I presume seaside property values in general, and around naval base in particular dropped significantly recently.
On other hand, in Las Vegas there much housing development happens :)

Assuming you are using the most modern USMC trucks (the Oshkosh LVSR) a Ford F-550 is already within spitting distance of the payload of the flatbed version, and can tow an equivalent payload with an appropriately designed trailer. The F-650 slightly exceeds the LVSR but is not off-road capable. The full-up F-750 is a true Class-8 truck (IE same classification as the largest big rigs on the road) although on the small end of that scale and also exceeds the curb weight limits of the LVSR. Of course, all of these require a CDL LOL.

Las Vegas will be a pretty LONG commute for Gale and Wash. Any housing cost savings will get eaten up by commuting costs in less than 3 months time. On the other hand, Everett will still be fairly expensive, since Naval Station Everett is not the only employer in the area. This is also the site for Boeing's main commercial aircraft assembly plant. Housing costs aren't going to drop just because of the seaborne threat of the Abyssals. It didn't during World War 2, so I don't think this would do it either.

Yeah... The F-450 and RAM 3500 HD both boast max tow ratings that require Class A commercial licenses to pull, and similarly absurd payload ratings.

And Ford makes even more ludicrously burly trucks for the commercial market.

So really, it's a matter of when Ford or RAM makes a pickup that can take the weight of one of the battleships. They might only make three of them, but rest assured, they will be made.
 
I just remembered that world of warships has been mentioned in the actual story before. I wonder how Mutsu would react to finding out that she's now available in the premium shop.


Edit: Makes me wonder if Jane so happens to play that game. Not likely, but then again if she did and with Mutsu in the premium shop now......

Poor. Gale being actually pregnant doesn't really serve the narrative, nor is it funny. Plus, her getting pregnant without the fun part of getting in the family way is really cruel, even when you take into account that Being Gale is Suffering.
 
People, this is not Malaysia, where kids believe you can get pregnant from kissing. :/

At lesst I'm pretty sure this setting isn't Malaysia....
