away little missy.
Jane: ...can you put it in a braid?
Arizona: *smiles* Of course.

Mommy Time defies age.

As to New Jersey? Somebody has to teach the kid how to cuss properly if she's going to be a sailor, right?

Jane already has knowledge of a rather colorful vocabulary. She just refrains from using it because she knows her parents (Richardson especially) don't want her to use such language. At her age at least.

Richardson is also in a bit of denial about her knowing how to swear. :p

Until she is qualified to curse a blue streak in at least two languages apart from English, she is a lightweight and unfit to hold any rank beyond commander, at the highest. ;)

...
I will laugh if you ever have her pull a Captain Haddock and "Curse and swear" like him as a way to get around it... Because the image of Jane going "BLISTERING BLUBBERING BLUE BARNACLES ON AN ANCHOR" is hilarious.

A master sailor knows how to curse and swear and not resort to either profanity or vulgarity. I got chewed out by one of my bosses at one point, he was an ex Marine. he went for fifteen minutes without once repeating himself or descending to 'curse words'. And then he finished it up with a "are we FUCKING clear?!" and I swear I jumped a meter.

Betcha' he did a stint as a DI. They're good at that.

"Sailor, you're so jacked up a soup sandwich makes sense compared to you."

- ADM J. Richardson, U.S.N.

WELP, looks like it's time to bring out the big guns.
...
Deploy the Supertrain Megazord. Lightspeed Rescue is authorized to engage hostile targets, but rescuing survivors is top Priority!
...
:p

Well, all of this is very normal for 9-year-olds, and their parents. The kids might not really understand what all the curse words mean, but they know them. Especially in this day and age of hyperviolent filthymouth crap on the internet, movies, and TV. The parents don't want to deal with trying to control the child's vocabulary, so long as it is not used excessively or at very bad times.

When i was younger my parents tried VERY hard to limit my exposure to curse words. They failed utterly as i could swear like a marine corps DI by the time i was 6.. Mostly because i spent more time in the cab of a kenworth prime mover than i did in school for reasons I wont get into
Anyway my point is that quite a few parent do try and prevent their kids from learning bad language.and failing that they try very hard to prevent it being used at all..

I just posted this rule on the SB forums' thread for "Things Involving Shipgirls That Are No Longer Allowed"...I can actually see this happening.
8042. Jintsu is allowed to go to Star Wars conventions. However, she is advised to not make her character too believable; the groups of fanboys outside the naval base gates are getting ridiculous.
8042a. "We love you, Darth Tanaka, Lady of the Sith from Kolombangara of the Solomon system!" - Star Wars fanboys outside the naval base gates
8042b. "Oh, my..." - a blushing Jintsu

You wanna know what I think would be supremely cute? Having Shinano be given a puppy to play with. Give the the support carrier whose got self confidence issues something that loves her unconditionally :D

I think it'd do her a lot of good.

Or a couple Flower-class corvettes. They return as Newfoundland dogs, which are basically the teddy bears of the dog world. And given how much Shinano adores plushies, living versions of those very things would make her squee with joy. :)
