Well, if Fleet carriers are off limits...

Lets talk about just how many USN Escort carriers are available.......

How about 122.

50 Casablancas
45 Bogues
19 Commencement Bays
4 Sangamons
2 Long Islands
USS Charger
1 other (couldn't find it on the list)

That's only counting the ones that were finished/commissioned, and either deployed into the field, or put into the reserve fleet.

Also, we really need to see the Princeton Bay (CVl-23) & Birmingham (CL-62) come back as a pair, with the Birmingham being rather....obsessive protective of the Princeton Bay. For several good reasons.

1. The two ships were to have been sisters, as the Princeton Bay was originally a Cleveland class before being rebuilt. In fact, Princeton Bay would have almost been Birmingham's older twin sister, considering Princeton Bay was originally designated to have been CL-61 Tallahassee.

2. Princeton Bay was bombed during Leyte Gulf that resulted in her having to be scuttled. Birmingham literally was right next to her the entire time trying to extinguish the fires that eventually killed Princeton Bay, and ended up taking severe damage via proximity to several of the explosions that crippled Princeton Bay.

3. Birmingham was the first ship ordered to fire torpedoes on the stricken carrier, only for the torps to veer off (in fact, they nearly hit the Birmingham due to circling back that much), and so the Birmingham had to watch another ship torpedo the carrier.

Where did you see the thing about torpedoes? Cleveland class cruisers never mounted them.

It was the destroyer Irwin that attempted to scuttle the Princeton.

Random idea:
If shipgirl appearance is affected by collective unconscious, witch in turn affected by mass-media..
-Desert
-Nuclear
-Powerful battlewagon

If any of the omakers are interested, HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Warrior were both CVLs. I'd suggest Bonaventure, but I think she's past the date cut-off, as cool as slinging Banshees would be.

Sorry, but I'm going to be a bit of a killjoy in that I have no intention of adding to the carrier ranks in my omakes at this time.

Besides, there's aready a good spread of carriers in as is. Especially given that the stars are battleships. White Plains, Shinano, Ryuujou, Houshou, Jun'you, Kaga, Akagi, and I could have sworn Shouhou was around at one point, are all present and that's still a lot of air power. I could be missing one other, but I'm not sure.

Hmmm. I hadn't considered just how big the difference in performance envelope would be. But you're saying Sara's 5-7 inches of belt armor would bounce Atago and Nacho's 8"ers easily, but still be "paperweight" against Texas' 14's? The latter I believe easily, the former I'm not so sure of.

A little research shows they would probably have been effective at 20-22 kyards, while Alaska's 12" would make 35 and Texas' 14s would be about even with them.

So the question is, would 20,000 yards have been "suicidally close" for the cruisers?

Frankly, even the 35kyards at which Texas and Alaska could engage her would have been more than close enough for Sara's 16's.

So, great chapter, just one little "realism" niggle bugging me.

I think that effective range for the 93's is under more idea circumstances. You can fire at maximum effective range, but how worthwhile is it to do so? Not to mention the positioning needed for lining up a torpedo attack.

Its less that more the "its suicide range because 5/38's" explanation when both of their primary weapons are capable of hurting BC princess from well outside of the 5/38's range.
using those 16's the battlecruiser has as an excuse is understandable but the only way those two ran a risk of getting hit by a 5/38 was if they were trying to use their secondary's only.

I don't think either Nachi or Atago would stand up to 16 inch fire well no matter what the range.

And range is practically a moot point when Texas fired, after all she murdered the Princess at 6000 yards. That's "Wash is being sneaky again" range. Not even Jersey is going to stand up to 14 inch fire at that range.

I've got more than enough of my own. What with Vicky, Furious and Formidable. And the only reason I get away with that is because the Brits may call them 'fleet' carriers, but they aren't by any stretch of the imagination. Even deck parking only gets them up to 50 or so planes after all :V

I mean, I would write Sara in a heartbeat, but I've decided to hope for CC!Sara in that regard.

And so people have something to call Sara that isn't a monster.

*is still salty about people doing that*

All I'm imagining now is Vicky looking at BC Sara and her first words being "You really let yourself go after 43 didn't you."

I think that would make a fun "how do I battlecruiser?" arc for Sara.

Battleship vs Battlecruiser, it went exactly as expected more or less. Nuclear Battlecruiser Princess should have high tailed it when she had a chance.

Also of course Texas uses revolvers, as long as she doesn't start twirling them like a certain Metal Gear character it's alright.

Hey, why do you think I was trying to popularize "Atomic Battlecruiser Princess?" ;)

Also, and I've said this multiple times and don't mean to be boring, I'm still a little confused about how Texas was able to get into "surprise motherfucker" range. I get that they were very close to the coast, but... [is still confused]

Can we at least say she's some kind of evil shadow of Saratoga, like something out of Persona or whatever. She's at least sort of based off of what Saratoga would have looked like if she had been built as a Battlecruiser.

The answer is the topography of the area. Atlanta and her friends sucked the nuclear princess to where her line of sight was blocked from Texas right up until the moment that Texas came out and nailed her with a broadside
