Last night on PBS they had another Pearl documentary about the Oklahoma. And how they're still identifying some remains and providing closure for some families.
I'll have to keep an eye out for when that is put online.
You know... this does bring up the question of what the shipgirls feel about people visiting their wrecks and exploring them.
I think that would really depend on the ship. Who they are, how they went down, and the condition their remains are in.

This comes first. Writing BB relaxes me, but trying to stay on top of things with Knight's Steel wears me out. And I've been awful busy recently.

That exhaustion is just a sign of growth! Come over to the manlier side of the Department of the Navy, get your bulldog and tank, and just remember the pain is weakness leaving your body!

Man, the Tsun Tsun in this thread increased exponentially.

There is no Tsun only Yan. :o

You think this is bad, you've never been near anything related to the Kant-O-Celle Quest. I'm waiting for december to be a thing and for it to return.

When it does, it will be glorious.

Put the Zalgo text and Siren of Spring back with Lord K, Harry.

Rather than outrun, I think they'd outlast him. ~8,000 nautical miles is nothing to sneeze at. :p
Cross the Emperor's Lake and start heading inland, Admiral! They can't follow you there! :p

Even more, how do they feel about the illegal salvagers cutting up their wrecks for money?

British second world war ships in Java Sea destroyed by illegal scavenging
Given that I feel it would be entirely appropriate to deem such salvers to be engaging in piracy (as they are on the high seas, stealing what is still technically the property of the navies that the ships served under, or their legal successors in the case of Japanese ships) and use universal jurisdiction to just flat-out summarily execute them (probably without even bothering to board their boats and arrest them, if it can be proven--a five-inch shell would do a very, very good job of stopping them permanently)... well, if the Abyssals aren't rampaging through Indonesia, then I wouldn't be shocked if the shipgirls are cutting a swath of destruction through the country to track down and kill every single one of them...

Hell, considering the fact that the Abyssals are, at least to some extent, the spirits of WWII era ships, I imagine that they would prioritize illegal salvagers, simply for the fact that they are destroying the wrecks of ships.

Not...really. At least not in BB

They're the condensed form of hate, loathing, misery and discontent. And basically the anathema of anything that lives.

IIRC, At least the Princess level Abyssals are versions of ships like Bismarck, Tirpitz, Tosa, Habbakuk, etc., and theoretically they would take extra offense to people desecrating wrecks.

Granted, I meant more the Princess level Abyssals.

Why tho?

It causes hate, discontent and anger. All things that for the most part are in line with their goals.

What I don't understand on the matter is that whenever we have Abyssal POV's, they seem to believe they are who they're made out to be (Abyssal!Tirpitz, AtomiCC Princess, U-511 even refers to herself by name).

So is the author a deceiving deceiver, or did the Abyssals implant memories in their ships to make them believe they are who the they're imitating?

I'm put a little bit in mind of how vampires were expained in an episode of Buffy, Season 2: "You die, and a demon sets up shop in your old house, and it walks, and it talks, and it remembers your life, but it's not you." On those occasions we've seen an Abyssal POV in BB, that's kind of how it comes across: enough fragmentary memories crammed into a shell of meat and metal to provide some twisted sense of identity, but the urges that move it are foul ones.
